Dear All,
At the invitation of Denver Lodge #5 in Denver, Colorado, Germania
Lodge #46 from New Orleans exemplified the Scottish Rite Entered
Apprentice degree on Saturday September 19th. In attendance were not
only members of Denver Lodge #5, but the Grand Master & majority of
the Grand Lodge Officers of the GL of Colorado as well as
representatives of several other Grand Lodges. The event was held at
the Denver Consistory.

In addition to the exemplification of the SR EA degree, Germania
opened and closed the Lodge using the Scottish Rite Ritual. Yours
truly delivered a short discourse on the history and development of
the SR ritual. The response to the Germania program was overwhelming.
Many in attendance had no idea that the Scottish Rite was worked in
the first three degrees of Masonry and several actually came up to me
afterwards confessing that they were under the belief that the
Scottish Rite Symbolic ritual was irregular by nature (a belief
soundly disproved). The Grand Master of Colorado approached me after
the program and asked about the possibility of another such program.
Several members of Denver Lodge #5 actually suggested that they wanted
to begin a campaign to allow, or create, a lodge or two in Denver to
work in the SR ritual (I have no idea if this will fly or not <G>).
The Scottish Rite was well displayed and received and the program will
certainly be long talked about. Germania proudly carried the SR
banner to Colorado and firmly planted it.

One additional point that should be stated was the incredible
hospitality extended to the members of Germania Lodge by Denver Lodge.
We were wined, dined, taxied and treated like kings. The degree team
from Germania was even, by special resolution announced by the GM,
made honorary members of Denver Lodge. It was a truly wonderful time.

	Fraternally,
	Michael R. Poll, PM

Dear Mike,

What a pity I couldn't be with you. I would have greatly enjoyed
seeing how the A&ASR EA degree is worked over there!

Dear Mike,
Yes, it would have benefited all to hear from you on this matter
and you could have pointed out where we might differ on some points
(not too hard since all 10 N.O. SR lodges differ on points with each
other <G>). The main point was that the SR ritual was made known to
many who had no idea that it existed. It was a great time for Masonic
education.

OTOH, I am also sorry that I could not join you at the PSOC meeting
in Maine. (The Denver/Germania event was held at the same time. ) How
did it go ? Frat. Mike

Beats me<g>. I wasn't there either<bfg>. Conflicted with my Grand
Lodge Communication, where I had some important things to take care
of. But I only heard very complimentary comments about it. Seems that
a young Brother, lodge colleague and friend of mine, Martin Barbedor,
was quite a hit too.

The Semi-Annual Meeting of Philalethes was indeed a great
get-together. While the turn-out was a bit light, those who attended
were treated to a fantastic party! First of all, the hotel was
connected to the airport by a 100ft skyway - we didn't even go outside
to get to our hotel! Thursday night's dinner was an easy night
together. Friday wa spent sightseeing, a bus-ride to Bar Harbor,
sailing on a 151ft - four-masted schooner!, trip to the top of MT
Cadillac for sight-seeing, dinner at a great lobster restaurant, also
serving other cuisines for those who chose not to enjoy Maine
lobster.

Saturday, of course was the treat we were waiting for - various papers
covering a variety of subjects and time for discussion, and yes,
Martin did make it BIG with us. The thanks goes to Ed and Brandy King
for their setting the stage for this treat. Everything was GREAT!

Hugs & kisses to Odette, S&F, Ralph Hultquist, MPS
