A PREGNANT fallow deer was treated at Horsebridge veterinary centre after being rescued on the A22.
The deer was found on the main road near the East Sussex National Golf Course at Uckfield.
Volunteers from East Sussex Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service (WRAS) attended and police closed the part of the road during rush hour while the deer was rescued and loaded into one of WRAS's veterinary ambulances.
The deer was sex pregnant women image rushed to Horsebridge vets where she was carefully treated and found to be pregnant.
No fractures were found but the deer had suffered bruising to her spine. Once stable she was transported to the specialist deer hospital at St Tiggywinkles in Buckinghamshire where she was this week being assessed and closely monitored.
Trevor Weeks, WRAS's rescue co-ordinator, said, "Using straw donated by Sussex Horse Rescue, we bedded her down in our ambulance odoul s while pregnant and she was placed on an intravenous drip and driven for three hours to Buckinghamshire.
"We were really pleased she made it okay and she has now been settled in one of their special deer months pregnant vomiting abruptly stopped stables where she is awaiting a more detailed assessment."
