In my fantasy life I am a beach bum photographer with an address on Front Street in Lahina, Maui, Hawaii. :)
In reality I live in Sleepy Hollow, NY. (Yes, it is the home of the "Headless Horseman" legend!) I am an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Westchester Community College in Valhalla, NY, and an amateur photographer.
I have a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics from Metropolitan State College in Denver, Colorado, and a Masters Degree in Mathematics from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. I am also a graduate student at Columbia University Teachers College, working on a doctorate in the teaching of college mathematics. |

I love to travel and I have the perfect job for this hobby. I'd do more, but college professors first need to make more money! :) So, I work hard, teach extra classes during the semester and summers, and maximize my travel as much as possible. My favorite places to travel are to Arizona, Colorado, and Hawaii. I love to have friends and family visit New York City, and am a pretty good tour guide!
My camera is always along for the ride when I travel. Most recently I have some great photos of my trip to Hawaii with my mom and sister. I hope to have the best of those up here soon!
I play the piano, but not recently. I have my Grandmother Cotten's piano, but it is in storage until I have a place big enough for it! I want to take piano lessons again.
I also love to crochet. I have enjoyed making baby afgans for Chloe and a few babies for my colleagues. It is something my mom taught me to do about 30 years ago. I find it to be very relaxing and enjoyable. I currently have two projects in the works, a 'big girl' afghan for my great niece, Chloe, and one for me as well. (Yes, that is a big girl afghan for myself. :)
I also LOVE mathematics. It is such a special part of my life that it gets it's own page! |
