Friends
Left to right:   (Summer 2006)
Mike Ratliff, me, Murphy Johnson, Janet McShane, Larry Perko, Jeannine Epps, Nic Ratliff.
I lost a big cheerleader in my life last week.  Mike Ratliff, a math professor at NAU, died suddenly on MondayFebruary 4th, in Flagstaff.

Mike was one of the people that kept up with how, and what, I was doing after grad school. He cheered me on at every step, especially the rocky ones .He was not only a mentor in grad school, but had become a friend after I left NAU.

Every year for 10 years I drove up to Flagstaff to have lunch with some of my former professors. I didn't go this year, and I am so sorry I didn't.

I miss you Mike!
Janet (Mike's wife and NAU Math Department Chair) and Larry are two of my former professors.  Murphy was my formal department mentor in grad school. All are now friends that I treasure.

Nic is Mike's son, and Jeannine is a colleague of mine at WCC.  Jeannine and I had spent the day at the Grand Canyon and stopped in Flagstaff to have dinner with everyone above.
