MATH 11 ESSENTIAL COURSE OUTLINE
Below are topics required for this course.  Within each topic, students will be able to:

RELATIONS AND FORMULAS                              15% OF THE COURSE
Express a linear form of y=mx+b in words, formula, table and graph
Slope
Interpret graphs in words
Construct a graph of a relation from its description in words

INCOME AND DEBT                                                15% OF THE COURSE
Solve problems involving performance based income, commission sales, piece
   word and salary plus commission
Simple and compound interest problems
Solve problems involving credit cards, exchange rates and personal loans

PROBABILITY                                                         15% OF THE COURSE
Express probabilities as ratios, fractions, decimals, percents and in words
Use probability ot predict the result in a given situation
Determine the odds for and against a situation
Compare experimental observations with theoretical predictions
Use probabilities to calculate expected gains and losses

DATA ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION              10% OF THE COURSE
Display and analyze data on a line plot
Manipulate presentations of data to stress a point of view
Display and analyze data on a circle graph, bar graph and a pictograph

MEASUREMENT TECHNOLOGY                          10% OF THE COURSE
Select and use appropriate measure devices and units in Imperia/Si systems
Perform basic conversions
Use measurement strategies to solve problems

OWNING AND OPERATING A VEHICLE               15% OF THE COURSE
Solve problems involving the acquistion and operation of a vehicle including renting, buying licensing, insuring, operating and maintaining

PERSONAL INCOME TAX                                       5% OF THE COURSE
Prepare an income tax form for an individual who is single, employed and without dependents

BUSINESS PLAN                                                    20% OF THE COURSE
Prepare a business plan to own and operate a business that includes monthly cost of operation, hours of operation, estimated daily sales, gross/net profit, and hourly earnings and draw a scale floor plan of the store
