UNDERSTANDING YOUR CARBY
CARBURETOR  (CARBY)
The carby is the mechanism that mixes fuel and air in very specific proportions and passes it on to the engine. You can adjust how much fuel/air mixture reaches the engine. By reducing amount of fuel per volume of air you are making the mixture 'lean' and by increasing the amount of fuel you are making the mixture 'rich'.There are two types of carbys slide and barrel. the old style barrel carbys still
dominate the market because of their simple design. barrel carbys have been
around since the start of glow engines. They control the fuel/air mixture by rotating
a barrel with a hole cut in either side that lets the mixture of fuel/air to flow
through the carby
HIGH SPEED NEEDLE VALVE

Also known as the main needle adjustment this is the primary
fuel mixture adjustment. This is normaly found on the top end
of the engine beside where the fuel line joins to the carby.
IDLE SPEED ADJUSTMENT

this spring Tension screw limits the closure of the barrel
aperture. This does'nt affect the fuel mixture,it does change
the idle speed. The more closed the aperture is the slower the
idle the larger the aperture the faster the idle.
