Sure, anyone can be a cleric. But to be a cleric that people LIKE is a hard mission to
accomplish. There are some clerics who sit and rez pup and put their own life ahead of their
teammates. While others shrine all the time. Most people thank the rez pup for rasing them, but
the real people you never have time to thank are the battle healers. Its a rare occasion to find a
good battle healer. But if you want people to respect you as a cleric, and have more fun playing
magestrom, then a battle healer is the way to go. Battle healing is a hard thing to master, there
are many things that make up a good battle healer. For example, if you want the battle heal, you
cant be afraid of death. Of course they will attack you, but there are also many things you can do
to avoid death.
First of all if your alone, and someone approaches you from a different team. Don't think
that you cant make them run for there life. I don't normally suggest fighting on a cleric because
of the fact that fighting takes magic. Yes wounding spells hurt, I would suggest using a cramping
spell on them first. Then if you have it, bleed 2 or 3. Bleed 1 lasts only 2 seconds and is a waste
of mana. After you have cramped and bled them, strife around in a circle by holding q or w, up
and left or up and right. And watch your cross-hair, when it is lined up with target, fire 5 or so
times, then re aim. If they are strafing around in a circle too, then aim a little in front of them and
fire. If you about to die, cast walls all over to block attacks as you heal yourself. Remember you
have 2 advantages over them! You can heal yourself, and you can also see when their about
dead. You generally can never win a battle with a flying mentalist. Arcanists also are hard to win
a fight with. Because of their voiding power, you need you magic badly! Especially If your a
battle healer, you need your magic and ley very badly. Most of the time you are the only battle
healer, like I said its a rare occasion to find a battle healer. When you are the only battle healer its
hard to keep a whole team healthy. Your not a bad cleric if people still die a lot even with you
battle healing them. Your not a god, you don't have infinite magic! If you don't have enough
magic to heal them, protect them until you do have enough. You can do that by using airwalls,
yes airwalls are the first wall you get, and one of the most important. If you are a low level
airwalls take mana, but form about level 6+ or so they don't. So cast airwalls all around them
repeatedly until the shooter gives up. An airwall can block all most any attack. Some storms can
get you a bit through airwalls and target spells can also. You can use waterwalls if you want, but
they take more mana and their not as good because you cant see threw them. Its nice to be able
to see where the attacker is coming from and where people are. You can also protect them by
using wood walls, or any solid wall. When your teammate runs, and the attacker is chasing him.
Cast a solid wall in front of the attacker to stop them from following your teammate. While the
wall is up, listen, if you can hear them trying to break it down, cast another one and then use a
target spell, like cramp, fracture, or paralysis. So if they do get it down they cant run very fast. If
you are behind them when they are chasing your teammate, use those spells to slow them down.
You can try to cast a wall in front of them, but 80% of the time you will end up blocking yourself.
If you don't have a solid wall, you can use air or water walls too, they will at least stop them form
firing at your teammate until they get threw the wall. It will also slow them down as they run
threw it. Keep in mind you can use the same method for yourself, if you are being chased. Try to
heal your teammates as they run away so that another attacker cant finish them off as your
teammate is running away. Everyone loves a cleric who uses cramp, fracture, and paralysis.
Because it slows the opponent down so they can dodge their attacks and get more hits in on them.
Their is one more way to protect your teammate. Use yourself as a human shield. You need the
protections spells badly for being a battle healer. The prayer spells will lower the amount of
damage you take form almost all attacks. Most of the time you will get gang banged by 5 or 6
people. Sorry but I have no remedy for gangbangs. All I can say is run like hell, cast walls, heal
yourself, move, strife, duck and try to find someone on your team to help you fend them off. You
can run into your shrine...90% of the time they wont follow you, but sometimes they do. And
when they do do, DO NOT wall the entrance to your shrine! If your teammates come running
into shrine for there life, they have no way of getting in fast enough to avoid death. Magicians are
lucky because clerics love to hand around them. Its a good idea to hang around a magician who
has bolts. Simply for the fact that you cast your cramping spells on them and they have no
chance. Magicians and Clerics need a lot of ley. So when you come across a pool that can be
biased bias it. Or cover your teammate as he biases the pool. You can do so by throwing air or
water walls in the pool they are biasing. But not everyone wants walls around them when their in
a pool. Those people would be arcanists. They need only the pool to get ley and can fire out of
any pool.
The map is a really important for a cleric, use your map a lot. Pat attention to where your
teammates are. If there is a lone yellow dot, run to him. If its a flying mentalist you can leave
him. Ments are good at solo fighting. Look for your teammates running into your shrine. 80%
of the time they are running in there to get away form an attacker because they are close to dying.
When you heal some one, don't just heal them until the white outline (cleric vision) goes away
form their name tag. That doesn't mean they are fully healed. Heal them until you get no more
experience points from healing them. DO NOT do that on large groups of your team when they
are in battle, you don't have enough mana to do that. On the map look for a teammate who is in
a weird place, not moving. Generally its some one hiding and waiting for their health to go back
up. Or its a dead person. If you are the only cleric on the team. Its not a good idea to battle heal
all the time. Because they don't like to wait to be raised for ever. Yes it is okay to raise
somewhere out of your shrine. When you do so, check the area for no opponents. Then cast
some airwalls, walk into them, call dead, give them life, start to heal them, and keep one finger on
the button to switch to airwalls again so you can quicky snap some up if an opponent approaches.
If they do come, most people have no honor, so they will try to kill the freshly raised. Use the
protection strategies so they can run to someplace safe while you wall off the attacker and finish
healing them. Most of the time if it is another cleric that approaches, he/she has honor and will
not rez kill. But don't take that gamble, still protect your teammate. If you ever come upon a
newly raised. Don't rez kill them. Instead wall them in so they don't mistake you for an attacker
and leave the area. If there is already a lot of other cleric battle healing, check for one in the
entrance of your shrine. If there is not one there you can heal people that run into the shrine. No
cleric is to little to battle heal. A lot of the time low level clerics won't battle heal because they
think they cant stay alive long. Let me tell you, clerics can take some beatings. Especially if they
have the prayer spells. Speaking of spells, want to know the best spells to research as a cleric?
Sure you do! I would suggest you get the following spells by level 15

Call Dead
Life Giving
Heal Other 3
Healing 3
Prayer 5
Wounding 3
Fracture
Wood Wall

One Problem I have found is that I never have enough room in the 1-10 keys to have all the spells
I want easily accessible. But here are some spells that you use the most:

1: Call Dead
2: Life Giving
3: Heal Other
4: Wounding
5: Air Wall
6: Fracture/Cramp/Paralysis
7: Healing
8: Wood Wall(Any Solid Wall)
9: Dispell
0: Prayer

Sure getting walls takes away from your spell picks so you may not be able to get a high
level spell such as death knell, but they are VERY useful. A Spell like Death Knell you don't use
a whole lot. Sure high level clerics can kill very well, but you make much more exp if you heal
people instead. I don't suggest getting any walls higher then Woodwall, because of the fact you
will end up not being able to get spells like prayer 5, full heal and wounding triad. Wood walls
are strong enough.
As a cleric you can shrine very well. Because of how many hits you can take, clerics make
good shriners. If you plan to shrine someone, first prepare. Talk to your team in directed chat,
and ask them if anyone will help you shrine. If they say yes tell them to meet you in the pool by
your shrine. Then once your shrining party has arrived (if any), Turn on your highest prayer, Put
waterwall or airwall in your spell picks if its not already. And sneak into their shrine. Once your
in the shrine, cast as many waterwalls or airwalls as you can on the shrine. This will block a lot of
attacks before any hit you. Then switch to, if you have it, a solid wall. Shrine until some one
comes, run from them because clerics cannot regenerate mana in other teams shrines. When you
are running cast a solid wall so block them from following you. Cast more if they knock them
down, heal yourself of any damage while your getting out of there. Shrining is a good thing to do
when your team could win if another team was shrined. Don't shrine until about the last 15
minutes of the game. You can shrine any time to get a raiding team out of your shrine. For
example lets say your in a cath game on Order. And balance is raiding your shrine. If your the
only cleric run and hide, so they cant shrine you then kill you so you cant heal at your shrine. If
your not run to the Balance shrine and shrine them so most of them leave your shrine to go back
and fix their own shrine. When shrining if there is lets say a cleric in the balance shrine, use if you
have them, solid walls and trap the rez pup in the walls. I don't suggest fighting them because
you have no mana or ley in others shrines. Walling people in is a hard thing to perfect. Its easy
with earth wall or ice wall, but with wood walls is harder because wood walls aren't as thick.
Now lets say your team has been shrined and your the only person left alive on your team.
Everyone in the game will be hunting for you. The best thing to do their is hide, if your in the
keep, hide in the outer layer of the keep. If your in the cats, hide in the hidden doors. If your in
the Cath, hide in the library place stairs, or in the back entrance to the green shrine. Once you
have hidden yourself, wall yourself in and call dead, raise one, heal him totally and raise another.
That's another thing NEVER mass rez. It will only make all of the people wait longer to be
healed, increasing the chance of them being rez killed. If you are in the valhalla at the time of
when your team is shrined, ask your team to tell you when the other team has left. Then raise a
few and try to get your shrine back. A wise thing to do is to call the dead until you call (if there is
one) another cleric. Raise him and he will help you. If the game is almost over, try to keep the
other 2 shrines down just for a few sec until the time runs out on the game clock.

Airwalls are one of a clerics best spells, you can use them in so many ways! For example,
lets say your in a cath game, on balance. And order is in your shrine pool, shooting at you and
your team in the shrine. Take out your air walls and cast them in the hallway blocking their shots
as you walk down the hall. This way you and your team can get close enough to attack without
getting the crap kicked out of them just getting down the hallway. Another time to use them is
when a team has cast a mana wall or void wall or somthing in the air, so they can shoot under it.
You can cast airwalls to block shots, keeping them busy until your team can go around and
attack. Take out arcane signs, so none of your team will be hit by them. To take out signs, turn
on your prayer, switch to healing, and hit one bomb or bleed and heal yourself and hit the next.
Repeat til all the signs are gone. As for mana walls, tell your team they can walk threw them and
when they do heal them as they walk threw. Mana walls hurt pretty bad to walk through. Mana
walls look like air walls but they are bright white and look like white fire. A solid wall like icewall
or wood wall can be used to get pools like cpool in thunder keep or cath. In thunder keep, cast as
many walls as you can in the enterance to the cpool. Then bias the pool and leave by the stairs.
In the cath, cast them in front all they way across, or cast them just in front of the pool. You can
combine solid walls and water walls to do open raises. Cast solid ones across almost as far as you
can go, then cast 1 water wall to finish it off, that way u can raise some one and they can still get
out to go fight again. Most people don't know how many walls they get at each level. So i will
explain this

Level 1: 2 walls at a time
Level 5: 3 walls at a time
Level 10: 4 walls at a time
Level 15: 5 walls at a time
Level 20: 6 walls at a time
Level 25: 7 walls at a time
Level 30: 8 walls at a time

4 walls at a time is nice to have, because you can protect your shrine like that. Cast solid walls all
they way around your shrine, so no one can get in and shrine you. If your being shrined and you
go to your shrine and you are blocked by solid walls, use dispell to knock them down faster. It is
best to walk into the wall as you dispell so you can get on the other side before they can cast
another one. To check your lag type "*d f" in chat. Look in the bottom right hand corner and it
should say something like: "L: 200" or close to that. That # after the "L:" is your lag. If your lag
is about 3,000 or more. You should go shrine, because you can sit in their shrine and it wont go
down for a while, then one some one comes you run. Even after you are out of their shrine, you
will continue to damage it because of lag. Heal yourself as you get hit.
If some one runs into your shrine, wall them off form running out. And attack them until
they are dead, they wont be able to run away cause of the walls and they wont be able to attack
very well cause they probably have low ley in your shrine. If you see a teammate who has been
cramped, fractured, or paralysised then use heal other one time on him and it will make it so no
one can see that he is cramped. This helps so that they don't attack him just because he wont be
able to fight as well cramped. If you see one of your teammates who is bleeding, keep healing
him first. Because there is a good chance he will bleed to death, especially in low level games. If
you have full magic power and you see your teammates there, but no one has a white outline
around their name tag, use heal other on them one time, and watch your exp. If your exp goes up
then that means that person isn't fully healed, and keep healing that person til they are. As you
play you figure out more things and tricks, like if u continuously fire wounding 1 no one will walk
in front of it. If you want to create a cleric now, here are some of the things you want to roll til
you get them high:

Intuition (have high power points..aka mana)
Constitution (take more hits, aka HP)
Quickness (run faster)
Self-discipline (resist target spells)
Agility (how fast you strafe..aka run sideways)

The most common appearance for a cleric is the old guy(3 over). A cleric requires a lot of
strategy and tactics. There are many more things to know about being a cleric but I have only
covered the basics of being a good cleric. Experiment with clerics and you can become a master.
A common question asked is can clerics make kills, Well a teen age cleric cant very well. From
Levels 1-6 you can make a lot of kills. Form 6 to 15 or so its harder to make kills. From 15-20 it
all depends on how well u can fight. If you use the strategy I taught you on fighting, you can kill
a lot. Once you are level 20 + you can make kills again. I hope because of this 5 page paper,
there will be more, better clerics out there on magestrom.
