These guys were some of the first figures that I casted. They came out really well.

The first figure in the upper left was an idea inspired by Joeryhno over at Joecustoms. After seeing his idea I just had to figure out a way to cast this figure. An excellent design.

The figure in the upper right was a Rit Dye job that went terribly wrong but came out really cool.

The single orange figure in the middle is my personal take on the v1 sculpt of this figure. I'm really happy with this design and I've gotten a lot of great feedback on it as well.

The helmet on the red guy in the middle was a serious improvement on the original design of that particular head. I casted the original head, sized up the mold, modified it to hold a visor and then dremeled it out into a helmet.

I decided I wanted to try a 3 pack. I wanted each guy in the group to have a slightly different function from each other. The one on the far left has a built in communications antennae and removable mic on his helmet. I also modified the backpack to fit this particular torso. Notice too that he has a pistol holster in plasce of a knife sheath. I modified that part of the leg to fit the holster and then molded it. You can get a better idea of him in the last pic that I posted.

The guy in the middle there was really nothing special about him. The guy on the far right I casted a set of armor for him. I wanted to have a heavy armor guy in this group. I'mnot sure why the manufacturers never did come out with a character that actually used this armor instead of someone just disguised in it.

I'm going to be casting a heavy weapons version of these guys in the coming weeks.

The number one criticism of these last 3 guys that I've gotten a lot of is that people don't like the boots I chose. I was going for articulation and that's why I picked these boots. There isn'tmuch to chose from out there as far as ankle articultion goes and I really don't think that ninja boots would have looked very good on these guys.

If anyone has any comments or suggestions please feel free to drop me a line. I'm gonna be posting any comments that I recieve on these and my other customs in my comments section so if you don't want your comment posted make sure to include that in your email. Thanks.

Update - 5/19/06
Not much on this update. The small pic in the top row in the middle you can see I changed his upper arms and you can see that his face is painted. I actually casted his head in fleshtone and used a Pollyscale black to paint the mask and then other Pollyscale colors to paint the features of his face. The reason I use Pollyscale is because it has resin in the paint. The paint adheres extremely well to a properly prepped resin casted part. It is tought though to use on flexable materials like helmets and arms and lower legs. But however I have come across a material called Precote 22. It's specially designed to stick to resin and to take acrylic and latex paints. So far the testing that I have done with has produced very good results.
