A girl went before a Wise One on a dark, cloudy day.  her eyes betrayed her troubled soul, even though she didn't want them to.  her heart raced and pounded so loudly in her chest that she just knew He heard it.  Quietly,  she tried to slip in, so His thoughts would not be disturbed, and He knew she was there.  He would recognize her in due time.

The girl knelt to her knees and rested her buttocks against her thighs, as she had been taught to do by this Wise Man.  After a few minutes, the Wise One looked toward her.  The girl whispered, "May this girl approach You, Sir?"  she watched as His head nodded slightly, and He motioned her to His feet.   Slowly, she appriached Him, lowered her lips to the feet of the man she had learned to trust, to the feet of the Man Who had given her no reason to doubt His care.

Instead of the usual nod of His head to kneel at His feet, He opened His arms to her and whispered, "Come, girl."  As she neared Him, her heart fluttered, her eyes filled with tears, He reached out and gently pulled her into His strong lap.   He wiped away her tears with a soft hand across her cheeks.  Eyes met eyes, skin touched skin, and her heart melted with this unusual display of affection toward the girl.  she didn't question it, but cherished the moment.

The girl curled into a gentle ball as He rocked her back and forth, caressed her hair, and patiently waited for the sobs to stop.  He loved this girl, even though she didn't belong to Him.  she was gentle and wild, an enigma just waiting to be discovered, owned, and treasured.  He had known this from the beginning
