Francesco "Frank" Benamati immigrated to the United States, via Ellis Island, from Malcesine, Lago de Garda, Italy, at age 16, aboard the steamship New York, arriving on March 20, 1914.  Accompanying him were his older brother Tomasa "Thomas" Benamati, age 18, and four Benamati cousins.  The cousins were  Giovanni Battista Benamati 26 yo,
Genstina (Guistina) Benamati 19 yo, and their two sons Angelo 3 yo, and Gabriele 1 yo.
Tom settled in Ohio with his wife Bessie. 
The Benamati cousins settled in the state of California.

Frank worked for a while at the New Thacker mine in WV,
then settled in Greene County in Mather, PA, and worked until his retirement in the Pickand's Mather Collieries "Mather mine"..
Frank and Adelaide Benamati lived on 1st street in Mather until 1936.
While in Mather they had  three children ...

In 1936 Frank and Adelaide purchased a farm in Chartiers / Clarksville, approximately one mile outside of Mather.  Frank continued working in Mather mine until his retirement, while working the farm on the side.  Adelaide was active in the Christian Mothers and The Farm Women.  Frank was active as groundskeeper of the church yard, chauffer for the sisters at the convent, and the Knights of Columbus.  Frank was working dayshift in the Mather mine on the day of the explosion.  Relatives were on the baseball team and he left work early with them to go watch the game against the  Nemacolin "Buckeye" team.

Adelaide's father, Peter Vivian b. 1883 - d. Mar 20, 1937,
immigrated from Malcesine, Lake Garda, Italy. 
Adelaide's mother, Ida Cavalli b. 1887 - d. Oct. 6, 1930,
immigrated from Massa Carrara, Italy.

Peter Vivian's parents were Pietro Vivian and Elisabeth Murani or Mariani.
Ida Cavalli's parents were Antonio Cavalli and Amerisa / Artemisia Lucrezia.

Peter and Ida Vivian's eight children included:
