Retribution is a quick and dirty program that lets victims of hacks and hack attempts fight back.

Too often, the "abuse@lax.com" and "security@2bad.net" people could care less when you inform them that there are hackers using their systems. This then, is the tool that will make a "little bit harder to ignore" noise.

Retribution will:
1: Send a pop-up to the hacker, informing them that they are being reported.
2: Send a pop-up to the 1280 IP addresses before and after the hacker, informing the recipient of the hacker's IP address, and time of attack. It will also suggest that the hacker is 'in your local area', 'may be of foreign origin', and 'is working to take control of American computer systems"; which may tend to piss off more than a few people. But that is the intent. By having an IP address to be pissed off *about*, they will vent their anger at the people who so richly deserve it. If enough people receive this information and register complaints with their local ISP, then they will have little choice but to investigate.

Note: This will send 1280 pop-ups using the net "Send" command, and will slow down your computer for the 2-3 minutes it takes to do this. Keep in mind, some firewalls will 'bounce back' certain events, like pop-up messages, so you may see several 'hits' recorded by your firewall. This is normal.

Here's what is sent to the hacker:

Here's what happens when you try to hack my system:
Everyone on your server, from <ipaddress> to <ipaddress>
Is being sent a popup message just like this one, except that on theirs, you are
being identified as a hacker, a security threat, and a possible foreign national.
The IP address <ipaddress> will be reported to your ISP by any number of people,
all on your local system, all afraid of security threats. You WILL be investigated.
Bye-bye take care.
Thank you.

Here is what is sent to everyone on his LAN or ISP:

My appologies for this pop-up, but there is a computer hacker on your system.
At <time> today, this suspect launched an aggresive computer attack from your local area.
This illegal activity is being performed by someone on your local computer system.
His IP Address is <ipaddress>
This is a security risk against targeted American computer systems, possibly by a foreign interest.
Please report this IP address to your local Internet Service Provider immediately.
Thank You for helping to eliminate threats against America."
