A day (or two) in the life of Fergie, my MF35.
This will hopefully help anyone who owns or is interested in owning one of the greatest tractors ever made,
Entry for July 11, 2006
Ok, where was I? Ah yes the Signature 2000. What's a Signature 2000, you say? Well it's supposed to be a lawn tractor, I called it a riding lawn mower, (with as much disrespect as possible), but mostly it was just a piece of junk. It was a 18 horse 42" cut mower. I thought it would be great, it looked great after all. Nobody ever told me how bad a riding lawn mower could be. The only good thing I ever had to say about it was that the Briggs and Stratton motor always ran, never failed to start, (when the battery was charged) and other wise never gave me a bit of trouble.

But a mower does not an engine make, and shortly after bringing this thing home large pieces started breaking, with an alarming regularity. You know little things... like the mowing deck, belts, electrical system, and much more. But, I did have an ace in the hole, the extended warrantee. Bought and paid for 3 years, extended; boy did they loss money on that one! Problem being, when I did bring it in it took 4 to 6 weeks to repair. Meanwhile, the grass was still growing and by the time I got it back it was so high it would tear up something else on the mower. See a pattern here?

So for 3 years, the Signature 2000, was in the shop every other 6 weeks. It was hell. Trust me.

Then I did one of those things that other people don't understand...  many people. I bought a new home... on five acres!!!

Ok you can stop laughing now, remember this IS adventure. I brought the Signature 2000 with me, and tried to mow. Tried. Truth be told, I didn't have 5 full acres of mowing to do, only 2.5 acres are clear. The other half is very deep, east Texas piney woods. But the 2000 couldn't handle 1 Beaumont acre, let alone 2.5.

Tomorrow-- The 2000 in Splendora.
