Chapter 7

    Pacey was awoken to the distant sound of someone calling his name.

Doug- Pacey, wake up.

Pacey- I'm up!

    Pacey opened his eyes and looked around, noticing that he wasn't in his room. Actually, he was in Joeys.

Pacey- What am I doing-

    Then it all came back to Pacey. He must've somehow fallen asleep after falling on Joeys bed.

Pacey- What time is it?

Doug- It's only 10.

Pacey- Oh. So did you find anything out?

Doug- No, I'm sorry. Now, we have a slight problem.

Pacey- Oh God, what?

Doug- Well the rain could've washed away a lot of useful clues like fingerprints and tire tracks.

Pacey- Shit.

Doug- As you probably know it's pretty obvious that whatever Joey has been taken. Seeing as how Dawson didn't leave her alone very long it would have had to be someone who was already lurking around the ruins, but in the chilly weather, not many people are. As you probably know there's a small little cave right in the ruins, which just so happens to be right around the spot where Dawson and Joey were. I'm thinking this guy that you heard about was probably, temporarily hiding there or he was at the ruins and when Joey and Dawson came he ducked into there. What might of happened is maybe after Dawson left Joey saw him and he took her, knowing that she wouldn't just let him go on his merry way.

Pacey- Oh my God.

Doug- But I don't think he would seriously hurt her.

Pacey- Why not?

Doug- Because this guy is wanted on some serious charges and I doubt he'd want to add murder to that list.

Pacey- Then what would he be doing with her?

Doug- Many things. He could be having her do stuff for him like picking up food in stores so he won't be seen. He could be keeping her until he reaches the border and can escape. There's many possibilities, but really I don't think murder is one.

Pacey- I hope you're right about that. Have you run this all by Bessie?

Doug- Yeah, I have, but I think you should probably call Dawson and tell him everything.

Pacey- Yeah, I should. I want to call my other friends too.

Doug- Well seeing as how this isn't an official case yet, that might not be such a good idea.

Pacey- They have a right to know. They won't tell anyone.

Doug- Ok. Dads men came back but they didn't find anything out in the neighboring towns. I got a formal report from Dawson about what happened, and we only have to wait a few more hours before she can be reported missing.

Pacey- Did Bessie get in touch with Bodie yet?

Doug- Yeah, he's on his way home and he should be back in about an hour and a half.

Pacey- Thank you for everything Doug. I really appreciate it.

Doug- It's not any trouble. Now why don't you make your phone calls?

Pacey- Ok.

    Just as Pacey was about to pick up the phone, it rang. They both looked at it hoping it was something to do with Joey. They both heard an expectant Bessie answer the phone.

Bessie- Hello?!
