JAPAN AND ENGLAND

It was a pleasure to read the excellent
feature article titled, ~Regularity,
Recognition and Fraternal Relations."
However, I hasten to inform you of an
error on page 10 in the paragraph relating
to English Masons in Japan. The United
Grand Lodge of England and the Grand
Lodge of Japan have enjoyed fraternal
relations since March 1985.

The error does not, however, detract
from the otherwise extremely pertinent
survey of our current situation of
recognition and regularity... It can be
confusing!

THE CALIFORNIA SOLUTION

The article titled, "Regularity,
Recognition and Fraternal Relations,"
(Summer, 1992) is outstanding. It is one
of the best, most concise summaries on
that subject that I have ever seen.

The section of the article that includes
California Grand Master Sam Pavlovich's
comments should be mandatory reading
for every Mason, from the youngest
Entered Apprentice to all higher. Certainly,
it is a font of wisdom in an area of
confusion.

FRATERNAL RELATIONS

I would like to offer this information
regarding visitation in other grand
jurisdictions where there may be
unrecognized Masons present. At recent
communications of the Grand Lodge of
Connecticut, where the Grand Master of
ConnecticutPrinceHallMasonshasbeen
a visitor, there have been other grand
masters from grand lodges that do not
recognize the Prince Hall Grand Lodge of
Connecticut who felt able to sit in lodge
with him.

In 1991 the grand masters of
Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine,
New Brunswick, New Hampshire, New
Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania,
Quebec, Rhode Island, and Vermont were
in attendance.

PAPAL POWERS

Congratulations are due on your cover
story, '-Regularity, Recognition and
Fraternal Relations," (Summer, 1992). It
is the best written - and undoubtedly the
best researched - treatise on this subject
that it has been my pleasure to read.

Until some of the grand masters of
this country quit flexing their imagined
"papal-like powers" and pompously
issuing edicts which pontiflcate on internal
matters of other grand lodges we will
probably find many of our members, as
you so creatively stated, '-...tempted to
solve the problem for themselves by
joining the Lion's Club."

James N. DeMoss, PGM
Grand Lodge of Nebraska

PRINCE HALL RECOGNIIION

In Barbados we are also discussing
the recognition of Prince Hall Masonry.
In at least two households here we have
two brothers where one is Prince Hall and
the other is English Constitution and they
cannot sit together in lodge in peace, love
and harmony! We anxiously await sanity
in the ruling bodies.

THE WAGES OF A MASON

I receive no other publication which
so thoroughly informs while leaving
opinions to the reader, and I like that!

Perhaps when enough voices emerge
from the darkness, we shall see more
light.

I read of American Masonic Review
in The Scottish Rite JournaL (I joined the
Scottish Rite when I worked in Southeast
Asia.) I am involved with The Tasmanian
Mason and I am Coordinator of Fraternal
Relations for the grand lodges of Australia
and New Zealand. We would be interested
in American Masonic Review for our
Grand Lodge Library.

BACK ISSUES

I'm interested in obtaining every issue
of American Masonic Review for my
library. Currently I am a member of the
Society and would like to have my lodge
become a member as I feel that the Review
would be a welcome publication. It will
also add to our library a very excellent and
informative piece of Masonic literature.

Thankyouforsendingthebackissues
