A confused, frightened child, Aspenarrived on the cruise ship Paradise thought to have sunk for close to ten years. With no memories of who she is or where she came from, Aspen was adopted by the naval officer, Captain Matthews who was also onboard. It was the day Aspen's life started. With strong ties to the water, Aspen goes on to become an Olympic swimmer, who was later thrown out for alleged "blood doping", never mind that she has higher oxygen levels in her blood than normal people. Later, she becomes a marine biologist, and eventually becomes involved in the research at a high-tec underwater lab,DMD.
Later, Cannon Hawke revealed that she was the daughter of the rulers of her people. She and her brother went missing after Killian and her crew attempted to kidnap them a number of years ago. Cannon, her protector at the time and injured after his confrontation with Killian was unable to retrieve them. It was his craft Aspen was examining in the DMD prior to it's destruction. However, Aspen still has no recollection of her past.
