Native Species Most animals are almost extinxt in mauritius. If you're lucky you might see:

Mongoose
Java Deer
Mauritian Kestrel

Species Introduced into the island but are part of the species now:

Songbirds
little red Madagascar fody
jive talking Indian mynah
the red-whiskered bulbul

In the ocean
corals, mollusks, turtles, dolphins, four types of whale and innumerable fish

900 plant species, almost a third are endemic to Mauritius. Some of the most common examples are giant Indian banyans, beach-hugging casuarinas and brilliant red-flowering flamboyants.

but in most cases you'll be more likely to see the domestic guard dog.
