A Christmas Poem It was three weeks before Christmas and all over the place,
The dark haired lady decorates at a fast pace.
She makes bows and ribbons and sticks them here and there,
If you don't move quickly you better beware.
She'll sneak up behind you with a bow in her hand,
Stick it to your head and think you look grand. The natives are restless, they know Christmas is near,
There only a few weeks to end up the year.
They have 25 days left to make you angry and tired,
A few short weeks to get you all wired.
They want to make sure that this year's been the best,
They want to make sure that you get no rest. When I went on a visit to check on a house,
I tried to fit in as quiet as a mouse.
I watched and visited and had a good feeling,
Then Charles had a problem, his true feeling revealing.
He didn't like the dinner or perhaps he was just done,
Because pineapple and pizza hit every one.Wesley M. kept us busy throughout the whole year,
With tricks to numerous to list them all here.
Up on the roof of the shed he laughed like a kid,
Then under the porch he ran and hid.
He wedged himself in to the tiny little spot,
Then he couldn't get out, he was tied in a knot. Some thing Doc is seldom seen but often heard,
Giving encouragement and only a kind word.
That's not quite how I heard it when someone told it to me,
But I try my hardest with him to keep harmony.
I'll tell you a secret that not everyone knows,
He's nice as can be when he has oreos. One day J.J. crawled though my office door,
He tried to get attention all the day before.
Pitiful and sad, "Help me, help me." he was imploring,
Oh, great! I thought, a test on planned ignoring.
I kept my head down and went on with my work,
He caught my eye as he left and gave me a smirk. They test you and tease you and call you all names,
When you don't let them win their silly little games.
They get on your nerves til you patience is at zero,
They they ask you for help and you know you're a hero.
With the trust of a child and the light in their eyes,
They can give you the best Christmas surprise.©1990Next Poem
