Fractals

  •   Fractals
A fractal is infinitely detailed, with parts of itself similar to all of itself. This page has many animations illustrating the structure of some well known self-similar fractals. There are many worksheets here to help you explore interesting patterns and relationships.

Resources for teachers

  •   NEW   The Number Plane Laboratory
This interactive spreadsheet, developed by Dr T, will help Year 7 and/or Year 8 students develop an understanding of the fundamentals of Coordinate Geometry. Included are worksheets on plotting points, graphing lines and creating and examining different shapes.

      The Straight Line
This spreadsheet graphs the straight line y = mx + b for values of m and b between -5 and +5. Two worksheets are included.

      The Parabola: y = ax2 + b
This spreadsheet will test students' knowledge of this special parabola which is symmetric about the y axis. Worksheet included.

      The Parabola: y = ax2 + bx + c
Students can use this spreadsheet to learn about the changes that occur in the parabola when the coefficients a, b or c change in value. The spreadsheet also calculates the value of the quadratic discriminant. Students can conduct experiments to test what happens to the parabolic graph when the discriminant changes in sign. Worksheet included.

      The Parabola: y = ax2 + bx + c
Similar to the above spreadsheet but with better animations. (Note: the spreadsheet contains macros.)

      Multiplication Tables
Written by Jim Hubbard, this handy spreadsheet is useful for practising times tables.

      Whole Numbers Quiz (Year 7)
40 questions to test knowledge and skills involving whole numbers.

      Expressions Quiz (Year 7)
    Students evaluate expressions by substitution.

      Roman Numerals
Use this spreadsheet to test your students' knowledge of Roman Numerals.

      HSC School Assessment Moderation
A spreadsheet that simulates the HSC School Assessment Moderation Process. (Note: This spreadsheet contains macros.)
