Trish and the People Who Made Her Strong
(this was written to my assistant of 9 years when she resigned)
When first I met you nine long years ago,
I had no idea how much you could grow.
Barb hit you with bread,
You had a hard head,
This was a sample of what was ahead.
Lisa screamed all day,
Richard wanted to play,
"Who are these people?" we say with dismay.
"Paulie in the toilet".
Danny covered with chocolate,
Why don't they learn the damned alphabet?
Remember the day when Sean bit our fingers?
That day in my mind forever lingers.
We went to the doctor who gave us a shot.
Rabies and tetanus, it hurt a lot.
"You're from that place aren't you?" he said with a grin.
"Well then, I'll see you again and again."
Tiny little rocks were great,
for a little redhead who did captivate.
Even out tree ornaments she ate!
When they wanted they took her from us.
They made her go try to ride a bus.
I would have liked to see that mess.
Think of the rumors, oh, how they flew.
They soared though the air and grew and grew.
There were a few that were all about you.
We can't forget who made you cry.
And he didn't really have to try.
His behavior you did modify.
Don't forget Maria, Carl, Ronnie or Jim.
No matter how we try we can't forget him.
He was really my favorite Jim.
Some times have been bad,
and they've made us sad.
At times we even got very mad.
I for one know you understand why,
Eagles soar so high in the sky.
How people, like flowers, bloom right from the start,
How these people win a place in your heart.
