The Thirteenth Warrior
Talk about pumping up!  While not a fantasy so to speak, it has some great ideas for character archtypes.  Lots of fighters and barbarians, but also a ranger (the guy in all black with the grey/black beard who had the short sword) and bard (Antonio Banderas' Character).  It has some GREAT action, a cool, adventure based plotline and after watching it, you are ready for some great hack and slash D&D sessions.  The witty comebacks from Antonio, a well written storyline (originally penned by action/adventure great Michael Chrichton) not only enhance the movie, but make it worth watching beyond the fighting aspect.  The love story between Banderas and the Nordic girl is not to distracting as far as the movie goes, although you would never be able to watch this movie for a date.  If you ever have watched it as a date movie, and the girl actually enjoyed watching the movie as a DATE movie, there is something weird with her and she may be interested in playing D&D. Which makes her a keeper.  Overall, on the D&D Rating of Radness Scale: a 9 of 10
