Sheeple
definition: people that
live life without
thinking for themselves
and follow those
around them like sheep.
It strikes me strange
that so many
of the people live life
to ideals of
what they think their
ideals should be.
Rather than to
gain knowledge and
experience and try to
work things out
for themselves, people
– especially
the very easily influenced
teenage population they look to find
ideals pre-packaged
and ready to use.
It saddens and angers
me that our society is so materialistic and
consumer driven.
And I’m not saying that I’m not guilty of
having ‘stuff’ myself,
because I do. But rather than owning
something, eating something,
doing something [I’m sure you
can think of other things]
because some magazine told me it’s
the fashionable thing
to do, I decide for me. Things that are in
fashion do not interest
me at all, and it has got to a stage where
it even repels me.
And it is not because what is in fashion is
disgusting, well that’s
arguable, but rather because of what it
stands for. Making
me a horribly biased person. For example, I
may like something I see in a shop, but once I see people
wearing it, it becomes
something I do not want rather than
thinking ‘wow that is
so cool I want it too’. it's kinda like when
debating a point with
someone that totally opposes your view,
you stress your points
heaps more than if you were debating the
same thing would someone
that mostly agreed with you. it's like
when you have a bigger
conflict of interests, you shout your point
to be heard and exaggerate
it or highlight it so that others can
grasp it. Maybe
I’m just purposely difficult, but then again I’m
not because I don’t
need to hunt and own labels or passing
fashion fads to keep
me happy.
There’s little drive
to be individual, but rather, people want to be
accepted, and to be
accepted one must be ‘normal’. This
definition is normal,
is pretty broad, I mean who is normal?
People just want to
blend in, sometimes blend in but be noticeable
at the same time.
For example teenage girls who wear identical
clothes – one might
wear one in a bright colour. Thus making her fashionable and acceptable
as well as special. So special.
