A 7lb 3oz healthy baby girl, born naturally this morning in Portsmouth. Unfortunately she is 3 weeks early and we haven't decided on a name yet... but mum and baby are doing fine! We started getting ready for the hospital this morning at 6am, got there around 8am and she was born just before 11am. It really couldn't have gone better.

They could have come home just 2 hours after the birth (!) but decided to stay overnight for a good rest and some proper lessons in breastfeeding. So I'm all on my own, off to bed in a few, it's been a long long day. Best wishes to all, and for me it's a good lesson in perspective...

I saw forums locked up for hours because a bot was posting its looping message. The forum owner's only tool? Clear the board and hope his regs would come back before the next bot moved in. Old posts couldn't be restored, the top level was simply wiped clean, leaving a fresh canvas for the next bot or flooder. The Trolls response to the owners' plea for help, "Quit your fucking whining and leave us alone!"

Downtime at B's was frequent and often predictable. Bianca's servers were in San Francisco, the only Troll who knew how to fix them was in New York, a speedy return to online status was science fiction. I will concede that the Trolls had a janitor (or to be PC, should I say 'Custodian'?) in the S.F. region who could go in and give the servers a swift-kick in the hard drive, which was successful only occasionally. Sometimes, the swift-kick repair resulted in megabytes of lost data, but, tough shit. Your membership got lost, tough shit, your forum was deleted, tough shit, five years of member data was lost, tough shit, suck it up and move on. It was always a crap shoot.

The code was glitchy, buggy and had more holes in it than a rusty window screen. You needn't be a master hacker to fuck with the whole of B's, just know the right tricks. There were the latch posts, posts that the forum owner couldn't delete. All that could be done was to wipe that post and every other post below it off the board. And remember, you couldn't restore old posts.

Above-the-subject-line posts are self-explanatory. What isn't evident is that an entirely new, hidden thread could be attached to those posts. You could pass on sooper-dooper, eyes-only secrets, flame the board owner or pat yourself on the back for knowing how to do the above-the-subject-line posts when the hacks didn't.

By knowing the right URLs, You could read the Trolls logs. They were there, in the open, and available to anyone who knew where to look. You need never wonder what anyone's IP was, if interested, take a peek at the logs. Passwords, they were in the logs too, but I never looked at them (heh-heh-heh).

I recall when osp, spew and needledick were feuding with a guy who called himself Beerman. The ugly trio, by using a little trick of changing some info on their own login page, were able to get into Beerman's forum and fuck with his board a few times. I believe a coder dude ( whom I shall not name) told them how to do it. Turb, nee: Turbulence, had another handle, 'Oscar' and he had set up a forum with that name. The ugly trio fucked with that one a time or two but backed off because Turb was generally well liked and a nice guy.

Then there was the time MS was on the Trolls board raising holy hell because someone had hacked his password. 914 told MS he was full of shit and that someone must have guessed the password because it was a word in common usage and very short to boot. I don't have any inside information on that one, but I certainly have a pretty good idea of how it may have happened.
