Your Executive Board Reports

The Annual meeting of the Executive
Board of The Philalethes Society was
called to order by the President Wallace
MacLeod, at 7 p.m., February i8, 1993,
in the Hotel Washington, Washington,
DC. Others present were: Forrest D.
Haggard and Royal C. Scofield, First
and Second Vice Presidents, Henry G.
Law, Treasurer, Allen E. Roberts, Exec-
utive Secretary, Charles S. Guthrie and
Keith A. Hinerman. The meeting was
opened with an appropriate prayer.

On a motion made by Allen E. Rob-
erts, Keith A. Hinerman was unani-
mously elected Assistant to the Execu-
tive Secretary.

The Board accepted a recommenda-
tion by the immediate Past President,
John M. Hilliard, and authorized a
grant of as complete a set of The
Philalethes as possible to Chancellor Liv-
ingston Library and Museum of the
Grand Lodge of New York, plus micro-
fiche copies of The Philalethes, The Builders
and The Master Mason. In a separate de-
cision the Board placed under advise-
ment a grant for Will Moore to produce
a book featuring stained glass windows
with Masonic connotations in New York.

A request for a grant to help pay for a
doctoral dissertation in Great Britain
was denied. It was determined, however,
if an appropriate manuscript for a mean-
ingful Masonic book is produced, the
Board will take into consideration pay-
ing for a portion of its publication.

A budget for 1993 was approved. The
expenditures for 1992 were approved.
The Treasurer and Executive Secretary
were commended for the excellence of
their work.

Charters were approved for Iowa
Chapter and Cornerstone Computer
Chapter. (These were presented during
the Annual Assembly, Feast and Forum. )

Melvyn Friendly was awarded The
Certificate of Literature for 1992 for
his article: "The Masonic Connection
With the Oregon Constitution. "

John M. Boersma was awarded the me-
dallion of Merit as Lecturer for 1993. This
was presented at the completion of his mas-
terful presentation "Brother Mozart. "

Distinguished Service Medals were
unanimously awarded to Wilmer Stan-
ley of Marietta, Ohio andJohn Boettjer,
Editor of The Scottish Rite Journal.

Robert Glenn Davis of Guthrie, Okla-
homa, was elected Second Vice Presi-
dent for the term February 1994-96.

A dispensation for Jerry Marsengill
Chapter, to meet in or about Kansas
City, Kansas, was approved.

It was agreed to hold the Semi-Annual
meeting on October 1 -2, 1 993, in or near
Cleveland, Ohio.--The 1994 and 1995
Semi-Annual meetings will be held in
Louisville, Kentucky, and Kansas City,
Kansas .

CompuServe was highly commended
for opening a Forum especially for Free-
masonry.

It was unanimously agreed that future
annual meetings of the Executive Board
will be held on the Thursday evening
prior to the Annual Assembly, Feast and
Forum.
