   The Ancient Grand Canal tour begins Saturday, May 30, 
with your departure from the U.S. for Tokyo. After 
overnighting in Japan, your flight arrives in Beijing, 
capital of the People's Republic of China. The next two 
weeks offer a well-planned itinerary of the great sites of 
China. In Beijing, there's the Forbidden City, Tiananmen 
Square, the Summer Palace, the Great Wall, the Ming tombs 
and, of course, a Peking duck dinner. 

   Then it's on to Xian and the famous tomb of China's first 
emperor, guarded by thousands of full-size terracotta 
warriors.  The  tour visits  Nanjing  on the Yangtze River; 
Zhenjiang, former residence of Pearl S. Buck (and where she 
wrote The Good Earth); Jinshan, with its caves and ancient 
temple; Jiaoshan, "the Floating Jade Hill"; and Beigushan. 

   You'll cruise on the Grand Canal from Wuxi to Suzhou and 
then take the train to Shanghai for two days of sightseeing. 
From Shanghai, the tour flies to Guilin, inspiration for 
many Chinese painters who have captured its unique 
landscape. In Guilin there's also a luncheon cruise while 
sailing down the beautiful Li River. Then its off to Hong 
Kong for two days and three nights of shopping, sightseeing, 
and dining. Departure from Hong Kong back to the U.S. is on 
Thursday, June 18.
