I am all for learning about black history, but what upsets me is how we are still being seperated by those Conservatives who feel they are doing the world a duty by giving black people a whole month to theirselves! I hate those upidy white crackers who feel like hundreds of years of oppression can be forgotten by a parade, a day off, and some fireworks. Somehow, it fools most people. Not me, I think black people deserve reparations, not really, but it will shut them up from complaining about "The Man". I don't call black people African Americans. No, I hear that is what's politically correct, but to me it just further seperates the groups of people who live in this country. I call them, AMERICANS. They live in America, they are AMERICANS. I call mexicans who live here AMERICANS. I call white people who live in America AMERICANS. Why don't we celebrate our history as a whole people than seperate us by race. It is crap like that that helps creates the ignorance that is the KKK or those stupid white teenager Neo-Nazi's. So fine, I cannot get rid of how people are tagged by their color and paraded through life with various stops at which rich white people look on them and say "Look, now they are being treated fairly". No, that is not fairly. Fairly is being equal. No one deserves special treatment, nor does any group of people deserve a month dedicated to their culture. We should learn about that culture no matter what through reading their writings, looking at their art, and just seeing how they live. If we are going to continue with this Black History crap, I want White History month. |
