Timeline-beginning of season 2. Andie and Jack came to Capeside but Andie and Pacey never went out nor did Dawson and Joey date.

Chapter 6

    Pacey was in the middle of a dream that he did not want to end. He dreamt that Joey had spent the night with him. Purely innocent. She had just slept in his bed with him. He had slept with his arms around her, not a care in the world. He hated to wake up from it but he knew he had to. He opened his eyes and was shocked with was he saw. He wasn't in his room. He wasn't in his bed. Nor was he alone. He looked down and saw none other than Joey Potter lying with her face in his chest.

    Holy shit it wasn't a dream!!! Pacey thought. Then it all came flooding back to him. The last beating, him going to Joey, her punching his dad, him temporarily moving in with them, his nightmare, her waking him up and comforting him, and lastly.... her climbing into bed with him.

    He vividly remembered his nightmare. He had dreamt that he'd just gotten home from somewhere; he didn't know where. He had walked up to his room and go in bed. About 5 minutes later his dad had come in with a gun. He pointed it at Pacey's head. That's when he had been awoken by Joey. That was one dream he was happy to be brought out of. Then she had asked to stay there that night. Of course in a pure non sex way. It was definitely an un-Joey thing to do. He was still in shock.

    He didn't want to wake her so he just stared at her sleeping form. God she's beautiful he thought. He was content just staring at her.
 

    She knew he had woken up. She woke up right when he did; probably from his stirring. She couldn't believe what she had done last night. She didn't even know she had asked to sleep there with him until after she said it. She didn't know what had possessed her to ask. She looked into his eyes and saw the hurt.. the sadness. She saw his big strong form shaking absolutely petrified because of a nightmare. She saw his expression one of a vulnerable little boy's.

    She didn't plan to make this a habit. That probably wouldn't be good. It would complicate things. She just had to last night. Just to make sure he was ok. She hoped he understood. She hoped she didn't make a complete fool of herself. Well, I can't change it now she thought. She wondered if she should let him know she was awake. He obviously couldn't tell because her face was buried in his chest. God he smells great!!!! She decided that she would stir a little, then yawn, turn over and open her eyes. And that's what she did.

Joey- Hey.

Pacey- Hey.

Joey- Did you sleep ok?

Pacey- Yeah I slept great. You?

Joey- Yeah. I hope I didn't make you feel uncomfortable last night. If I did I'm really sorry, I just-

Pacey- Jo, don't worry about it. You being here soothed me. I haven't had a night sleep like that in a long time.

Joey- Well good I'm glad.

Pacey- I smell breakfast.

Joey- Mmm, me too. Wow Pace, it's 9:00. How's it feel to be up before noon?

Pacey- Oh you're so funny Potter!!

Joey- I know!

Pacey- Wanna go eat?

Joey- Sure. Let me go out first and assure Bessie that nothing happened last night. I'm sure she noticed I wasn't in my bed.

Pacey- That sounds like a good idea. I'll be out in a few minutes.

Joey- K, see ya then.

    Both Pacey and Joey knew they had a lot of talking to do. Not only the whole situation but about last night; the dream and her sleeping there. However, neither wanted to ruin the good mood so they agreed silently to talk later. That seemed to be a growing theme. Joey enters the kitchen to see Bessie making eggs while other breakfast foods cooked.

Joey- Hey Bess.

Bessie- Hi Joey. Sleep well? Or were you to busy with Pacey to sleep at all?

Joey- Bess I assure you nothing happened. It was completely platonic. Me and Pace are just friends.

Bessie- I see. So why is it you slept in his room when you have your own right down the hall?

Joey- Well he wasn't doing to well last night and I was really worried. I couldn't leave him. I'm sorry but really nothing happened.

Bessie- All right Jo, I believe you. But make sure nothing happens. You're far to young to be getting involved with sex and-

Joey- Bess, please; it's to early to talk about things that won't be happening for a LONG time.

Bessie- All right. But before you do anything-

Joey- I'll come to you.

Bessie- You promise?

Joey- I promise.

Bessie- Ok, good. Now go get Pacey and Bodie so we can eat. There's still no guests so maybe during breakfast we can finalize some things to do with Pacey.

Joey- Ok. Be right back.

    Joey knew this was going to be an emotionally exhausting day; it already was. She knew she'd have to eat a lot of breakfast to prepare.
