We start with a Hare - who sets a course : ?
The course consists of marks on the ground - usually flour but sometimes shredded paper depending on the terrain The object of the Hash is to catch the Hare (but sometimes the Hare may have put the course down the day before - so there is no show of catching him) The Hare can also put down checks and false trails to hold up the pack, or go the other way. This is a check
: a back check
:
and this is the On Home : These were set by Pothole and are a piss poor example - but there you go ! At the end of the trail you find the On Home - so you can go back to where you started (unless advised otherwise)
This is a Down Down
The Down Down is where the FRB proclaim how close they were to catching the Hare, The SCB boast how much they managed to cut off the course and the pack complain how no one at the front was calling - and they probably didn't find the On Home anyway. FRB = Front Running Bastards SCB = Short Cutting Bastards On Home is the finish of the course we were all looking for. Down Down is the after match function and almost always is at the same location we left from. But 1st rule of Hash is that there are no rules - so it could be anywhere! Our Hash has some tradition. On reaching 25 Runs a hasher is expected to shout the Hash a bottle of (cheap) rum. At 100 runs it is your own choice
'Dogshit' does the honours
As does Snail at Animal's 500th
'Blowjob' gets the 'Dick'
Another tradition - It gets awarded each week This was a glass 'dick' at one time but it gets broken or goes missing or doesn't arrive at the Down Down. It is still a Dick - no matter what shape it is. Animal got it - because he had done 500 Runs
and Gerihatrix got it because he was calling On On when he was at least 1km off the trail. (and confused Bevan, the New Boot AKA Big Bird)
We sometimes provide a feed
Sometimes it could be the local version of McDonalds Big One At combined runs you will recognise us from the chap below who lives on the front of our Tee Shirts |
