Timeline-Beginning of season 2. Andie and Jack came to Capeside but Andie and Pacey never went out nor did Dawson and Joey date.
Authors note- I know I told you guys that Dawson and Joey never went out but she did always pine away for him. (Just imagine how Joey acted in season 1)

                                                 Chapter 3

Joey-Pacey?? (Joey whispers to the still crying figure laying on her lap.)

    The music had just ended and Pacey sat up rubbing his eyes. Joey took the opportunity to run over and turn off the music. Then she returned to the sofa and took Pacey’s hands in hers.

Joey-Pace, what happened to you? Who did you get in a fight with?

    He knew this would happen one day. He knew he couldn't hide the abuse forever but he didn't know he'd have to deal with it coming out so soon. He considered lying. Maybe he could say he got jumped and was just scared. No that would work. Not only would that make him look like a baby but this was Capeside; the biggest law broken was going 40 MPH in a 35 MPH zone. He wracked his brain for any lie, any excuse he could give her and was disappointed when he didn't come up with one. Maybe he should just tell her.... After all he did trust her. But would she would believe him?

Joey-Pace, c'mon your scaring me. What the hell happened? Who did this to you?

    Pacey couldn't believe what he saw. Joey was almost in tears. Why?? Did she really care about him that much? Sure he knew under all the banter she didn't completely hate him, but he didn't know she cared that much. How could he not tell her now?! Well here goes nothing Pacey thought to himself.

Pacey-Ok Joey, you wont like what I’m about to say. Actually, you may not even believe it. But please believe me, I wouldn't lie to you about something like this. Now, Joey before I tell you, you have to promise that what I’m about to say will stay just between you and me. You can’t tell ANYONE else. Not even Dawson. Ok?

Joey-I’m sorry Pace, but I can’t promise that without knowing what it is.

Pacey-Jo, I don't think I can tell you unless you promise me that.

Joey-We can discuss that after. Please, Pace, just tell me.

    Well, he couldn't exactly just not tell her now. But what if she told someone? I can convince her not to he told himself. Ok lets get this over with.

Pacey-Ok, Joey......ummm...my dad kinnda did this.

    She didn't know why, nor did he, but she just broke down crying. How could someone, never mind his own father, do this to him?!?! This kind, gentle, outstanding person?!?!? She should've known. He never got along with his dad and always hated being home. She just chalked that up to them not getting along. If she'd known this was why then..... Before she could continue to process a thought she felt herself being pulled into Pacey’s strong embrace. She couldn't stop the tears from coming. She cried for Pacey’s hurting, she cried that she never figured it out, she even cried because she was so furious with that ass whole John Witter.

Pacey-Joey don't cry. Please don't cry. I’m ok, I’m still alive and kickin’.

Joey-Pace, is this something he does a lot?

    Really she didn't need an answer. She already knew. Her suspicions were confirmed when she was met by silence. She thought he wasn't gonna answer when....

Pacey- Yeah, Jo, it is. But never this bad.

Joey-Oh God Pacey! How could he do this to you?! What a monster!! Why didn't you ever tell me?!?! I could've helped, I could've at least tried to help! I mean, you didn't even tell Dawson, which I don't get but that doesn't matter. He's never going to touch you again!! I don't care what we have to do. We could run away, or take him to court, or kill him, or you could live here!! Yeah for the time being you'll stay here and then we'll take him to court, and then..

Pacey-Jo,’listen to yourself. Calm down. Now one thing at a time. I never told anyone because..well...I dunno, for a few reasons.

Joey-Such as??

Pacey-Well I didn't wan pity for one. And I didn't want this to get out. I mean c'mon Jo who would believe me over him? I’m just Pacey the town loser while he's John the town sheriff. And Jo, we cant run away and we cant kill him. You’re not think rationally. And I’m not taking him to court!!

Joey- All right I’ll give you the running away and killing things but Pace, you gotta do something. People will believe you. Look at you! People can see you've been beaten up!!!

Pacey-Jo, I’m not taking him to court.

Joey-Ok look, we'll talk about that later. But you are staying here. I will not take no for an answer!! No way are you staying at that house a minute longer!!

Pacey-Joey, I can’t stay here. I’d just be in the way. I doubt Bessie would like it not to mention my Dad. I doubt he'd let me leave.

Joey- Pace, Bessie loves you, she wouldn't care. And we can make up a lie, she doesn't even have to know why you'll be here. And as far as your dad goes…well… just sneak in and get your stuff. He doesn't have to know your here.

Pacey-Jo, he could find me. This is Capeside, not New York. It’s not easy to hide out.

Joey- Ok your right. Well we'll go over there together and you'll just tell him your staying with me. If I’m there I doubt he'll do anything. Please Pacey, it’s worth a try.

    He truly couldn't believe she was doing all of this for him. He was truly touched. He didn't think it would work, but what the hell? After dropping this bomb on her the least he could do was put away some of her worries.

Pacey-Ok, Jo I’ll stay here for a while. But if your coming with me to get my stuff then your waiting outside. In case anything happens I don't want you in there, ok?

Joey-Ok.

    Joey knew full well that if she heard any commotion in the house she'd be in there faster then John Witter could land his first punch.

Joey-I’m gonna take care of you Pace. He'll never hurt you again.

    And with that she embraced him. They probably stayed like that for at least 10 minutes. But neither cared. After they broke apart and got on things such as their shoes and coats they took off to Pacey’s house. Pacey was more then a little scared because he knew he'd have to face the biggest obstacle of all; his father Sheriff John Witter.
