MULTIPLICATION
Welcome to the Multiplication Page!
Part 1: Lesson
To multiply numbers means to repeat addition. The symbol X is used between numbers in a multiplication equation.
Multiplication Example:
If you have 3 ice cream cones and you multiplied the number of ice cream cones you have by 2, how many total ice cream cones would you have?

X
=

The multiplication equation for the example above is:
3 x 2 = 6
Since multiplication can be defined as repeated addition, the above example could also be stated as an addition equation:
3 + 3 = 6 (by multiplying by 2, you are adding 3 two times)
