ECI(Earth Collective Initiative) keeps the many nations
of the Earth under check. Space exploration is at a boom,
with many industrial companies supporting missions into space.
NC025
Space colony research deems the construction of large space stations plausible and construction of the first 12 are begun. With the construction of theses massive structures, a new type of construction machine is created for the soul purpose of building colonies. Named CMA-055, where the CMA stands for Construction Mobile Attachment, it was slightly humanoid in form, capable of performing many human-like manouveres.
NC030-032
The first colony is finished, named New Haven, and the majority of the smaller Earth-bound nations migrate and set up permanent residence inside New Haven.
With only 15 nations within the ECI, the remaining nations on the Earth (the superpowers) expand and take the empty land. Disputes arise.
NC033
Three new colonies are built and many more people, this time from around every single country, migrate to the Freedom, Peace and Fortune colonies. While many moved into space, there were a majority who stayed Earth-bound. With the border disputes raging, Chinese and Russian militia attack opposing countries, using the newly developed CMA vehicle as a war machine. ECI recognises an opportunity, and secretly begin construction of "mobile suits", made in somewhat like the CMA, but larger, designed to dominate.
NC035
Brute force is used by the ECI to quell the violence. Many more civilians tired of the clashes move into newly created space colonies. Many Earth residents talk of how the ECI police treat innocents, regarding all suspects of militia activites. With the combat crushed in Asia, Russia divides from the ECI. Inspired by Russia, the majority of South American countries join Russia in its division. Northern Europe and Australia also follow this movement, and with combined funds, the majority of the population of each country migrate to one space colony named Shangri-La.
The ECI is worried about this combined movement, and in an attempt to control this force, siege Shangri-La, forcing the union of countries to sign a non-combat treaty. The union of countries meet the siege with the newly created combat mobile suit XTM-01 Hellspawn. The ECI fleet, only armed with conventional battleships and fighter craft, had no effective counter to the enemy mobile suits.
Late NC035
ECI rolls out its newest war machine, the ED-1.1, called the "Lets call it this for now ok? GM". With the crushing defeat at Shangri-La, the fleet return to its major space station to resupply and deploy the ED-1.1 against the XTM-01. The Shangri-La governement declares war on the ECI, renaming their nation to The Sovereignty Belpha (after the prime minister of Shangri-La). ECI gather forces near Belpha, preparing for the first space-borne war of mankind. Having more space training than the ECI forces, the Belphan army easily overwhelm the ECI mobile suits. Following their retreat at the end of the year, ECI forces return to the Earth bases, preparing for the Belphan invasion. The Belphans begin conversion of selected mobile suit teams to terrestrial-combat based machines.
NC036
With their victory in space, many colony nations join Belpha, creating a formal alliance by August. Named the Union of Kauz, taking the name from the creator of the colonies, the Union begin developement and extensive production of the XTM-01, evolving the suit design into even better machines. ECI units converge on key bases on Earth, abandoning smaller and less significant bases. Although it was never confirmed, skirmishes between ECI patrol teams and Union Advance Squads on the ground were talked about, although some claim these attacks to be insurgents encouraging the ECI to leave their regions. Talk of the Earth bound civilians being involved with the Union spreads, as civilians are seen using Union model mobile suits fighting the ECI patrols. The council at the head of ECI worry that civilians would then overthrow the ECI with help from the Union. Military hold of major civilian centres are relinquished, as all ECI personel are relocated to key bases.
NC036-38
Tension reaches a boiling point, as the ECI have monitored the Union movements in space. The Union seem to have assembled orbiting construction yards, as a convenient way of deploying their war machines on the Earth. However, the Union overestimate the ECI at this move, as the construction yards were easily hit by special ICBM's from ECI strongholds. ICBM's are fired at the first few yards, and to which the Union abandon this effort. Many prefabricated, but incomplete yards are left in orbit. Union forces back off from plans to actually invade the Earth, as Minister Belpha realises this was not his original intention since he had set up the Sovreignty. The ECI see this as a sign of weakness, and launch mobile suit teams into space, securing the incomplete construction yards, and setting them up as forward bases.
