About Girls in Engineering Day
The event was held on Arpil 28th 2007.  Girls from the Orange Couty area of New York came to the United States Military Academy to learn about careers in engineering.  For four hours the firls participated in a multitude of activities led by USMA instructors, and the day concluded witha drawing of various department donations.

One of the activities was fun by a volunteer from the Civil and Mechanical Engineering Department.  The girls learned how to work with West Point's Bridgebuilder Program (link on left), and attempted to build a bridge within the given guidelines.

There was also a volunteer fromt eh Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department that brought some robots.  The participants were able to take turns driving one of the robots down the hallway.  They were also introduced to the basic robot used for the First Lego League Competitions.

Finally, there was a games section, where the girls competed in activities that encompassed many other fields of engineering.  The girls were challenged to cut an index card so that it would fit over their head, they were challenged to fit as many pennies as they could into a shot glass full of water, and they even had to build the tallest self-standing tower their team could create using only a few sheets of newspaper, and a pair of scissors.

Then the girls had finished these activities, a volunteer from the Chemistry Department helped the girls to create silly putty they could take home.
