In the history of civilization, no work of science has so comprehensive impact on the course of human development as Information Technology (IT). Undoubtedly, IT has been the greatest change agent of the century and promises to ply an important role even more dramatically in the coming years. IT is changing every aspect of human life: communications, trade, manufacturing, services, culture, entertainment, education, research, national defense and global security. IT is breaking old batteries and building new connections in the emerging Global Village. IT has become the central determinant in the process of nations, communities and individuals.
For Pakistan, the rise of INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY is an opportunity to overcome historical disabilities and once again become the master of one's own destiny. IT is a tool that will enable Pakistan to achieve the goal of becoming a strong, prosperous and secure nation. In doing so, IT promises to compress the time it would take for PAKISTAN to advance rapidly in the march of development and occupy a position of honor and pride in community of nations.
IT plays an important role in the demands of Engineering Education. The demand for IT
geared education in technological and engineering field has prompted the University Of Engineering and Technology, Taxila to enter this field.
This project is developed in accordance with the provisions of the National Education Policy (1998-2010) in which due emphasis has been placed on the application pf Software and Information Technology.
The development and industrial progress is synonyms with technological advancement of the country and is directly related to the advancement in technical education. Industrially, Pakistan is in the development stage and its agrarian economy will have to augmented by a sound industrial base, capable of providing rising standard of living to its population in terms of better food, clothing and shelter and more efficient transportation, utilities and services. Pakistan can embark upon the threshold of a developed economy only if proper headway is made towards mechanization of agriculture, expansion and improvement in modes of natural resources, harnessing of reserves and improvement in modes of communication are the basic engineering functions. There has been a country wise recognition of the importance of engineering education, which has emerged as is reflected by the large number of applications for admission to engineering colleges and university. In order to meet these requirements not only new departments are opened but also the existing ones should be consolidated and improved i.e. E-COMMERCE , Industrial Automation Software Development and Significance of IT engines.
