The Family

"Dad's Side"

This is my Grandpa Schoenfeld serving during WWII. This is my favorite picture of him! I had it enlarged and it hangs in my dorm room at NIU.

This is my grandparents wedding picture.

This is a picture of my grandparents at our condo celebrating Christmas with us.

This is a picture of me at one of my birthdays with my Uncle Don

This is my cousin Marc and my Aunt Bonnie at my high school graduation.

This is a picture of my Grandma, my Aunt Bonnie, and my Aunt Jan at my birthday.

This is a poem that I wrote after seeing a abandoned gas station during our vacation down Route 66.

Being that my great-grandfather use to own a Sinclair gas station, it inspired me to write this poem.

The hustle and bustle of families traveling west
Echoed off my thriving walls
My life was filled with energy and excitement until
A newer, larger and faster highway was built
The kicks on Route 66 soon left

I was left in the dust
My pumps were pried out
The paint chipped off my garage
My asphalt cracked and was becoming filled with weeds

I have come to peace with myself now
Though I am old and weak
People still drive by and tell me
You are where I got my kicks
On Route 66
