Screaming Allowed

Ramblin Rose

Jim and Blair were both a little anxious about going into the bullpen the following morning.  All of their friends had said it was all right for them to be together but both men were worried.  What if word got around and someone started treating them like shit.  Ellison, stop worrying until you have something to worry about.

When they got there, everyone was friendly. No one acted differently.  Maybe things would be all right.

Jim sat down at his desk and started looking over the files of the cases they needed to work on today. He was reading when he heard Brown say, “So do you think that Jim's the top or the bottom?”

Rafe answered, “I don’t know.  I’ve known a couple of gay guys and they change off now and then.  So Jim might allow Blair to drive.”

Jim turned red at the thought of everyone discussing his sex life.  He didn’t discuss theirs.  He sure as hell should get the same treatment in return. In fact, Jim found himself very disappointed in his friends. Jim had no idea that Rafe, Brown, Joel, Conner and Simon were doing it on purpose.

Conner walked up to Blair and said, “So how was he, Sandy?  Does he get less grouchy when he’s in the sack?”  Conner started laughing and Blair said, “You’re trying to get him to listen, aren’t you.  You’re teasing him.  Knock it off, Conner.”

“Well, at least tell me if he made you scream when he topped.” Conner said, laughing her ass off as she walked off.

Blair headed over to his desk and saw the look on Jim’s face and knew they were in trouble.  “Jim, they’re teasing.  They’re all teasing you.  They’ll never let us live this down.  Fuck…”

“Tell me about it.” Jim said, irritated at everyone at this moment.

“Jim, let's go out on a case and try to get back to business as usual.” Blair said, grabbing his jacket and walking towards the elevator.

They went out on a case that was supposed to be an easy question and answer case but ended up in a shoot out.  When it was done Jim was covered in someone else’s blood.  God, he hated when he had blood on him.  Blair said, “Jim, we’ll get you to the station so you can take a shower and change your clothes.  I know how that blood must be killing your senses.”

“Thanks, Chief.”  Jim let Blair drive them back to the station.  As soon as they parked Jim was out and starting for the locker rooms.  “I’ll be up to do the paperwork in a few minutes. “

“Don’t worry, Jim.  I’ll get the work started and you can finish it.” Blair answered.

As Blair walked into the bullpen, he said, “Could I have everyone’s attention, please?”

Everyone gathered around him and said, “What’s up, Sandburg?”

“Jim had a tough call just now.  It was rough.  Jim had to shoot a suspect that hadn’t even been a suspect up until then.  Anyhow, he’s tired, he’s down, and I really don't want you to tease him.  Wait until tomorrow.”

“Okay, Hairboy.” Henry said, clapping Blair on the back as he went by.

Now while this had been going on, Rafe wasn’t there.  He was downstairs in the locker room when Jim came through. He didn’t say anything as Jim stripped out of his bloody clothing but once Jim was in the shower he said, “Hey, Ellison, could I ask you some questions?”

“Give me a fucking break, Rafe.  I’m trying to shower here.” Jim growled.

“Hey, I figured this might be the perfect time to ask a few things that I wondered about with you being naked and all.” Rafe said.

“What do you want to know, Rafe?  You want to know if I liked it.  Yes, I did.  Do you want to know if I’m bottom or top?  Well, we switch.  Do you want to know how much I hate all of you right now?” Jim said, not so much in anger as hurt.

“Actually, Jim, I was going to ask how you got all of that blood on you when the suspect was only winged. Then I was going to ask you what you wanted me to do with your bloody clothes. But, hey, if you feel like talking about sex with Blair to me, more power to you.” Rafe said, beaming.

Jim started hitting his head on the tile wall... repeatedly.  Jesus, Ellison, you are way out of your league here.  They’re never going to let it rest.

“Sorry, Rafe.  I didn’t mean to be so grouchy.  I know you’re all dying to tease us and it was beginning to bug us both.” Jim said calmly.

Jim went back to his shower as Rafe left the locker room.  Jim was so confused.   Rafe actually sounded sincere but could he honestly believe him?  They were all such joker’s it was hard to take them seriously at any time.

Rafe came upstairs and Blair called him over.  “Hey, Rafe, I just told everyone that Jim had a tough day and I think it would be good not to tease him for a day or two.  Can I count on you?”

“Sure, Sandburg, especially since Jim just told me everything and anything I needed to know a moment ago.” Rafe said, laughing all the way to his desk.

“Fuck…” Blair said as he made his way down to the locker room.  He was wondering if something happened to his best friend when he came walking out of the room.  “Hey, Chief.  I’m done.  I was on my way back upstairs to help with those reports.”

“Jim, what did you tell Rafe while he was down here?” Blair asked, trying to stay calm.

“Why?”

“Because he’s upstairs now telling everyone what you said, I’m sure.” Blair said.

“Fuck…”

“That’s what I said just a few minutes ago.  My exact same word.” Blair said, looking over at his lover. “So what did you tell him?”

“I told him I loved us making love.  I told him we switched top or bottom and then I mentioned something about how much I hated all of them right now.”

“Cool.  Because I was thinking maybe we need to mention hating them a little more.” Blair said, walking beside Jim going up the stairs to the bullpen.

When they walked in Joel walked up to them and started singing a song, loudly.  Jim finally heard the lyrics and realized what Joel was doing.  “Callin Out My Name.” Joel sang to the laughter of everyone in the bullpen.

“Don’t any of you have any work to do?” Jim grumbled as he sat down at his desk.  He began typing at his computer trying to keep his mind off everything but work.

“Just Call My Name,” Conner sang out across the room.  Jim lowered his head to his desk and started hitting it repeatedly.  “Knock it off, Jim.” Blair said, stopping him from hitting it again.

“Sandburg, I’m going to go and talk to Simon about this.  This is sexual harassment.”

“So who’s stopping you?” Blair asked.

“Shit, they’ll laugh even harder, won’t they?” Jim asked Blair.

“Yup.  If I were you I’d just try to forget the whole thing.  Actually, I think they’re just jealous.  Maybe we should do a survey about how many times people do it in one night.  Do they call out their lover's name while in the act?  That type of thing.”

“Sounds good to me, Chief.  Start typing.  Then we’ll have a contest to see who answers the questions best.” Jim said, smiling. “Shit, Chief.  They’ll just lie.  What in the hell was I thinking?”

“I know one way we could shut them up.” Blair said, smiling.

“What and how?” Jim asked, with an evil look on his face.

“Every time they start singing or talking about our sex life we’ll act like we have to go in the restroom for sex. They’ll die thinking that’s what’s going on.”

“You’re on, Chief.” Jim said, smiling and anxious for someone to say or do something now.

Simon walked over to Jim’s desk and asked, “Jim, do you know who sings that song called Call My Name?” Simon was keeping a straight face and Jim stood up and said, “Excuse me.  Chief, can I see you in the restroom, please?”

Everyone watched the two men walk in there.  Simon said, “No way.  They would never do it in the station restroom, right?”

Suddenly, they heard a loud, “Chief” called out and they all stood there with their mouths hanging open.

Everyone burnt rubber getting back to their desks and appearing busy when Jim and Blair came out of the restroom.  Jim sat down at his desk like he was sore and made Blair smile.

Blair’s phone rang and he answered, “Sandburg.”

Rafe said, “Chief…Chief…Chief…” sounding out of breath.

Blair slammed the phone down and grabbed Jim and they headed to the restroom and shut the door.  Before long, everyone heard Blair scream out “Jim.”

They came walking out of the restroom with big smiles on their faces.  Everyone had their face in paperwork when they looked over at the rest of the gang.

Simon came to the door and said, “Ellison, could I see you a moment?”

“Jim, you know that we’re all just teasing you, right?”

“Yes, sir, I know that.  It drives me over the edge just thinking about it.  I wouldn’t have to go running off if everyone would just drop it.”

“Jim, I know you’re not doing anything in the restroom.  I know you well enough to know that you wouldn’t chance having anyone walk in on you and Blair.”

“Then why are you asking me about it?” Jim said defiantly.

“Because I want you to knock it off.  In return, I’ll be sure that no one else brings this up around here again.”

“Fine, sir.  If you can shut them up, I’ll work with you on this.” Jim said, walking out of Simon’s office.

Simon walked out of his office and said, “This is a police department, ladies and gentlemen.  I would like you to act accordingly.  Please don’t mention the other night when Jim was screaming out Chief so loud the neighbor thought Jim was being killed. We’re not going to bring that up ever again.  Also, don’t bring up the screams of Jim being said, repeatedly so that the neighbor then thought Jim was killing someone else. Is this clear?”

Jim had his head lying on the top of his desk and said, “Chief, just kill me now, please?”

Rafe said, “I never heard a thing.”

Brown said, “Mum’s the word. They didn’t say mum anytime, did they?” He asked, looking around quickly.

Now Blair had his head lying on the desk.

Conner said, “No mum was ever mentioned.  Can you imagine that?”

Joel said, “I doubt that Blair would bring up his Mum, Conner.”

Simon said, “Okay, you two.  Things are back to normal.  Now get to work everyone.” Simon walked back into his office and slammed the door.

Jim looked over at Blair and said, “I’m going to make them all die a nice slow death.”

This made Blair smile and he asked, “Can I watch?”

“You betcha.” Jim said, smiling finally.  Blair had a way of bringing him out of any kind of bad mood.

It was almost time to go home.  Jim had never found himself happier.  It had been a long fucking day.  He’d embarrassed himself about four too many times.  He couldn’t wait to feel Blair beneath him.  Oh yeah, that would make all things better.  He needed to fuck his partner.

Jim’s phone rang and he picked it up, he answered, “Ellison,” and the tape recording started of last nights call from his neighbor.  Jim slammed the phone down, looked around to see who it was.  He didn’t see Joel or Simon, so it had to be one of them. Jim stormed off to the restroom without saying a word to Blair.

Blair walked into the restroom about five minutes later and said, “Hey, Jim, you all right?”

“No, I’m not all right.  What's wrong with these people?  Don’t they have anything better to do?” Jim asked, actually expecting an answer.

“Jim, listen for someone to come this way and then follow my lead.”

“Someone's coming.  It’s Rafe and Brown.  They’re discussing how they know we’re not doing anything.  They’re coming to laugh in our faces.” Jim said.

Blair pushed Jim into a stall and shut the door and locked it.  Then Blair proceeded to pull Jim’s jeans down and he stood on the toilet, so all they would see would be Jim’s feet.

Brown and Rafe walked in and saw no Jim and Blair.  Rafe finally said, “Ellison, you in here?”

“Yeah, I’m busy.  Can’t a guy go to the bathroom alone anymore?” Jim called back.

“Where’s Hairboy?” Brown asked, almost laughing.

“I don’t know, I haven’t seen him.” Jim said trying to hold the laughter in.  Jim could hear them bending over to look to see how many pairs of shoes were showing.  Rafe got up and said, “Shit.”

“Well, we’ll see you later then.” Brown said as they walked out of the room. Jim listened and he said, “They’re telling on us.  I don’t fucking believe it.  Now Simon and Joel are coming in here.”

Blair said, “This is too funny, Jim.”

“Yeah, but you’re not the one with your pants down.  Then Blair moved and let Jim sit on the toilet as he straddled his hips.  “This might not be a good idea, Chief.” Jim said seriously.

“Think of Simon or Joel and that ought to do it for you, tough guy.” Blair said, laughing softly.

Joel and Simon walked in to the restroom and Simon said, “Hey, Jim, are you in here?”

“What's going on?  I came in to take care of business and everyone seems to be having roll call with my name at the top of the list.” Jim said, sarcastically.

“Jim, have you seen Sandburg?” Joel asked.

“No, Joel, sure haven’t.  Now do you mind if I have some privacy for my business?” Jim grumbled.

Jim heard them both lean over to look and see who’s shoes were there, and sure enough they only saw Jim’s.  Simon walked into the next stall and Jim said, “Simon, what in the fuck are you doing?”

“Taking care of some business, too.  Jim, this is a public restroom.”

Jim didn’t say or do anything.  He and Blair were both trying to think of something when Jim looked up and saw Simon smiling at them from over the top of the stall.  “Having fun, you two?”

“Simon, give it a rest.  Just go out there and say you don’t know where Sandburg is.  Then I’ll come walking out and he’ll come out later on.”

“Why should I do that for you, Ellison?” Simon asked, chuckling.

“If you do, you’ll have a nice Lasagna dinner once a week for a month.” Jim bribed.

“You’re on.” Simon said, walking out of the restroom.  Everyone came up and said, “So where's Sandburg?”

“Hell if I know.  I didn’t see him anywhere.  I think it's just Ellison in there.  Conner, I think you need to get those eyes checked.” Simon said, trying his best not to laugh aloud.

Jim came walking out of the restroom and said, “What’s going on?  Something up or going down?”

Everyone started coughing and trying not to laugh.  “What?  What did I miss, Simon?”

“Nothing, Ellison, go home.” Simon said.

“Anyone seen my partner?” Jim called over his shoulder as he headed for the stairs and the coughing started again.

A few minutes after Jim walked into the stairwell he could be found sitting on the stairs waiting for Blair. In the meantime, everyone was saying, well where the hell did Sandburg go anyhow.  The door to the restroom opened up and Blair came walking out and everyone’s mouth dropped open.  He looked at them all and said, “Something up?  What did I miss? Anyone seen Jim?”

“He went down the stairs.  He’s looking for you.” Brown said, trying to act casually.

“Night, everyone.  See you in the morning.” Blair said and walked into the stairwell.

He sat on the stairs with Jim and waited while Jim was listening to all of the bullpen telling Simon that it was awful that Jim and Blair were doing that kind of stuff while at the station.  Jim was telling Blair as he heard things.  Finally, Jim said, “Okay, time to quietly get in there and see what happens.

Conner said, “I can’t believe that he’d do that at the station.  That would be using Sandy.  I just can’t see Jim doing that.  He loves that man.”

“Conner, stop talking about love and shit.  Maybe it’s just a sex thing. Ever think of that?” Rafe asked.

No one was aware of Jim and Blair standing in the doorway yet.

“Never a sex thing with Jim.  He’s too serious.  He loves the kid.” Joel said. “You think that Blair's serious about Jim?”

“I think so, Joel.” Conner answered.

“Well, gentlemen and lady, I think it’s none of our business.  So I say we just get out of here.  Tomorrow's another day.” Simon said.

“I’m not teasing Jim tomorrow.  I don’t want to goof up their chances.” Brown said with his head hanging down.

“So, all of you agree that it would be a good idea to let this whole thing drop?” Simon asked.

“Yes, sir.” Conner said.

“Agreed.” Brown chimed in.

“But of course I agree.” Rafe said.

“I would never want to hurt either of them, Simon.” Joel said.  Then all four of them turned around and there stood Jim and Blair with big smiles on their face.

“Thanks for the warm feelings, guys and Conner.” Jim said, laughing.

“I knew they were having one over on us.” Conner snapped but had a smile on her face.  She was actually very glad that they hadn’t made a problem with the two men.  “Night, everyone,” she called out.

“You guys are going to get it when you least expect it.” Brown said.

Simon cleared his throat and said, “Not unless you want to get written up.  This was uncalled for today.  We need to have more respect for a person’s privacy.  So, as of now, this is done.”

“Fine, sir.” Rafe said as he walked into the elevator.

Jim and Blair both turned to Simon to thank him and Simon said, “Tomorrow night for Lasagna. See you both in the morning.”

They were standing there all alone by this time and Jim pulled Blair into his arms and kissed him.  “I love you.”  They walked down the stairs together.

Blair was thinking to himself, with any luck, Jim’s going to let me do some screaming tonight.  I think that all screaming should be allowed.  Oh yeah.

End Screaming Allowed.
