MASONIC TELECOMMUNICATION CONTINUES TO GROW

HIRAM'S VALLEY BBS
El Cajon, CA
(619) 562-0137

The Southern California Research Lodge has given sponsorship to Hi~am's Valley BBS, a
Masonic Bulletin Board System located in the San Diego, California area operating under
guidance of the SCRL. . The System Operator, (SYSOP), is an advanced computer hobbyist-
enthusiast and member of the SCRL.

Electronic Mail, (E-Mail), Conferences have been created for a Blue Lodge Forum, and one for
each affiliated or concordant body of Masonry. From DeMolay to Shrine, from Rainbow for
Girls to Eastem Star. There is one conference for SCRL members and friends. Other special
interest conference creation will be considered simply by leaving a suggestion for the SYSOP.
One such conference is entitled "Computer Chatter" intended as a questionlanswer forum for
those of us who are new to computers and telecommunications.

Selected works and excerpts from the Southem California Research Lodge will be po~ted as
bulletins and/or available for download in ASCII text format. Textual calendars of each body in
the San Diego area listing Stated and Special meetings, special Masonic events, fund raisers, etc.
will be available for on-line perusal as bulletins or download from the files area. A limited
selection of Public Domain or Shareware programs relating to Telecommunications or DOS
utilities will also be available for download. Office telephone numbers and organization
locations will be posted, however, the SYSOP will not post telephone numbers of individuals
BBS users, nor will such information be made avail~ble by the SYSOP.

The bulletin board is free and open to the public but especially intended as a place where Masons
can meet electronically to share thoughts, ideas, experiences and questions. All users are
encouraged to conduct themselves with due order and propriety while on line. There are neither
membership fees nor requests for donations. It is supported by an HST-V42 modem which will
,vork ~,vith all baud rates from 300 to 14.4k. The system is operating on a fast ~0486-based
c-,mputer and is relatively easy to move around in once you are logged on. Your communications
software should be set up for 8-N-I and the highest baud rate your modem will support.

Currently in a stage of infancy, the future growth and usefulness of Hiram's Valley BBS will be
determined by the level of participation of Masons, their families and friends. If you have never
"traveled" by modem, you are encouraged to log-on and give it a try. Read a few bulletins,
download a few files, choose a conference appropriate to your interests and leave a message
addressed to NALL", then watch what happens.

Proposed articles, printed materials, Organizational Calendars and Trestle boards may be
uploaded electronically on the BBS, or fon, varded by regular mail to:
