WHAT A GREAT WAY TO START THE YEAR!

Expect the best and you will get it! That has always been my
motto, and the Brethren have proved me right - again!

Last year, I was able to report in the January issue that
contributions through the 1991 calendar program for the House of
the Temple Historic Preservation Foundation had topped $1
million. Now I am able to announce the same good news for 1992!

Some said it could not be done, but I never lost confidence.
And, Brothers, you came through! Thank you from the bottom of my
heart!

Through your continued support, the ultimate Foundation goal of
$10 million will be reached. The corpus of this fund will not be
touched; only the interest from it will be used to maintain,
restore, and improve our beautiful and historic House of the
Temple in Washington, D.C. In fact, your contributions have
already been put to work for truly needed improvements.

The Temple's roof has been repaired, waterproofed, and
finished with an insulating coating.

The magnificent stairs, in tiers of 3, 5, 7 and 9, leading to
the main door of the Temple have been caulked to eliminate water
leakage problems.

Two rest rooms have been totally renovated.

Also, the facade of the House of the Temple now bears an
identifying inscription carved deeply into the granite. Plus new
night illumination has been added to make the Temple stand out
proud and tall in our capital's evening skyline.

All this because of your support of the 1991 and 1992 Scottish
Rite Calendar Programs! Thank you, Brethren! Thanks a
million - AGAIN!
