| I lost a big cheerleader in my life last week. Mike Ratliff, a math professor at NAU, died suddenly on MondayFebruary 4th, in Flagstaff. Mike was one of the people that kept up with how, and what, I was doing after grad school. He cheered me on at every step, especially the rocky ones .He was not only a mentor in grad school, but had become a friend after I left NAU. Every year for 10 years I drove up to Flagstaff to have lunch with some of my former professors. I didn't go this year, and I am so sorry I didn't. I miss you Mike! |
| Janet (Mike's wife and NAU Math Department Chair) and Larry are two of my former professors. Murphy was my formal department mentor in grad school. All are now friends that I treasure. Nic is Mike's son, and Jeannine is a colleague of mine at WCC. Jeannine and I had spent the day at the Grand Canyon and stopped in Flagstaff to have dinner with everyone above. |
