Marvellous Mauzi Lead the Way to Victory

Mauzi played the game of his career when he blasted in four goals against the hapless CSA FC at PKNS Kelana Jaya today. Mahzan, Kadir, Ismail and Capt Meor contributed a goal each, while CSA FC got three consolation goals when the game had already won by MAS Veterans early in the second half. The unavailability of top scorer - Chong, did not deter MAS Veterans from playing a well-fluid attacking game in a match where the oldest player on the pitch was a 61-year old CSA FC midfielder. Capt Nik would have had envy him, if he was around today.

The ball was kept at CSA FC's half for most of the match, and the strikers were presented with the opportunities to practice their shooting skills. Kadir even had the chance to test his brand new pair of Adidas Copa Mundial (rivalled only by Jamross' metallic maroon Puma), although he managed to put his name on the scoresheet by blatantly rammed the ball home from 1 yard out. Ismail could have scored a hattrick if not for his numerous miskicked in front of the goalmouth, while Capt Meor's sheer determination was rewarded with his first goal of the season. But the day was certainly belongs to Mauzi, and he could even score more goals if not for his generosity for the other strikers when he was very likely to score.

After the match, Rosli Jaafar reminded the players to keep the current form, as to prepare for the upcoming Bangkok 7 Tournament. "With our current performance, I am very optimisitic that our team can go far in the tournament and I will arrange more games in the coming weeks. All players must continue to have this winning mentality and I hope all of you can give the same committment in our next Kuching Grand Slam Tour. I know Kuching can offer different kind of lifestyle, but I believe you guys are prepared for the challenges", he said.
