Is it really 1984?
Hopefully you at least have a grasp on George Orwell's book, 1984. If not, oh well. You see, the premise of the story is a future in which we are led to believe what we are told, we are watched every moment by authoritive figures, freedoms are gone. Is this really such a fantasy any longer? We are already led to believe what we are told. Think about the entire 'War on Terror'. Our opinions become blocked by yellow journalism, even the 'Minutes of Hate' which is shown in the book is reality. Think about Osama bin Laden, right after 9/11, we were shown pictures of him daily, no matter what we were doing, and were told to hate him, to want him dead, to kill him. Sure, he's a real asshole, but this is just propaganda. Seriously, its the same thing the Nazi's did to a certain extent. The entire hate Jews because a man who was Jewish did a bad thing. Or blame entire problems on them, same thing a lot of media (Western) is doing to Arab people. But then again, if I (A white male) walked around in Pakistan, I would probably either be killed, flogged, or at least looked on badly. I get this treatment, which is wrong. But Arabs receive this treatment in America. No one is right. Fuck judging someone because they are black, brown, worship God differently, drive a Civic, screw that. It's all stupid. Hate someone because they do something bad, hate them for your own reasons, don't hate because you have to. Which is what is happenning to us. Form your own opinions, don't follow the trends and beliefs of others, be a leader. If things continue how they are, things will only get worse, and the idea of freedom and justice will die. Men have always vied for power, and with nothing to stop them, they will take it.
