Jim drove over to the restaurant and was surprised to find that he was not the first one there. Naomi was already sitting in the booth.  She stood up when she saw Jim walk up and smiled and kissed him on the lips.  “Good evening, Jim.”

“Naomi, don’t kiss me.  It’s not what I want.  Don’t do it again.” Jim said angrily.

“I’m sorry.  You just looked so good I couldn’t resist.”

“Well, start resisting as of now.  I don’t want you to touch me again.” Jim said coldly.

“What looks good on the menu, Jim?  I took the liberty of ordering a good wine.  I hope you don’t mind.” Naomi said sweetly.

“That’s fine.  I’m going to have something light and small.  I’m not really hungry.” Jim said, scanning the menu.

When the waiter came, they ordered and Naomi handed Jim his wine and they both took small drinks.  “Jim, I think we can talk like two adults, don’t you?”

“Yes, as long as you don’t touch me.  I don’t want that, Naomi.”

“I understand, Jim.  We’ll have a nice dinner then we can go to my place and talk.”

“No, we’ll talk here, if it’s all the same to you.” Jim said quietly.

“Jim, you can’t expect me to discuss things like this in a public place.  Would you want everyone to know what was going on?” Naomi asked.

When their food came Jim had more wine but Naomi was only drinking water.  Jim didn’t even notice.  He was on his third glass of wine when he started feeling funny.  Fuck… I’m fucked…

Naomi watched Jim and saw he was getting that glassy eyed look to him and said, “Jim, I’ll be right back.  I need to freshen up and then we’ll go.  Okay?”

“Yeah, I guess.” Jim said, trying to get control but not having very good luck with it.

Jim picked his phone up and called the loft.  Blair answered, “Sandburg.”

“Chief, something's wrong.”

“Jim, what’s wrong? Why do you sound drunk?” Blair asked.

“I don’t know.  I only had two glasses of wine.  Something’s wrong.  Come and take me home, please?” Jim begged.

Blair’s heart broke because he could hear the fear in his voice.  “I’ll be right there, Jim.  Could you keep her there for about 20 minutes?”

“I’ll try, Chief.  Hurry.  I’m losing it big time.” Jim said and hung up.

He was starting to lose more control when he heard a voice he knew.  “Jimmy?  What are you doing here?” William Ellison asked.

“Dad?  Dad?  Is that you?” Jim asked pitifully.

“Of course it’s me, Jimmy, who did you think it was?”

“Dad will you take me home please?  I want to go home.  Please?” Jim asked and the next thing William knew his son was in his arms saying repeatedly, “I need to go home.”

“Okay, Jimmy, I’ll get you home, okay?” William asked.

“Thank you, Dad. Blair will be so happy that you saved me.” Jim said and William looked at him like he was totally lost.

Naomi came walking out of the restroom and said, “Who are you and what are you doing with my date?”

“I’m William Ellison and this is my son.  I’m taking him home.” William said angrily.  He didn’t like this woman for some reason.

“Dad, please don’t let her have me.” Jim whispered.

“Jimmy, I’ll take good care of you, don’t worry.” William said as he led his son out of the restaurant, forgetting all about his date and dinner guests.  He left the place with his arm around Jim firmly holding him up.

“I’ll take it from here, sir.  He’s my date; he just had too much to drink.  That’s all.” Naomi said.

Jim held tighter to his dad and William said, “No, I don’t think so.  I’ll take him home. Goodnight.”

Once he got Jimmy in the front seat, buckled in and the door shut he went around to the other side.  He looked at the pretty woman that Jimmy had been with.  She didn’t seem Jimmy’s type at all.  But what did William know?  He started the car and drove off, leaving a very pissed off Naomi.

Jim lay against the window and started crying.  William said, “Jimmy, what’s wrong?”

“Blair’s going to leave me if he finds out I slept with her.  Did I sleep with her?” Jim asked so sadly that William pulled over and took him in his arms.

“Jimmy, settle down.  You didn’t sleep with anyone. What has this to do with your roommate?”

“God, now you’re going to be mad.” Jim said pitifully again.

He sounded like a small child.  “Jimmy, I’m not going to be mad.  What happened, Son?”

“I’m in love with Blair.  That was his Mom.  I didn’t know and for some reason I was drawn to her.  I slept with her wanting Blair.  Now she wants me.  She’s mad at Blair for taking me away from her. He’ll leave me.” Jim said and wailed out “Chief.”

William pulled out Jim’s cell phone and called Blair’s number that was in the automatic dial system.  Blair answered, “Sandburg.”

“Blair, this is William Ellison.  I have Jimmy with me.  Something's wrong.  He’s acting like he’s been drugged.”

“Thank God.  I was about out of my mind when I got here and he was gone.  I’ll get the glass from the booth. Could you take him to the ER?  We need to have a doctor look at him right away.” Blair said.

“I’ll meet you there but could he please talk to you?  He’s upset.” William asked.

“Yeah, put him on.  I can tell by your voice that he said something.  I’m sorry it had to be this way.  We planned to tell you.”

“Blair, don’t worry about that now.  Here's Jimmy.” William handed the phone to Jim saying, “Here you go, Jimmy.  It’s Blair.  He wants to talk to you.”

“Blair?  Baby, are you there?” Jim begged.

“Yes, Jim, I’m here.  Don’t worry, baby.  I’ll see you in a few minutes.  Don’t worry about anything.”

“I love you, baby.” Jim said and dropped the phone as he passed out.  William sped the rest of the way to the hospital.  When he drove up, he had the orderlies come out and get him and they took him back right away.

Blair called Simon.  Simon answered, “This had better be earth shattering, Sandburg.”

“Sir, I need you to meet us at the hospital.  I think Jim was drugged.” I have the glass from the restaurant and the wine bottle.  Jim’s in the ER right now with his dad.  I want you to get a warrant for my mother’s arrest.”

“Slow down, Sandburg.  I’ll talk to you when I get to the hospital.  Calm down.  Don’t drive crazy.”

“I’ll see you there, sir.” Blair said before hanging up.  He was so fucking pissed off he couldn’t even think straight.  When he pulled up to the ER, he saw William standing outside waiting for him.  Man, this could get really ugly.

Blair walked up expecting anything from Mr. Ellison but his hugging him was not one of the things he had in mind.  That’s what William Ellison did.  He hugged Blair to his chest and said, “The doctor's said he was overdosed with a drug, a date rape drug.  Do you know what that is?”

“Yes, I know what it is.  Is he all right, William?” Blair asked, trying to be calm.

“His heart has stopped twice so far.  They can’t keep him stable.  I know you can do it, Blair.  You do things with Jimmy that no one else can.  Please help him.” William begged.

“Sir, you don’t have to ask me.  I'll do it without anyone asking.  I’m in love with that man.” Blair said as he walked into the ER.

The doctor’s grabbed Blair and William as soon as they came through the doors.  “Sir, is this the man you say can help us with Detective Ellison?”

“Yes, this is Blair Sandburg.” William said. “This is Doctor Madison.”

“Doctor Madison, I need to see Jim right now.” Blair ordered and for some reason the doctor knew not to argue.  He was losing the patient and needed all of the help he could get.

Blair got next to Jim, touched his face, and said, “Jim, can you hear me?  Can you feel my hand on your face, Jim?”

“Chief.” Jim whispered.

“Yes, Jim.  It’s your Chief, now I need you to try to fight this drug.  I want you to find the dials and turn them down.  I want all of them turned down to normal.  Then you’ll be able to feel me touch you easier.”

After a few minutes, the doctors and the nurses wondered what in the hell was going on, but Jim’s vitals were getting back into the normal range.  His breathing was almost normal and his heart rate had gone back to what it should be. Then Jim opened up his eyes.

“Fuck… She fucking drugged me, Chief.” Jim said sadly.

“I know Jim.  I brought everything we’ll need and Simon will have her arrested.” Blair said casually, as if he wasn’t talking about his mom.

“Chief, it’s your mom.  I’m not pressing charges.” Jim said stubbornly.

“Fine, I’ll press them then.  I’ve had it.  She can’t try to kill you and get away with it.” Blair said angrily as he paced the small room.

William stopped him and said, “Now isn’t the time to worry about that.  You’re upsetting Jimmy.  Why don’t you try and calm him instead.”

“Right.  I’m sorry, William.” Blair said as he walked over to Jim.  He leaned down and kissed Jim on his lips.  Jim said, “I love you, Blair.  I love you so much.”

“Everything will be fine, Jim.  Go to sleep and when you wake up we’ll be ready to go home.” Blair said, brushing Jim’s face with his hand and watching Jim fall asleep.  He turned to the doctor and said, “How's he doing?”

“He’s doing much better.  I’ll need to talk to you about some of this.  We need to have it in his chart. However, he’s not going to be able to go home right away.  We need to keep him on the monitor.  His heart did stop.  We have to keep a close watch on him.  When we feel he’s ready, he’ll get to go home.”

“Doctor, it’s already in his chart.  He's highly sensitive and very allergic to certain drugs.  This happens to be one of them.  I use a form of Hypnotic therapy on him. It’s about the only thing that helps him.  As you can see it works like a charm.” Blair said, hoping the doctor would buy this. “As far as him not going home, then you’re going to be the one to tell him, because he’s not going to be a happy camper.”

“Okay, I see here that you're the emergency contact.  As long as we know who to call if this ever happens again.” Doctor Madison said. “He’ll probably be able to go home in about two days or so. If he stays stable.”

“Thank you, Doctor.” Blair said, leaning against the wall trying to hold it together.

William walked over and said, “Blair, let's go and get some coffee.  We’ll talk while we drink.”

Blair felt like he was going to be stabbed or something.  He drug his feet all the way to the coffee machine.  He ‘so’ didn’t want to hear what William Ellison thought of a man sleeping with his son.  He sat down and waited for the ax to fall.

Instead, he had William sit next to him, put his arm around him, and say, “Blair, you don’t have to be strong all the time.  You can let go for a few minutes.  You can stay strong when he’s awake, but I can help.” Blair leaned into William and started to cry.

“We almost lost him, William.  If you hadn’t have been there, he’d be dead right now.  God, I can’t lose him.” Blair said softly into William’s shoulder.

“You won’t lose him, Blair.  You won’t. Now just rest for awhile.” William said, smiling down at the sleeping man on his shoulder and chest.  When had Jim fallen for this man?  Why didn’t he see it?  They’re so devoted to each other.  Anyone can see it. William would consider himself lucky to have this man in his family and would be sure and tell Jimmy that.

About two hours later, William woke up with his shoulder being shaken by the doctor. “Mr. Ellison, Jim's awake if you’d like to see him. I told him he can’t go home now and he’s upset.”

“Blair, Jimmy's awake.  Want to go and see him?” William asked as Blair shot up from his lap and ran into Jim’s room.  Both the doctor and William laughed.

As Blair entered the room, Jim was saying to the nurse, “I don’t have to stay here.  I can leave when I want to.  I don’t need your fucking permission.  I’m an adult.  I’ll go home if I want to.”

“Jim, settle down.” Blair said as he walked in and sat on the bed next to Jim. “We’ll talk about this calmly but don’t take it out on the nurse.  Now apologize to her, please?”

“I’m sorry.  I just really hate hospitals.” Jim said shamefully.

“It’s okay but two days is not going to kill you, Detective Ellison.” the nurse said.

“You might think differently by the end of the two days.” William said, laughing.  Jim glared at his father and didn’t see the humor in any of this.  In fact, it was pissing him off.

“Dad, will you talk to the doctor and ask him if I can go home now?” Jim pleaded.

“No, Jimmy.  If the doctor said two days then you’ll be staying two days.  Now settle down and relax.  Blair will be here and when he isn’t, I will be.”

“Dad, come on, you know how much I hate being here.” Jim still begged.

“It’s not going to work, Jimmy.  Now I’m going to go and get some dinner for Blair and I.  You won’t get any good stuff.  You have to eat Jell-O.” William said, laughing all the way down the hallway.

“Shit!  He thinks it’s funny.” Jim said angrily.

“Jim, did you notice that your dad doesn’t seem to mind me being with you?” Blair asked confused.

“Blair, he doesn’t know about us yet.” Jim said, looking confused.

“Jim, you kissed me in front of him.  So, yeah, he knows and you told him about us.” Blair said.

“Shit…”

“Yeah, that’s what I thought, but he’s been really nice to me, Jim.  He hasn’t tried to kill me or anything.”

“Not funny, Blair.  Now you want to fill me in on what’s going on?” Jim asked.

Simon and Conner walked into the room at that moment.  Jim said, “Simon, Conner, anything new?”

“Well, Jim, we have to have you sign this paper for us to get the warrant.  We’re going to arrest Naomi Sandburg.  No one does this to one of us and gets away with it.” Simon said.

“I’m not signing anything, Simon.” Jim said stubbornly.

“Sandburg, what the hell's he talking about?” Simon asked, looking from Jim to Blair and back.

“Don’t ask me.  I just got here, too. Jim, you have to press charges.  She almost killed you, man.”

“Chief, I’m not pressing charges against your mom.  That’s final.  If it’ll make you feel better I’ll sign a restraining order.  What do you think of that?” Jim asked.

“Well, I guess it’s going to have to do.  Shit, Jim.  This sucks.” Blair said, pacing in the room with Megan following trying to calm him down.

“Chief, don’t be mad at me, okay?”

“Jim, how can I not be mad?  You’re being stupid.  She’s going to think you have a thing for her now.  She’s such a fucking bitch.” Blair said angrily.

“Blair, I think you should talk to her.  See if you can’t discuss some of these things and maybe work something out while I’m here.” Jim said.

“Fuck you.” Blair said and stormed out of the room.  Jim was getting upset as he listened to his lover’s heart rate.  “Simon, would you please bring him back here.  I’ll do whatever he wants me to.”

“I’ll be right back, Jim.” Simon said as he walked out of the room to find the wandering Sandburg.

William walked up to Blair and said, “What’s wrong?  Is Jimmy all right?”

“Yes, Jim's fine.  He won’t press charges because it’s my mom.  Do you believe it?  She almost killed him, William.  She shouldn’t be allowed to get away with that, do you think?” Blair asked.

“No, I agree with you but getting mad at Jimmy isn’t going to help things right now.  You can discuss this later on.  Give him a few days.  He’s only trying to save your family.” William said as he pushed Blair back in the direction of Jim’s room.  Coming down the hall was Simon looking for Blair and smiling when he saw William calming Sandburg down.  Good, I don’t have to do it.  Maybe William will talk some sense into them.

“It’s good to see you again, William.  Too bad it isn’t under better circumstances.” Simon said, holding his hand out ready for the handshake.

“Nice to see you, too, Captain Banks.” William answered.

“Simon, please.”

“Okay, Simon.  How's my son doing now?” William asked.

“Well, sir, he’s upset about Blair being mad at him but other than that, he’s doing well.”

“Guys, I’m still here.  Don’t talk about me like I’m not here.” Blair said as he stormed into the room.

Jim looked at him with pain and sadness in his eyes and Blair was lost.  He walked over to the bed, sat down, kissed Jim and then hugged him and told him he loved him.

“Chief, I’m sorry.  I’ll do whatever you want me to do.” Jim said, sounding like a man that had no will left.  Blair wasn’t sure he liked that sound at all.

William sat down in a chair and said, “Could I make a suggestion?”

“Sure, Dad.  I could use some suggestions.” Jim said, smiling at his dad.

“I think you should get a restraining order out on Naomi Sandburg but forget about the attempted murder charge.  It would only embarrass, Jim.  Am I right, Jim?”

“Yeah, Dad, you’re right.  I’ll do the restraining order. What do you think of that Blair?” Jim asked, hoping that would be enough to keep his love happy for now.

“It’s okay.  That sounds fair.  As long as we make sure that she isn’t going to do anything to you again.” Blair said.

“Well, I’m going to hire someone to follow her for a few days and I’ll keep you posted, Blair. Don’t you worry.” William said.

They all sat and talked about the case and what was going to come up with it.  Simon called and had someone bring the paperwork up for Jim to sign so they could put it out on Naomi right away.

“Simon, why was she using a fake name?” William asked.  “Conner just told me that's why Blair didn’t know about her, at first, because she used a different name.”

“She was dating a drug runner at one time and she was afraid he gave her name up to the cops or to friends of his.  After all, she did help spend his money.  But he never gave her name up.  I checked.” Simon said.

“I might do some checking on that.  I better be going for tonight.  Jimmy, I’ll be here in the morning.  Sleep well.” William said as he leaned over the bed and kissed Jim on his temple.

“Night, Dad.  See you tomorrow.  Thanks for everything.” Jim said, feeling like he’d maybe had a breakthrough with his dad and didn’t even know why or when.

They all continued to talk until visiting hours were over and then everyone went home except for Blair.  He slept in the chair next to Jim’s bed.  Jim tried to talk him into sleeping with him but Blair didn’t trust himself.  Jim laughed and started going to sleep.  Blair kissed Jim softly and said, “I love you, baby.”

“Love you too, Blair.” Jim said as he drifted off.

William dialed a number on his cell phone and waited for the person to answer.

<Bushing>

“Bushing, this is William Ellison.  I have a job for you.  I want someone watched, checked out and kept away from someone.”

<When do you want to meet, sir? >

“My office, first thing in the morning.  I’ll see you then.  Thank you for taking it on.”

<Always, sir. See you in the morning. >

William closed his phone and felt instantly better about the whole situation.  He knew that Bushing would do a good job.  He’d find all the dirty stuff they would need on Naomi Sandburg.  He also knew that the man would do anything he asked of him.  At 6’6” tall, he was a very intimidating person.  William figured that he might have a run for his money with Naomi, though.

William’s phone rang and he answered, “William Ellison.”

<Dad, I just got into town and heard that something happened to Jimmy.  Is he all right?  Sally was telling me you’re at the hospital. >

“Steven, don’t go there.  He’s sleeping.  Let’s let him rest.  I’m on my way home and I’ll fill you in on everything. There's a lot I have to tell you.” William said with a huge smile on his face.  That's an understatement.

<Okay, Dad.  I’ll see you in a few minutes then. Drive carefully. >

William smiled thinking about both of his sons.  A year ago, they weren’t even talking and now, they were even worried about him.  He had Blair to thank for most of this.  He’d have to remember to do that.

The night was quiet at the hospital.  Jim slept all night long not aware that Naomi was planning to get him alone somehow. She’d talk some sense into him.  How could her own son do this to his mother?

When William got to his home, Steven was waiting and he filled both Sally and Steven in on what was going on.  Including the fact that Jim and Blair were a couple.

“You’ve got to be kidding.  That's just past weird, Dad.  Jim's like the straightest person anyone could meet.  What do you think caused that?” Steven asked.

“I would have to say love caused it.” William said, smiling.

“I can’t believe you’re taking it so calmly, Dad.” Steven said, still in a state of shock.  “Sally, did you know this?”

“No, I didn’t know about them but Jimmy has always been a really loving person.  I don’t think it would matter to him what sex a person is. As long as he’s happy, I’m happy for them.” Sally stated.

“Well, I want to get to bed so I can get up to the hospital and see Jim tomorrow.  I can’t let the teasing go by.” Steven said, laughing as he walked to the front door.

“Steven, please wait till he’s home before you torment him, okay?” William asked.

“Yeah, okay.  You're just no fun, Dad.” Steven said, walking out the door with a huge smile on his face.

As soon as William locked up the house, he turned to Sally and said, “What do you say we tell Stevie and Jimmy tomorrow about us?”

“If you want to, Will, that would be good.  I hate sneaking around.” Sally said, kissing him as they walked up the stairs to go to bed.

“Yeah, it’s time they know about us.  I love you, Sal.” William said, kissing her back.

Both of them knew that the boys would accept it and probably even be happy.  It was time.  They’d been together for years but Sally always felt she wasn’t good enough for Will.  Maybe now things would work out for everyone.  William liked this idea a lot. Silently, they stripped and got ready for bed.

William turned to Sally and said, “I have an appointment tomorrow morning.  Could you see Jimmy first.  Then we’ll go tomorrow night and see them together.  Or you could wait until my meeting's over.” Will said, getting into bed.

“I’ll wait for you in Jimmy’s room.  I wanted to spend some time with him anyhow.  This should work out well.” Sally said, sliding into bed and into his arms.

They began kissing and it led to a slow, wonderful night of lovemaking.  Sally loved when Will was romantic.  He was very romantic tonight.  She hoped that things stayed this nice. They fell asleep in each other’s arms and across town; Blair was sleeping with his head on Jim’s bed and Jim slept soundly knowing Blair was close by.

When William woke up, he had to hurry and get ready for his appointment.  Sally turned over and said, “Do you have to leave so soon?”

“It’s an important meeting.  I’ll meet you at the hospital in about three hours. I love you, Sal.”

“Be careful and I’ll see you soon.” Sally said, kissing him goodbye.

The drive to his office was uneventful.  When he walked in, the man he was waiting for was already there.

“I hate it when you break in, Bushing.  Why do you do that?” William asked, laughing.

“To show you how poor your security system is.  You keep making it better and I still get in. Better put me in charge.” Bushing said.

“Come on in and sit down.” Will said.

Taking out a thick notebook and a pen, Bushing sat down to write. “So, tell me what this is all about.”

William filled him in on everything that had happened.  Once he was done, Bushing said, “I need her full name and do you suppose that Captain Banks would give me any information on her?”

“I don’t see why not. He doesn’t want anything to happen to Jimmy, either.”

“Good, because we’re going to make this woman suffer, sir.  She can’t try to kill Jimmy and get away with it.”

“No, I don’t want her hurt.  I just want to be sure she stays away from Jimmy.”

“I’ll see to it, William, don’t you worry.  You know Jimmy's like one of my own sons.”

“You would have had him when you were like 2 years old.” William said, laughing.

“Doesn’t matter about age.  I like Jimmy a lot.”

“Thank you, Bushing.  I’m glad I’ve got you on my team.  Now what do you want to do?”

“Well, first, we need to find out the name of the drug dealer in case she starts giving us problems.  If she does, then we’ll tell her he sent us to collect money that she spent that belongs to us.  She won’t know.  Then I’ll start following her knowing that she can’t go to the police because she thinks she's a wanted woman.”

“Sounds good so far.  Just be sure that she isn’t hurt.  She is Blair’s mother. Before you ask, Blair's Jimmy’s lover. Jimmy wouldn’t be able to live with himself if he thought something happened to her because of him.”

“Got it, Will.  I’ll fill you in a few days unless I have something sooner.  I’m going to start watching her soon.”

Standing up, William stuck his hand out to shake hands and Bushing said, “Tell Jimmy I send my best and give him this from me.” He then hugged William and walked out of the office.

William knew that things might work out all right with Bushing on the job.  They all used to call him Bush, but he stopped that when the jerk in office ran for president.  Bushing didn’t want anything to remind him of that nitwit.  William started laughing just thinking about the day that G. W.  Bush said he was running for office.  Bushing had told everyone, “Not one person ever calls me Bush again. I didn’t mind being called something that had to do with a woman’s body part but I won’t be associated with that dick.”

William left his office after locking it up, wondering why he did so because Bushing would just get back in if he wanted to.  Smiling again, he headed over to the hospital to tell Blair that he’d taken care of things so he didn’t have to worry.

Jim woke up and pulled Blair onto the bed with him.  It was still early.  No one was around; he could maybe talk Blair into some sex before the doctor came in.  Blair didn’t even fight being pulled up onto the bed.  He snuggled with Jim and Jim started kissing him soundly.

Blair woke with a start and said, “Jim, whatcha doing, man?”

“I must not be doing it right if you’re asking.” Jim said, laughing.

Blair got out of the bed and Jim said, “Blair, come on back to bed.  I just want to cuddle.

“No, I know you want more than that and your dad's coming up this morning. I think we shouldn’t push things.” Blair said, trying to tell his cock to calm down.

Jim watched as Blair talked to his cock.  “You have no right doing that here.  Down.”

Jim started laughing and said, “Blair, please tell me you don’t always talk to your cock.”

“No, just when it doesn’t pay attention to what my brain's saying.” Blair said, blushing.

There was a knock at the door.  Blair said, “See?” and in walked Sally.

“Hi, Blair.  Hi, Jimmy.  How're you both doing this morning?” she asked.

“Hi, Sally, I’m fine.  Jim seems to be doing okay this morning, too.  A little too much energy if you ask me.” Blair said, heading to the door.

“Chief, where you going?”

“I have to get some coffee, man.  I’ll get some for you and Sally, too.  Be right back. Watch him, Sally, he’s a sly one.” Blair said, smiling as he walked down the hall.

“He’s very cute, Jimmy, I think you chose a winner.” Sally said, leaning over and kissing Jim’s cheek.

“Dad told you already?”

“Of course he did.  Do you think he's ashamed or something?” Sally asked.

“No, just surprised that he told you, that's all.”

“So have you seen the doctor this morning?”

“Not yet.  He’ll be in about 8:00 he said. I hope that he’ll let me go home today but you never know.”

Blair came walking into the room carrying three hot coffees.  They all began drinking the awful brew as Sally asked questions about what was happening.

William walked in and saw a wonderful sight.  Jim, Blair and Sally all sitting on Jimmy’s bed, chatting.  It warmed Will’s heart.  “Good morning, Sally, Jim and Blair.”

“You’ll notice that Sally got top billing.” Jim said, laughing.

“Hey, I’ve been putting up with him longer than you have.” Sally said.

“What are you two complaining about, at least you weren’t last.” Blair said and they all cracked up.

“What’s up, Dad?  You look like you have something on your mind.” Jim asked.

“Well, I wanted to let you know that I hired Bushing to watch Ms. Sandburg.  That way we’ll know that everyone will be safe until we figure out what she wants.”

“Who's Bushing?” Bair asked.

“He’s a friend of the family. He’s a private detective.  He’s been doing business with my dad for years. Blair, he’s a good guy.  He would never hurt her.” Jim said, seeing the alarm on Blair’s face.

“I don’t care, Jim.” Blair said, walking to the window and staring out like there was something spectacular to see.

“Of course you care, Blair.  She’s your mom.  I’d be upset if it was my dad.  We can’t help it.  No matter what, they’re our parents.” Jim said.

“Well, William, tell Bushing that I’m here to help if he needs anything answered.” Blair offered helpfully.

“I sure will, Blair.  Thank you.  He’ll need to get a hold of everyone involved anyhow.” Will said.

Sally walked over and hugged Blair and said, “Don’t worry, everything'll be all right.”

“William, you look like there's something else you wanted to talk to us about.  What is it?” Blair asked.

“Jimmy, is he always this good at figuring people out?”

“Yup, Dad, he is.  What’s up?” Jim asked.

“It’s not anything bad.  We just thought it’s time you knew about us.” William said, looking at Sally and then at Jim.

“No way.  You and Sally?” Jim said smiling. “That’s great. Sally, that’s great.”

Sally hugged Jim and whispered, “Thank you, Jimmy.  It means a lot to him to have you like me.”

“I love you, Sally, so this works out well.  This is the best news I’ve heard I’ve heard in ages.” Jim said, smiling and looking over at Blair to see what he thought.

“I agree 100%.  You two are a great couple.  You’ve been together forever.” Blair said.

“Sometimes it feels that way.” William said.

The doctor came walking in and said, “Could I please examine my patient alone.  I’ll call you all back in when I’m done with him.”

Blair, William and Sally all walked out of the room and decided to get more of that awful brew.  They walked down to the coffee machine talking about the new development.  When they finally got back to the room, the doctor came walking out and said, “I’m going to release him in about two hours.  Everything will be ready.”

“Thank you, Doctor. He’ll be glad. Do we have to follow any special instructions?” Blair asked.

Doctor Madison smiled and said, “Blair, why don’t you walk with me for a few minutes and I’ll fill you in.”

They walked down the hall, side by side, and Blair said, “Is something wrong?”

“Not at all.  I knew you wanted to know about resuming sex and I didn’t want to say anything in front of his father.  There are no restrictions.  He’ll feel it if it's too much. Just take it easy but don’t baby him.”

“Thank you, Doctor.  I’m going to go see him now.  Thanks for everything.” Blair said and turned and almost ran down the hall to Jim’s room.  As he came flying through the door, Jim was smiling and said, “I heard.”

“Hot damn.” Blair said kissing him, not caring if William was there or not.

Jim got dressed and ready for the trip home.  Blair was really excited.  William said, “Blair, why don’t you go get the loft ready.  Buy some good comfort food and we’ll bring him home with us.”

“That would be great.  Do you mind, Jim?” Blair asked, looking at Jim almost bouncing with delight.

“No, I don’t mind.  I just want to go home.  I don’t care how I get there.” Jim said, laughing.

“Okay, I’ll take off and you both take good care of my main man.” Blair said.

“Did you forget something?” Jim called after him.

Blair ran back in the room, kissed Jim and then ran back out again.

“How do you keep up with him, Jimmy?” William asked.

“Not that well, Dad, but I have a blast trying.” Jim said, smiling.

A nurse came walking in the door and said; “I need to check Mr. Ellison here. Could you wait in the waiting room and I’ll come and get you when I’m done?”

Dad, stop worrying, I’ll be fine.  Go.” Jim said, waving his hands in the air like he was swatting a fly.

William and Sally walked down to the waiting room and sat down.  They just talked about the boys and how good it would be to have them around more now.  When the nurse came out and said, “You can wait a few minutes and then go on in.  His wife's here and she wanted to see him alone first.”

“Shit.” William spat out as he rushed to Jim’s room and threw open the door.  There was Naomi walking towards, Jim.  She said, “Jim, Sweetheart, we need to get home and plan a few things.”

“Excuse me, who are you and what are you doing in my son’s room?” William asked.

The look of relief on Jim’s face was plain to see.

“It’s wonderful to meet you, Mr. Ellison.  I’ve been wanting to.  Jim said we’d meet you soon enough.  I’m his fiancé.”

“Ms. Sandburg, get out of my son’s room right now or I’ll have you physically removed.” William said.

“Fine, but you can’t keep me from what's mine.  You might think you’ve won but you haven’t.” Naomi said, walking out of the room.  Stopping in the doorway, she turned to Jim and said, “I’ll be watching for you, Jim.  You’ll never know where I am or what I’ll be planning.”

As she walked out of the room, Sally moved over and grabbed Jim and hugged him so hard that Jim could hardly breathe.  “Sally, I’m all right.  Really, I am.”

“Jimmy, I have to call Bushing and inform him of this.  She’s not stable.  Anyone can see that.”

“You both have to promise me that you won’t say a word to Blair about this.  Do you swear?”

“Jimmy, we can’t do that.  What if he asks us if we saw her?” William asked.

“Lie.” Jim said, trying to remain calm. “I’m telling you dad, he’ll freak out.  I don’t want him to worry. Please?”

“Okay, Jimmy.  We’ll do that but Bushing's going to step this up.  I won’t have her hurting you.” William said.

William called Bushing on his cell phone and filled him in on what was going on since he had talked to him that morning.  Once he was done, he then proceeded to take Jim and Sally downstairs and drive Jim to the loft.  When they drove up, Blair was outside waiting.

“Geeze, I was beginning to think you were having second thoughts.” Blair said, teasingly.

“I had to talk to a nurse about what not to do once I got home.” Jim said.

Blair put his arm around Jim and said to William and Sally, “Come on up.  I’ll whip up something good for dinner.”

“Thank you anyhow but we both have plans.  We’ll see you tomorrow, if that’s all right with you?”

“That’s great.  Thanks for bringing him home to me.” Blair said, hugging Jim again.  Jim leaned down and kissed him.  God, how he loved that man.

As soon as they drove off, William said, “Sally, I have to go to the office so I need to drop you at home.  All right?”

“That’s fine.  I'd taken a cab to the hospital because I knew that you’d give me a ride home.  I just wanted to spend some time with you.  You see to Jimmy.  Don’t worry about me, but be very careful.” Sally said.

When he pulled up in front of the house, he kissed her and said, “I’ll be home for dinner tonight.  Wait for me, okay?”

“I would wait forever for you, Will.” She said as she got out and headed into the house.

William made his way to the office where Bushing was already sitting behind his desk.  “Damn it, Bush, stop doing that.” William said.

“I’ll stop if you stop calling me Bush.” He said, laughing.

“Okay, what have you got so far?” William asked.

“I talked to Captain Banks.  He gave me the drug runner’s name and a few other things I might need to know. Now, I’ll contact her, and then start following her. She can’t go to the cops because she broke the restraining order.”

“Well, the order probably wasn’t even in use yet.  I would say she’s just a nut case. She seemed nuts.” William said.

“Those are the scariest kinds, William.  I want you to stay away from her, do you understand?  You let me take care of her, not you.” Bushing asked.

“Understood.  I have to listen to you, for Jimmy’s sake.”

“Good, nice to hear for a change. Well, I need to go and contact her.  I’ll check in with you later tonight.  You going to be here or at home?”

“Bushing, how many nights do I stay in the office anymore?” William asked, smiling.

“I’ll call you tonight.” Bushing was out of the office in a flash and William wondered if he was always that quiet when he left and entered rooms?  It was almost spooky.  He found himself feeling almost sorry for Naomi Sandburg.  No one crossed Jimmy Ellison and got away with it in Bushing’s book.  Bushing had said he owed Jimmy his life twice over and he intended on repaying that for the rest of his life. A better friend, they couldn’t find.

Jim and Blair made a nice quick dinner and made out on the sofa while watching television.  The sound wasn’t even on.  Jim was so happy to be in Blair’s arms. He wasn’t going to mention that it was a movie that he’d wanted to see.  Jim got up and grabbed Blair’s hand and pulled him up the stairs after him.

Jim undressed both of them and pushed Blair back on the bed and proceeded to suck and lick Blair until he came in record time.  “Man, that is like so unfair.  I didn’t want to come that fast.  Now what shall we do?” Blair said, laughing.

“We’ll figure out something, won’t we?” Jim said and got into the ‘69’ position and Blair hungrily took Jim’s cock into his mouth, while his own cock was starting to fill again.

Blair hadn’t been able to recover this fast, ever.  Jim did something to him that no one ever had.  Man, you are so in love, Sandburg.

As he sucked on Jim’s cock, Jim started sucking on Blair’s.  Then both men began playing with each other’s ass.  Jim could not get over what a great ass Blair had.  He loved kissing it.  He loved licking it.  He especially loved fucking it.  Oh yeah, Ellison, you’ve got it bad.

Blair got up on his hands and knees and situated himself over Jim until his cock was right where Jim wanted it.  And he took Jim’s into his mouth.  Both men were sucking long and hard.  Both putting fingers in the other’s ass, making them get closer and closer.  Soon, Jim moaned out Blair’s name around Blair’s cock in his mouth.  This drove Blair over the edge.  They rested for awhile and just held on to each other.  They weren’t really tired, but hated to get out of bed.

“So Jim, tell me about this Bushing guy.” Blair said, trying to get Jim to talk about the PI.

“Blair, don’t worry, he won’t hurt your mom.  He would never do anything like that.  He’s a great friend of the family.  I grew up with him.” Jim said.

“He seemed like he liked you more than just a friend.” Blair said, trying not to sound so jealous.

“Hey, Chief, I’ve never been with him but he did ask.  I just wasn’t at that point in my life.  He’s a really nice guy.  I helped him numerous times with cases and a few times, saved his ass.  So, he’ll always be like my big brother.”

Kissing Jim’s chest, Blair said, “And you’re sure you aren’t interested in him now?”

“Blair, get a grip.  I’m not nor will I ever be interested in him.  He’s not my type.” Jim said, smiling down at Blair.

“How do you know what your type is, Jim?  You’ve only been with me.”

“That’s just it.  You’re my type.  I love short, hairy, Jewish men that think they don’t deserve me.” Jim said, pulling Blair closer to his chest and kissing him hard.

“Very funny, big man.  Just for that, I’m not going to tongue fuck you later on tonight.” Blair said, pulling away.

“Blair, you do deserve me and I deserve you.  We are perfect for each other.” Jim said softly.

“Okay, Jim, I’ll work on the self-esteem thing.”

“Good, now how about some sleep?” Jim asked, yawning.

“Yeah, I know you old men need a lot more sleep then us younger men.” Blair said, laughing as he tried to pull away from Jim.

Jim didn’t say a word but Blair could hear a low growl coming out of his love as he pushed Blair face down on the mattress.  Putting a pillow underneath Blair to make him more comfortable, Jim proceeded to drive him wild.  He spread Blair’s legs as far as he could and then spread his cheeks apart.  He went down and started licking him, as if he was a cat.  Blair was begging already and Jim had just started.

Jim got on his knees and pulled Blair’s ass up into the air and started to tongue fuck him.  With a hand that wasn’t busy holding him up, he started stroking Blair slowly.  Jim didn’t want this to go too fast.  He wanted Blair to beg for it.

“Jim, come on, man.  Fuck me, baby.  Please?”

Jim smiled and thought, this has to be an all time record on how long it takes before he begs.  God, he loved when Blair begged.

Jim continued to fuck him with his tongue, so slowly, it was driving Blair wild.  At the same time, he continued to stroke his cock slowly, so slowly that Blair started whining.  “Jim, I need to come, come on, baby, harder.  I need it harder. Fuck me, baby.  Please?”

“Okay, when Blair started begging good Jim couldn’t help it.  He almost came without a touch to his own body. Jim pushed his tongue into Blair’s pucker, as far as he could go, humming the whole time, causing Blair to feel the vibration.  Then he started stroking Blair’s cock in time with his tongue fucking.  Jim could tell Blair was so close.  “Jim, I’m going to come, baby.  Jim… Jim… Jim…” And he came.  Jim didn’t know how to describe the feeling he got when Blair’s hole grabbed his tongue and stroked it in little spasms.  Oh god, I have to fuck him now.

Jim pulled Blair up and started pushing his cock into Blair’s hole and he was so loose that he was able to get in fairly easily.  Jim went very slowly and took his time as not to hurt his love.  Then Jim couldn’t hold back any longer, he started pounding into Blair, screaming, “Chief… Chief… Chief…” When he came a few moments later, Blair swore that he heard bells ringing somewhere.  Jesus, now you’re a drama queen, Sandburg.

Finally pulling out of Blair, Jim cleaned them both up and they went to sleep for the night.  Jim was exhausted and needed the sleep and he knew that Blair did too.

Jim looked at the clock at 2:00 a.m. and felt Blair stroking his cock and just closed his eyes and took in his scent and listened to his heartbeat. He was getting close to the edge, keeping his eyes closed.  God, he was hot. Then he felt Blair’s mouth go over his cock and he was ready to come and as he came, he screamed, “Chief.”

Suddenly, Jim heard Blair scream, "Jim, what the fuck are you doing?”

Jim looked over at his lover and realized he had been sleeping.  He looked down and saw that his cock was wet, so he hadn’t dreamed it.  Shit…

Jim sat up listening to every noise in the loft and heard the third heartbeat, similar to Blair’s.  He whispered to Blair, “Your mom's here.  She just sucked me off while I was sleeping. I thought it was you in bed with me.  I’m sorry, baby.”

Blair jumped out of their bed and stormed down the stairs and turned on the light and his mother was sitting at the kitchen table.  “What do you think you’re doing, Naomi?  Are you insane?  You don’t come into someone’s home and sexually molest them while they’re sleeping.  You’re under arrest.”

Blair put cuffs around her and said, “That’s fine, Sweetie, because everyone needs to know how easily he comes for me anyhow.  I wanted them to know.”

“Naomi, you’re a fucking bitch.  I don’t know when you went over the edge but you need to go a little further and stay gone.” Blair said as he took the cuffs off of her.  Blair noticed that Jim still was upstairs.

Blair picked up the cell phone and called Bushing.  When he answered, Blair said, “Bushing, this is Blair Sandburg.  Things are getting worse.  We need Naomi Sandburg watched closer and something done with her.  She came in and took advantage of Jim in his sleep tonight. I can’t arrest her because she’ll tell everyone what’s going on, and I won’t put him through that.  Can you help?”

“Calm down.  Take a breath.  Yeah, I can help.  Keep her there, I’ll be there in a few.” Bushing said, hanging up.

Naomi stood up and acted like she was going to leave and Blair said, “Sit your ass back down.  Someone's coming to talk to you.  You’ll sit down, shut your mouth and you’ll listen to him.”

“Don’t you talk to me like that young man.  I’ll leave if I want to.” Naomi said, trying to push past Blair.  Blair shoved her into the kitchen area and she slapped him hard.

Jim came down the stairs very quickly and said, “Don’t touch him again, Naomi.  I swear, I’ll break your fucking hand if you touch him again.”

“Fine!  I’ll sit here and wait for your little friends to come and talk to me.  Blair, you've turned into such a disappointment.  You knew how much he meant to me and you still went after him.” Naomi said angrily.

“Naomi, you're so full of shit.  Jim and I were meant to be together for a long time.  You only reminded him of me.  He could tell by your scent and your heartbeat.  They reminded him of me.  It confused him. I’ll never forgive you for this.”

“Oh, Blair honey, you’ll get over it. What would my scent and your scent have to do with anything.  Do you know how crazy it sounds to have you talk about our heartbeats?  Jim loves me; he just doesn’t want to hurt your feelings.  Ask him point blank and see what he says.” Naomi said, with a sickening smile on her face.

“Mom, I don’t have to ask him. I know.” Blair said.

“Then ask him how come he didn’t know it wasn’t you giving him that great blow job tonight. Go ahead, Sweetie, ask him.” Naomi urged.

Blair turned to Jim and said, “Were you asleep?”

Jim said, “Not all the way.  I was half-way awake.  I thought it was you.  God, Blair, I never dreamed it was her.”

“I know, man, it’s okay.” Blair said, rubbing Jim’s back.

“Blair honey, you are so easily fooled.  He’s using you and me both.” Naomi said evilly.

Jim turned to Blair and said, “Bush is here.”

“Don’t let him hear you call him that, man.” Blair opened up the door and said, “Sorry you aren’t here under better circumstances.”

“No problem, Blair.  I’ll take over from here. Come with me, Ms. Sandburg.” Bushing said sternly.

“Jim, you can’t just stand there and let this brute take me away.  Help me.  Tell him it’s all a mistake.” Naomi begged, trying to get away from Bushing.

“Naomi, you brought this all on yourself.  Now you have to deal with it.” Jim said, turning and walking away from the two of them.

Naomi started to fight him, but Bushing put a hand over her mouth, held on tight and carried her out of the loft.  Blair was scared of what this man would do to his mother and then he remembered what his mom had just done to Jim.  He joined Jim in the kitchen for a cup of tea.

“What do you think he’s going to do to her, Jim?” Blair asked.

“Blair, he won’t hurt her.  Don’t worry.”

“No, I just wondered how he’s going to keep her away from you.  She’s worse, you know?  It’s fucking scary that she came into our home.”

“Yeah, it is, but Bush will take care of things and see that she’s taken care of. He’s a good man.”

When they finished their tea, they climbed the stairs and Blair held Jim in his arms.  He didn’t want sex.  He just wanted to hold on to him.  Blair felt like things were slipping out of his control and that scared him.

Before long both men were sound asleep.  Not a dreamless sleep, but sleep none the less.

Downstairs, Bushing had opened his van up and Naomi screamed, but Bushing covered her mouth quickly.  In the van, another man was waiting and he grabbed her.  The two of them got her in the back, tied her up and then Bushing drove off.  Once they were on the outskirts of town, he pulled over to the side of the road and turned on the light in the van and said, “Okay, we now can talk, Nina Sands.”

“What do you want? What are you going to do to me?” she asked fearfully.

“It all depends on what you tell us, Nina.” the second man said.

“Who are you?” Naomi asked.

“I’m a friend of your drug runner.  He owes me a lot of money and he gave me your name years ago. Time to pay up or I’ll make you wish you were dead.” the man said savagely.

“I don’t have any money.  I never had any of his money.” Naomi pleaded.

“He said you had it hid and spent a lot of it on your druggie friends.” Bushing said.

“That’s not true.  I never got any money from him.” Naomi challenged him.

“Not true and we’re going to get our money one way or the other.  You have one week to come up with it.” the man said.

“I don’t have any fucking money, you moron’s.” Naomi spat out.

“Don’t push me, lady.  I want to break your neck right now.  The only reason I’m not, is because this man asked me not to. But after one week, you’ll have no chance.” the man said and got out of the van.  He walked down the road with Bushing and Naomi watching him fade into the dark.

“Ms. Sandburg, I would suggest you do one of two things.  Either come up with the money that the runner gave you or check yourself into a mental hospital where he can’t get to you.  He’s going to kill you.  I’m just warning you.” Bushing said.

“Oh, like I’m going to check myself into a mental hospital.  Do I look like an idiot?” Naomi asked.

“Well, I didn’t think so but I might have been wrong.  He’s going to kill you for that money, Ms. Sandburg.  And there's nothing you can do to stop him.”

“I’ll think about it.  Besides, he doesn’t know where I’ll be.” She said, sounding almost brave.

“You just keep telling yourself that Naomi and then I’ll help Jim comfort your son when your body's found.” Bushing said coldly.

“Can I reach you somehow?” Naomi asked.

“Here's my card.  I found you once, I’ll find you again.  Didn’t you think it odd that I got to Jim’s loft so quickly? I knew you were there.  I’ve been watching you.”

“I’ll call you in a few days and let you know what I decide to do.” Naomi said.

Bushing untied her, threw her bodily out of the van and drove off.  He didn’t even see if she got up from the ground.  He didn’t really care.  This was one sick, fucking mother.

Naomi walked all the way back to Cascade, got to her place, called her neighbor and told her what had happened.  They got together and made plans for what was going to happen in the next few days.  Naomi welcomed someone helping her, although she would have preferred it be Jim.  Damn Blair.  Why was he doing this?

When Jim woke up in the morning, Blair was in the shower.  He just lay in bed.  He didn’t know what to say to his love.  He had hurt him and he didn’t know if Blair could forgive him.  Jim put the pillow over his face and just breathed in the scent of his lover.

When Blair came up the stairs, he almost laughed when he saw Jim lying there with his pillow over his face.  “Jim?”

“What?”

“Take the pillow off of your face and talk to me.”

Jim pulled the pillow off of his face and looked at Blair.  He saw nothing but love shining in Blair’s eyes.  “Baby, I’m so sorry.”

“Jim, you don’t have to be sorry.  Let’s not start this already.  I love you.  You love me.  We’re going to be fucking happy if we have to kill someone.” Blair said. laughing.

Blair got back into bed and said, “You have to get up and take a shower but I just want to hold you for a few minutes.  That okay with you?”

“Oh yeah.  Thank you for loving me, Blair.” Jim said crawling into Blair’s arms and cuddling.

Two hours later, they were at work as if nothing had happened.  Simon stuck his head out of his office and said, “Sandburg, Ellison, could I see you in my office?”

Both men looked at each other, not liking the way Simon said it.  They walked into Simon’s office and Simon shut the door and said, “May as well sit down.  This is going to take awhile.”

Both men sat down in front of Simon’s desk.  “What’s up, Simon?” Blair asked.

“Gentlemen, have you seen Ms. Sandburg since the last time?”

“No, why?” Blair answered and looked over at Jim and saw the look of shock on his face.  Jim doesn’t like to lie so I’ll do it for him.

“Well, Cascade Mental Hospital called this morning.  Naomi Sandburg checked herself in.  She said that she was at your loft last night and you both threatened her and that you hired two men to kill her.” Simon said, not believing a word of what he was saying.

“Well, at least she’s in the right place.  Man, she lost it big time. Didn’t she, Jim?”

“Well, I really didn’t know her before so I don’t know how she was before.” Jim said, missing the whole idea of just agreeing with Blair.  Blair wanted to kick him in the shin and say, “Did you take the idiot pill I gave you?”

Jim looked at Simon and said, “So what’s this mean to us?”

“Well, we have to take a statement saying this woman was not threatened by you or Sandburg. Not a big thing.  She signed herself in, but once we do this then they have control over her well-being.  She can’t sign herself out after that. Oh and she also mentioned that the two men were friends of yours, Jim.” Simon said, smiling at Jim. “Is she talking about Bushing?”

“Sir, I sure don’t know what you’re talking about.” Blair said.

“Can it, Sandburg.  Jim, I know that Bushing has been following her.  I have a feeling he might have threatened her in some way.  However, I truly believe that she’s in the best place for her right now.  What do you think, Jim?”

“I think you’re right, sir.  She can’t hurt anyone this way.  Believe me, she was getting worse and it was hurting Sandburg.” Jim said.

“Okay, well, Brown and Rafe are going to take your statements and then if you want to you can go and see your mother.” Simon said.

“No, that’s all right.  I’ll see her in a week or two.” Blair said, getting up and starting for the door.

“Blair, she’s still your mom.  So, finish your statement and then go and see her.  See if you can help in any way.  That way you’ll know you’ve done all you can to help.” Simon said.

“Fine, sir.” Blair said, walking out of the office.

“I’ll watch out for him, sir.” Jim said getting up.

“Jim, I know that something went down last night.  Just don’t let this come back and bite either of you in the ass.”

“Simon, I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Jim said as he walked out of Simon’s office.

Simon knew damn well that Jim, Blair and Bushing had something to do with this.  He just didn’t know why or how. He wasn’t going to worry about it right now. Right now, he was going to sit down in his peaceful office and have a nice hot cup of coffee.

Blair watched Jim all morning long after they gave their statements.  He could tell that Jim was ready to admit everything to anyone and everyone.  Blair finally said, “Jim, can we go to lunch?”

“I need to finish up this paperwork first, Chief.” Jim said, smiling at him for the first time that day.

“That can’t wait till we get back?”

“I guess so.  What’s wrong?” Jim asked, almost panicked.

“Nothing, I just want to talk to you and want to do it alone.  Could we go?” Blair asked.

“Yeah, I’ll meet you downstairs.  I just need to tell Simon where we’re going.  Be right there.” Jim said getting up.

Blair waited in the truck and Jim finally came out of the elevator and got into the truck.  “Where to, chief? “

“I figured Angelo’s on Third Ave. What do you think?”

“What’s the occasion?” Jim asked.

“I want to romance you.  Do you have a problem with that, Jim?” Blair asked sweetly.

“No, but why?”

“Why do I want to romance you?  Man, you need romancing more than I thought.  I love you, you big lug.  I want you more than anyone I’ve ever wanted in my life does. I can’t live without you. So, there you go.  I want to romance you.  You’re stuck with me.” Blair said, smiling.

Jim just smiled at him and said, “Well, how can I argue with that?”

“That’s right.  You might as well get used to agreeing with me, man.  I’m going to be the one that’s always right.”

“Chief, thanks.” Jim said< so softly that Blair barely heard it.

When they got to the restaurant, Blair asked for a cozy booth and that’s how he worded it.  Jim smiled.  He wasn’t embarrassed; he seemed to like being romanced.  Little did Blair know that this was the first time that Jim would be romanced in his life.

They got to the booth and Blair ordered for both of them.  The entire time he held Jim’s hand in his own.  Jim loved this and Blair found himself falling for this man even more.  He was so fucking sweet and loving.  He didn’t ask for much... he just wanted to be loved.  Blair could do that for him.

When their lunch came, they ate off each other’s plates.  Jim said, “Blair, I love you so much.  I want you to know that I’ll never be able to show you how much, but I do.”

“Jim, you’re wrong.  I can tell how much you love me.  When I asked for the cozy booth, your face lit up.  I could tell how much you loved me.  This works out great since we’re both wild about each other.” Blair said, laughing.

Then Blair leaned into Jim and kissed him.  This was really the first time that Jim had been kissed, in the daylight, by Blair.  Blair had to stop from giggling when Jim moaned into his mouth.  I love being with such a slut.

Once lunch was done, they walked hand in hand out to the truck and got in.  Blair kissed Jim once more before they had to go back to their real life.  He knew they couldn’t make out all the time.  It wouldn’t work that way.  When they drove by a florist shop, Blair said, “Hey, Jim, I need to send Megan some flowers.  I’ll meet you back at the office.”

Jim pulled up and stopped and said, “Okay, don’t be too long.  We need to finish that report and give it to Simon.”

“Like you can’t do that report with your eyes closed.” Blair said, laughing.

“Fine.  Take your time. I’ll take care of it.” Jim said, smiling as he drove off.

Blair watched Jim drive off and couldn’t help but smile.  God, he was so fucking lucky.  Jim was everything he would ever need.

When he got inside, he ordered flowers for Megan Conner thanking her for her work helping he and Jim through all of this.  He then ordered Roses for his mom and signed it, your loving son.  Sandburg, that’s almost sick.  Then, like mother, like son.   Finally, yet most importantly, he ordered a beautiful plant for Jim’s desk and wrote a quick poem for him.

Jim,

You are my life; you are my hope.
You make me believe in happy endings.
I want your life to be as complete as mine.
I’m going to love you like no other has.
You mean more to me than anything.
Let me just watch you for the rest of my life.
You’re beauty and grace.
I’m in love with a six foot angel.

Yours forever,
Blair

Once that was done, Blair felt a lot better.  He was going to busy himself in the next few weeks and romance Jim until it drove everyone wild.  Blair didn’t care what everyone thought.  He wanted everyone to know about them.  He was so damn proud of them.  He hoped that all of their friends would be, too.  He wasn’t a stupid man.  He knew that there were going to be problems but he felt like things were going to be all right with their friends.

Blair practically skipped all the way back to the station.  He was so fucking happy.  He hoped that he’d feel this way forever.  When he walked into the bullpen, he saw Jim and the look on his face told Blair that Jim was feeling the same thing.

About an hour later, a deliveryman came upstairs for Megan and Jim.  He gave Megan hers and she was ecstatic.  She picked up the phone and called Blair and thanked him and then called Jim and told him thank you.  Then the deliveryman came over and asked for Jim Ellison.  Jim took one look at the gorgeous plant and knew it was from Sandburg.  Only he would do something that classy.  He gave the man a tip and then put it on his desk.  Sitting down, he pulled the card out and started to read it.  He read it once, read it a second time and then he got up from his desk and walked past Blair and into the restroom.

Rafe said, “Did someone die or something?  He looked pretty upset.  Do you know what’s going on, Hairboy?”

“No, but I’ll make sure he’s okay.” Blair said.

He walked into the restroom and he could hear Jim breathing heavy.  “Jim?”

There was no answer.  Blair looked underneath the stalls until he saw Jim’s shoes and stopped in front of the door.  “Baby, are you all right?”

“I’m fine.”

“No, you’re not fine.  Why did you come in here.  Did I say something wrong?  Did I do something wrong?” Blair asked, totally confused.

Jim opened up the stall door and pulled Blair into said stall.  Blair looked up into Jim’s tear filled eyes and said, “I guess you liked it okay then? “

“I loved it, baby.  I love you.” Jim said and kissed him hard.

“Okay, tough guy, I’m going out because everyone's worried about you.  I’ll tell them that it was from an aunt or something and it moved you deeply.  Clean yourself up and get back out there.” Blair bossed.

“No.”

“No?” Blair asked. ”No what?”

“You don’t tell them anything.  If anyone asks, I’ll say whatever I want, but don’t you do it for me.” Jim said as he kissed him and pushed him out of the stall.

When he came walking out of the restroom, Rafe said, “Is he okay? “

“Ask him when he comes out.  He wouldn’t talk to me.”

When Jim came walking out of the restroom, Rafe said, “Jim, you okay?  Man, we got a little worried about you.”

“I’m fine, Rafe.  I got a card from Blair and it got to me a little more than I thought it would.” Jim said, smiling.

“From Hairboy?” Rafe said.

“Yup.” Jim answered, saying nothing more.

A few minutes later, Henry came over and said, “Jim, is it true?  You and Hairboy?”

“Yup.” Jim said and went back to work on his files.

Blair started laughing.  You gotta love that big talker.

Conner walked over and said, “Love the plant, Jim.  He has great taste in men and flowers.” As she walked away Jim couldn’t help but look at Blair and smile.

“We have great friends, Chief.  Thank you for the plant and the little note.  I loved it.” Jim said sweetly.

Simon came to the doorway and said, "Sandburg, could I see you for a minute?”

Blair got up, walked into his office and said, “Simon?”

“I thought I would let you know that your mom had a major setback.  The doctors had to sedate her and they’re calling in some specialist.  She became less lucid as the day wore on. They said you needn’t bother going to see her.  She’s going to be too out of it.”

“Thanks for letting me know, Simon.  She was really losing it lately.  I hope that they can figure out what happened to her.” Blair said sadly.

“Did you get Jim the plant on his desk?” Simon asked.

“Yeah, I did.  It’s a great plant, isn’t it?” Blair asked beaming.

“He’s a great guy, too, Blair. Be happy.” Simon said.

“Thanks, sir.  I’ll get back to work now.” Blair said as he walked out the door.

When he sat down Jim asked him what was wrong and he said, “Nothing's wrong.  I’m trying to figure out where to take you tonight.  I’m going to continue romancing you, man.”

“Blair, you already got me.  You don’t have to turn my head.  I’m there, babe.” Jim said, laughing.

“I don’t care.  I want you to know how much you mean to me.” Blair said.

“Okay.  I love being romanced. I have to tell you this is the first time in my life anyone's done that.” Jim said, smiling shyly.

“Well, it’s going to be the last time.  You’re mine and I’m not sharing.” Blair said, chuckling.

“Good, because I don’t want to be shared.” Jim said, trying to keep himself from kissing Blair.  He wanted to so badly.

Blair saw the look on his face and said, “Meet you downstairs. I’ll tell Simon we’re going home.”

“Deal.” Jim said and practically ran to the elevator.

Blair went to Simon’s office, knocked and opened the door.  “Hey, Simon, I wanted to tell you that we’re leaving for the day.”

“Sandburg, I wanted to tell you not to worry about taking some time off to see your mom.  Just let me know.  Okay?”

”Thanks, Simon.  That’s really nice of you.  I’ll let you know. It’s going to take me awhile to get past all of this.”

“Yeah, but she’s your mom so you know you will get past it.” Simon said, patting Blair on the back.

“Well, I have to go.  I’m taking Jim out tonight. Any ideas on somewhere really nice?  Somewhere where I could dance with him?”

“Well, have you been to Deserie’s? Great food and dancing.  I see men dancing with each other all the time.  No one notices.”

“Thanks, I’ll take him there tonight.” Blair said. “See you tomorrow.”

“Have a day off tomorrow.  Take a cab and get him drunk.” Simon said, laughing.

“He would die if he knew we were up here planning this.” Blair said, laughing along with Simon.

He went to his desk, called Deserie’s and made reservations for 7:00.  Blair flew down the stairs and jumped into the truck.  Jim smiled when he jumped in and said, “Where to, Chief?”

“Home, James.  We have reservations for dinner at 7:00 so let's get home and change.”

“We’re going out again?” Jim asked, smiling.

“We sure are.  I found out about a nice place and we’re checking it out tonight. That okay with you?” Blair asked.

“Yeah, that’s fine with me.” Jim said.

The rest of the drive was quiet.  Jim was trying to figure out if perhaps Blair was romancing him to keep his mind off his mom.  Jim wasn’t sure about that.  He’d have to find out.

When they got home, they showered and Jim sat Blair down to talk to him.  “Chief, I think that part of this romancing thing's to take your mind off Naomi.  I totally understand.  We need to focus a little on your mom.”

“Jim, I know what I’m doing.  I’m romancing you.  It’s not to take my mind off Naomi.  Believe me, I know how to do that.  I’m going to see my mom tomorrow.  I’m not that worried about it. I’m romancing you because you’re fucking great.  I love you.  Get it?”

“Got it.  Sorry.”

“Ready, hot stuff?” Blair said, smiling.

Jim went to grab his keys and Blair said, “Nope, we’re taking a cab. We’re going to drink as much as we want.”

“Oh, you think you’ll have your wicked way with me if I’m drunk?” Jim asked, laughing.

“Baby, I know, I’ll have my wicked way with you, drunk or not.” Blair said sweetly.

They got into the cab and went to the restaurant.  They sat down when they were shown their table and Jim looked around and said, “How come we’ve never been here?”

“Simon told me about it.”

“It’s a nice place.  I love the music.” Jim said, looking around and realized there were some male couples on the dance floor and looked at Blair and said, “We’re going to dance?”

“If that’s all right with you.” Blair said, almost shy suddenly.

“I’d love to, baby.” Jim stood up and Blair joined him on the dance floor.  They went into each other's arms and flowed across the dance floor.  Jim was surprised how easily they both changed to accept the new way of letting the other lead off and on.  They danced for three songs and Jim said, “This is fantastic Blair.  This is the nicest thing I’ve ever done.  I love you.”

“I love you to, Jim.  I gotta tell you this romancing thing is great.  I love it.” Blair said and pulled Jim down and they kissed.  At first, Jim almost pulled away.  Dancing was one thing but kissing on the dance floor might be pushing the limit.  Then he smelled Blair’s scent and was lost in it.  Blair could have stripped him and bent him over the table, fucking him senseless.  He was putty in this man’s hands.

Bushing and a friend were there and he watched Jimmy and Blair.  He was saddened to realize that Jimmy and he would never have the kind of relationship that the two men dancing had but he also loved to see Jimmy that happy. That Sandburg fellow was damn good at romancing Jimmy Ellison.

Dinner was wonderful, as one would expect from a nice club.  Jim kept smiling at Blair the whole time.  He also wondered when the bubble would pop.  Things were going too smoothly.  Looking over at Blair he stood up and said, “I’ll be right back, Chief.”

“Okay, man.  I’ll be waiting.”

Jim walked to the restroom and it was this huge room with a nice sofa.  Jim sat down on the sofa and decided he needed to think.  When was the last time you were ever romanced? In fact, can you remember a time when you ever were? Did you ever get this feeling with Carolyn?  I don’t think so.  In fact, she was the opposite.  She hated outward signs of affection being shown in public.  Used to bother him, but he got used to it.  After awhile a person begins to act like the person they live with.  Oh god.

Jim went into one of the stalls and shut the door for more thinking.  Fuck… Why do you always end up in the stalls in the bathroom?  You have to get some new thinking places; it’s as simple as that. It all started at his house growing up.  He loved his mother so much.  She loved him he thought so anyhow.  Then one day she just left them with his dad.  How could she leave he and Stevie with Dad?  It made no sense.  Dad was so busy all the time; he didn’t know what to do with us.  He made me feel like I was an outcast.  I’m sure he was trying to protect me but to a child, it was cruel.  He couldn’t remember one time when his dad had hugged him.  Never… What a sad thing to think about.  It’s no fucking wonder that you don’t know how to handle Blair wanting to romance you.

Jim heard the door open and Blair knocked on the door and said, “You gonna come out of there or did you want me to have them bring the food in here?”

“I’m coming.  I had some thinking to do and sometimes I do it best in private. I’m sorry, baby.” Jim said as he walked out of the stall.  Blair saw the dark circles under his eyes and asked, “Jim, are you all right?”

“Yeah, baby.  I just have to catch my breath, that's all.”

When they got to the table Blair held on to Jim’s hand and said, “So can you talk about it?  What’s bothering you?”

“It started with my mom.  It just hit me tonight.  I want you to do whatever you need to with your mom.  Do you promise?”

“Yeah, I’ll go see her tomorrow.”

“Thank you, Blair.  I was thinking how much I loved my mom.  She was a nice person, or at least I thought so.  But why would she have left me if she was nice, right?”

“Well, Jim, Mom’s leave for different reason’s.  You aren’t certain of her reasons, are you?  Did you ever ask William?”

“No, but I think I will.  I need to know if he knows why she left.  Jesus, there are a ton of things it might have been.  It makes me very sad.”

“So it was just thinking about your mom?” Blair asked, looking over at Jim with such love that Jim almost started crying right there at the table.

He looked away quickly and said, “No, I was thinking of some other things.  I don’t want to discuss them here though.”

“Hey, our food will be a few more minutes.  Wanna dance one more time?” Blair asked, standing up and holding out his hand.

“Yeah, I would.” Jim smiled as he took Blair’s hand.

“Blair, you're a wonderful dancer.  I had no idea.”

“Well, of course you didn’t.  This is our first dancing experience.  But it won’t be our last, believe me.”

“Thank you so much, Chief.  This is really nice.  I love you.”

“Good, because I love you back. Man, that looks like our food on that tray.  What do you think?”

“I think you’re right.  God, it smells wonderful.”

They both sat down and Blair leaned in and kissed Jim quickly as the waiter was putting their food down in front of them.  The smile on Jim’s face was enough to keep him happy for the rest of his life.  Oh man, you have it so bad.  You are so smitten; it isn’t even funny.

Again, the men tried food from each others plates.  Jim smiled at Blair and said, “This is something that probably wouldn’t have flown with Carolyn.  She would take things from my plate but I would have never taken anything from her.”

“Why not?” Blair asked truthfully.

“Maybe I felt like she wasn’t open enough for me to do that with.  I don’t know.  You tell me.  Why wouldn’t I have done that with her?”

“Jim, did you ever think that maybe you just weren’t in love?  Did that ever cross your mind?”

“No.”

“Well, now that I brought it up, what do you think?”

“I think I’d really like to get off this subject and finish my dinner.  It’s terrific.  Do I get some of that great dessert that the waiter told us about?” Jim asked, finally getting the subject changed.

“Sure, if that’s what you want, babe.”

“Blair, I’ll talk to you when we get home, all right?  I just want this to be our night.  Let's relax and get back to having a good time.”

“I couldn’t agree more. I love you, Jim.”

They finished dinner and ordered two desserts that Blair said would clog up their arteries.  Jim didn’t care and he knew that Blair didn’t, either.  They played a swing type song and Blair said, “oh yeah, this is perfect.  Come on, tough guy, I’m going to show you some great moves.”

Jim let himself be led out to the dance floor and he whispered to Blair, “I don’t know how to swing dance.”

“I’ll teach you.  It’s a blast.  Listen to the beat, man.  You’ll be one step ahead of most people.  Then you just follow my lead.”

The two men started dancing and before long Jim was swing dancing.  Blair was right; it was a blast.  Jim couldn’t remember having this much fun in his life.  Could this night possibly get any better?

When they walked off the dance floor, Blair could tell that Jim was a little tipsy and they did have to work tomorrow.  Blair got the bill, paid it and left a generous tip.  As the two men walked outside to get a cab, Jim leaned down and kissed him hard.  “I love you so much, Chief.  Thank you so much for tonight.”

Blair smiled to himself because he knew that tonight wasn’t done with.  He’d made some plans behind Jim’s back with Conner.  He’d given her his key and knew that things would be ready when they got back to the loft.  Blair could hardly wait.

Once inside the cab, Blair pulled Jim next to him despite the dirty look from the driver.  He then proceeded to kiss Jim until he was ready to come from that alone.

“Blair, you kiss like I’m the only thing in your life.  I love that.”

“Jim, you are.”

“God, I love you, Baby.” Jim said snuggling up with this wonderful man, patiently waiting to get to their home so he could fuck him senseless.  Ellison, how did you get so damned lucky?

When they pulled up in front of the loft, the driver continued to give them nasty looks and Jim said, “Don’t tip him, Chief.”

“I don’t plan on it, man.  What a jerk.” Blair said as he handed exactly what was due to the cabbie and walked off.  The cab driver said something foul to Blair and Blair leaned down to the window and said, “I’m a cop.  You wanna say that louder this time?”

Funny thing, the damn guy drove off like a bat out of hell.  Jim laughed as they walked up the stairs.

When Jim opened the door because Blair said he’d forgotten his key, they both stood there and looked around.  The loft was lit up with candles.  Everywhere you looked was a candle.  It was beautiful.  All unscented.  Only Blair would think to use unscented for me.

Blair shut the door and locked up for the night.  “Wanna take a shower, big man?”

“Yeah, I do.  I want to clean up in case a certain person wants to fuck me senseless.” Jim said, smiling.

He slapped Jim’s ass and said, “So get moving then.  I’ll be waiting for you upstairs.”  Jim laughed as Blair ran up the stairs.

Jim hopped in the shower and cleaned up.  He was hoping that Blair would do a certain something to him tonight so made sure he was very clean.  Oh god, Ellison, you’re turning into such a slut.  I can’t believe how bad you are.

Blair could hear Jim downstairs in the shower and knew that Jim was cleaning up everything and everywhere.  Hot damn, I’m hooked up with a slut.  He loves the idea of being tongue fucked.  All right.

There were clean sheets on the bed.  Next to the bed was flavored lube, scented oil for massage and flowers next to Jim’s side of the bed.  Blair had written another poem for Jim, to set beside the flowers.  He was damn lucky to be so close to Conner.  He knew he could count on her to do anything for him.

Jim came walking up the stairs with his robe on and saw all of the candles, flowers and clean sheets and said, “All right...when did you do this? “

“Conner helped me out, man.  I couldn’t have done it without her.”

“It looks great, baby. “ Jim said as he eyeballed the roses.  He saw a card and bent down to pick it up when he saw his name on the envelope.  Jim pulled the card out with shaking fingers.  Shit!  A person can only take so much good stuff in one day.

It was a beautiful card with two trees, side by side, showing their roots intertwined.  Opening the card, he read:

Jim,

Like the trees on this card, we're stuck together.  We are bound together by something so strong that nothing can separate us. We’ll be together forever.  I love you more than anyone or anything in the world.  I just wanted to show you how much.  Now come and kiss me.

Yours forever,
Blair.

Jim practically threw the card on the bed as he went into Blair’s arms.  Big tears were falling down his cheeks.  “Jim, let's talk for awhile and just hold on to each other.  What do you think of that?”

“Sounds good to me, Chief.” Jim said, crawling onto the bed and Blair followed him.  They both were naked so they climbed under the covers and held on tight.  Blair could feel the trembling in Jim’s arms and chest.  Blair wasn’t certain this was a good or bad thing.  “Jim, your shaking is a good thing, right?”

“Yeah, Chief, it’s a good thing.  I’m just happy.  Give me a few minutes and I’ll be okay.”

“Jim, you don’t need to be brave for me, tough guy.  Just be your normal self.  What would you do if you were alone?”

Jim snuggled closer to Blair and he felt Jim shake harder.  Then he heard the soft sobbing.  “Jim, I love you, baby.” Blair whispered as he rubbed Jim’s back.  Jim started calming down, and Blair noticed that he was also getting hard as a rock.  It was digging into Blair.  Oh shit, all I think about is sex.  Damn, I’m a slut too.

Blair started kissing Jim and knew he was going to make this man forget anything that was troubling him.

Jim pulled back and said, “Can we talk first, Blair?”

“Sure.” Blair answered, somewhat confused.

“In the whole time I was married to Carolyn I never came home to anything like this.  I’m not just blaming her.  I never did it for her, either.  You might have been right, Blair.  What if we just admired each other and our work?  What if we never loved each other ever?  Don’t you think that’s sad?”

“No, Jim.  A lot of people don’t find out until it’s too late that they aren’t in love.  Now I’m lucky enough to know that I’m so much in love with you you’re never getting away from me, do you hear?”

“Yeah, I do.  I’m so fucking glad. This is exactly what I needed, baby.  I plan on doing this type of thing for you now and then but you might have to give me some pointers.  I never want you to feel like I did with Carolyn.”

“Jim, believe me, I’m never going to feel that.  See, in most relationships it takes one of them to do the work.  I already know that’s going to be me.” Blair said, laughing as Jim poked him in the sides.

“Very funny, Chief.  I fucking love you so much.  I adore you.  You’re my life.”

“Now that's romance, Jim.  Did you do that with Carolyn?”

“No, never.” Jim answered truthfully.

“Well, there you go.  You weren’t in love.  It seems simple to me.  Course, that’s because I wanted to be your first love.  Do you think I am?”

“Oh yeah, Chief, you are.  I only thought I loved the others.”

“Good, you’re my first love, too.” Blair said, beaming up at Jim making Jim feel all warm and happy.

“Thank god.” Jim said.

“Now, shush, so I can have my wicked way with you.” Blair said, laughing.

“Who am I to argue with my Chief?”

Blair flipped Jim over quickly before Jim really had time to think about what Blair was doing.  He then slid pillows under him to make him more comfortable as he said, “Show me what you want, Jim.”

Jim spread his legs as far as he could and had his ass up in the air.  Blair got instantly hard just looking at this divine creature.  Thank god he belonged to him.

Blair kissed Jim’s ass and Jim started moaning automatically.  Jim knew what was coming.  Sandburg, stop using the word come.  We don’t want to come now.

Blair pulled Jim’s cheeks apart and he swore he heard Jim whimper.  He dipped into the crevice and licked a few times and had Jim shaking like a leaf.  Oh yeah, this was going to be so fucking good. He began to give Jim a tongue bath like he’d only dreamed of.  Jim’s ass kept coming up higher and higher.  Blair smiled when he thought of how this might look to someone else. This was the single most sexy, sensual thing that he and Jim could ever do.  Blair slid his tongue inside of Jim and Jim screamed as a jungle cat would.  That turned Blair on even more.  Blair just kept fucking him with his tongue and then started stroking on Jim’s cock until Jim said, “Chief, I want to come with you... please?”

Blair didn’t listen.  He just kept doing what he was doing and Jim screamed, “Oh fuck, Chief, I’m coming.”

The spasm around Blair’s tongue was enough to drive Blair over the edge.  He didn’t touch himself.  Hell, he didn’t have to do anything, he came just doing this to Jim.  Oh god, we're both sluts. *

Blair pulled out of Jim’s body and got wipes for them to clean up with.  Once that was done, Blair snuggled into bed with Jim.

Jim said, “I love you, baby.”

“I love you back, Jim.  I always will.”

“Will you make me a promise?”

“Sure, tough guy, what’s the request?”

“Let’s go to the hospital tomorrow.  We won’t go into work until later and we can see how your mom's doing.”

“You seriously know how to ruin a mood, Jim.”

“Baby, just promise me that much.”

“Fine, I promise.  Shit!  You're a damn bossy sentinel.” Blair grumbled as he started to fall asleep.

Jim pulled him even closer and followed him.  Jim knew that they would see Naomi tomorrow and things would work out.  He just knew it.

An inner voice somewhere was screaming, * Ellison, you’re a fucking idiot. *

When Jim awoke the next morning he smiled at Blair sleeping next to him.  God, how he loved sleeping with him.  Blair made everything right.  He made his life complete.  Yes, he’d watched Jerry McGuire way too many times.  Couldn't you tell?  Now he felt like he owed something to Blair.  He was going to help him get through this mess with Naomi.  Blair kept saying it didn’t bother him but Jim knew from experience that repression's a sneaky thing.  You think that things don’t bother you but they do. Today, he’d call them both out and they'd go and see how Naomi was.

Jim got out of bed, walked down the stairs and dialed the station to talk to Simon.  When Simon answered, he said, “Simon, I need to have the day off along with Sandburg.  We’re going to go and see his mom.”

“I told Sandburg he could take time off so that will be fine, Jim.  Just keep me posted if you need more time off.” Simon said.

“Thanks, Simon.” Jim replied, hanging up the phone.

Jim started the coffee and began making some breakfast.  He had a nice breakfast made by the time Blair came walking down the stairs.  “Man, we’re going to be like so late.”

“Don’t worry, I called us both in sick.” Jim said, smiling.

“Jim, why would you call me in sick?” Blair asked, and he didn’t seem at all happy about it.

“I figured that we could go and see your mom.  We need to find out how she is and put this behind us, right?” Jim asked.

“Jim, you’re the one that wants to see her, not me.  I was going to go at my own leisure.  I didn’t realize that she meant so much to you that you had to see her, too.”

“Hold on, Chief.  This is not working like it should.  I don’t want to see her at all.  I just wanted to go up there with you.  Moral support, that's all.”

“Okay, I can accept that.  I thought you meant you wanted to see her.” Blair said, looking over at Jim oddly.

“Shit, Chief.  I can’t believe you still think I have feelings for her.  I never did.  I just got confused with her scent and heartbeat.  However, it will never happen again.  I love you, baby.  I don’t want anyone else.  I just want to ride along with you and be there for you when you come out.”

“All right.  I’ll gladly take the ride up to the hospital.  I do want to see her.  I don’t know what I’m going to do with those feelings but I still want to see her.” Blair said.

They ate breakfast together and Jim was afraid to say anything for fear that he would say it wrong.  Blair seemed to be a little on the nervous side today so Jim wasn’t going to push him in any way.  “Chief, I’ll clean up the kitchen if you want to shower first.”

“I thought we could shower together.” Blair almost begged.  Blair wanted Jim right now.  He needed to be in his arms.  He needed to feel like Jim desired him.

“Sounds good to me, Chief.” Jim said as they walked into the bathroom together.  Blair was entirely too quiet.  Jim wanted to hear Blair talk and soon.

Once naked, they both stepped into the shower and Jim started soaping up Blair’s body.  As he stroked Blair’s cock, Blair was leaning against Jim moaning and begging him to fuck him.  Jim couldn’t resist.  He prepared Blair and entered slowly as they both got used to the feelings in their bodies.  “Talk to me, Jim.  Please?”

“I love you, baby.  You do things to me that no one's ever done.  I can’t wait to be in your arms while we’re at work or at home.  God, you make me feel like a different person.  It’s wonderful making love to you.  My body wants you all the time.  I have to keep telling my cock to calm down when you’re in the room.  That’s right, baby.  I like to hear you moaning.  Keep doing that.  I’m going to give it to you hard now, baby.  Hold on because we’re going to rock and roll.”

Blair couldn’t help it; he started laughing, but he didn’t laugh long because Jim bent him over and was shoving his cock in so deep that Blair started screaming Jim’s name repeatedly. “I told you, baby.  I love to hear you moan and scream.  Oh yeah, come for me, baby.  Come for me now.” Blair came with a scream that was so loud it hurt Jim’s ears.  Jim turned his hearing down quickly so that it wasn’t bad.  Jim continued pounding into Blair until he came.  The whole time he was shouting, “You're mine, baby.  You belong to me and only me.”

Jim pulled Blair up against his body and said, “Did I hurt you?”

“No way, man, that was fan-fucking-tastic. That was unbelievable.  I love you.”

“I love you too, Chief.  Now, let's get cleaned up and get this show on the road.” Jim said, starting to clean Blair up.

“Hey, hot stuff, stop it.  This is what started the whole thing.” Blair said, laughing.

When they stepped out of the shower, they were happy men.  Jim looked at Blair’s face and saw the look of a man that was happy and content.  Jim was more than happy to make him feel this way.

They got ready and called the hospital to see if they could go and see Naomi. When Blair got off the phone, he said, “The doctor said that she’s catatonic.  He doesn’t know if she’ll come out of it.  He doesn’t know what caused it.  He asked me about drugs.  They think it was a drug overdose.”

“Baby, didn't they do the drug tests at the hospital?” Jim asked.

“Yeah, but they aren’t back yet.  He said he’ll talk to us when we get there.”

“Okay, let’s get this show on the road then.” Jim said, knowing that Blair was worried even if he tried to act as he wasn’t.

The drive up there was quiet until Blair finally asked, “Jim, you’ve never talked about when you were with my mom.  Why's that?”

“Because I don’t want to.  I tried to forget it.  I wanted to be with you.  To me, it was humiliating.  I had no control because I sensed you.  As you can probably tell, I have no control with you.”

“Are you saying that even if you’re pissed off at me you wouldn’t be able to turn me down?” Blair asked, wanting to find this out.

“Seriously, I don’t think I could turn you down even if you were hurting me.” Jim said.

“Jim, that's royally fucked up.  You have to try and get control of yourself.”

“Well, royally fucked up or not, you’ll have to help me through it, Blair.  I don’t know what else to tell you.  I don’t want to talk about it because it’s your mom, for god's sake.”

“But she seems to think that you had something going on.  Do you think you made her believe that?”

“Chief, let's drop it now before I get pissed off.  Let’s just agree to not bring it up again.” Jim said, angrily.

“Fine.” Blair said and looked out the window.  Somehow, Jim felt like he was losing Blair right now and didn’t have a clue as how to keep him.

Jim gripped the steering wheel harder and harder until his knuckles were white.  Blair looked over and said, “Jim, pull over for a minute.”

Jim pulled over and had a look of pure fear on his face.

Blair said, “Jim, do you love me?”

“Of course I love you, Blair. You know that.”

“Are you embarrassed about what happened between my mom and yourself?”

“Yes, I think so, Chief.”

“Come here.” Blair said, motioning for Jim to come into his arms.  Jim gladly went and allowed Blair to hug him tight.  “I love you, Jim.  I’m sorry.  I’m just feeling insecure and wondered how you felt.”

“I’m in love with you and I’m insecure, too, so let's not do it on the same days, all right?” Jim asked, smiling.

Blair slipped a CD into the player, put it on a certain song and started singing to Jim.  Jim cracked up. He was singing Tuff Enuff, by The Fabulous Thunderbirds.

“Hey, man, are you making fun of the way I sing?” Blair asked.

“Hell, no!  I love the way you sing.  I love everything about you.” Jim said.

“Jim, you're such a fucking romantic, it’s not even funny.  I love it.  I’m going to love this relationship thing.”

“Sing to me some more, Blair.”

When the next song came on, it was Can’t Fight This Feeling, and Blair sang along with REO Speedwagon.  This time Jim didn’t laugh.  Jim found out he loved this romancing stuff.  He loved being sung to.

Blair started laughing when he sang the next song, “It’s In The Way That You Use It, by Eric Clapton. Man, is this song for you or what?”

“It could be the way you use it, Blair.”

Blair noticed that Jim was calling him Blair a lot during this drive.  He wondered if it had something to do with being romanced.  He’d have to try a few things and see what happened and work from there.

Fleetwood Mac came on and Jim sang along with ‘Big Love’ and made Blair smile.  Jim could carry a tune.  Blair was impressed.  Then both men sang along when ‘Bad To The Bone’ came on.  Blair grabbed Jim’s hand and held it close to his heart and Jim had a look on his face that simply melted Blair.

“Jesus, Blair, I love you so much.” Jim said, trying to keep the emotion out of his voice.

“Good, I’m glad to hear it. Do you suppose that’ll wear off soon?” Blair asked.

“I don’t think so.  I feel like we’re going to be a good thing forever.  I won’t believe that we’ll ever be apart.”

Blair kissed the palm of Jim’s hand and that feeling of being loved went right to Jim’s cock.  He couldn’t help it.

“Blair, keep that up and we’ll have to make a pit stop in the woods where I can have my wicked way with you.”

“Oooooh, that sounds like fun.”

“Come on, Chief, let's get up to the hospital and talk to the doctor.” Jim said.

They were quiet the rest of the way but Blair never let go of Jim’s hand.  He kept in close to his heart.  Jim wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

When they got to the hospital, they were led to Doctor Mason’s office.  He walked in and said, “Hello.  I’m Doctor Mason.  You must be Blair and Jim?”

Both men stood up and shook hands with him and Jim said, “I’m Jim Ellison and this is Blair Sandburg.”

“Sit down, gentlemen.  I have some bad news.  Mr. Sandburg, did you know that your mother used odd drugs from time to time?”

“No, my mom wouldn’t have ever used any drugs.” Blair said.

“Well, the tests came back and the police said they found a ton of the stuff in her apartment.  It’s Rohypnol.  It was in her drinks at home.  Anyone that would have come to the house and had anything to drink, wouldn't have had much control.  When you use it too much, it has side effects.  She seems to have overdosed on it.”

“Are you talking about the date rape drug?” Blair asked incredulously.

“Yes, that’s exactly what I’m talking about.  Do you know of anyone that has been with her lately?” the doctor asked.

“Shit!  Jim, did you drink anything at her house either time?” Blair asked.

“Yeah, she made me a drink both times.” Jim said with his head hanging.

“Well, Jim, it’s not your fault at all.  You would've had no control over it.  Especially if you had been drinking or anything.” Doctor Mason said.

“Shit… Shit… Shit…” Jim said and walked out of the room.

“Did your mother take advantage of your friend?”

“Yes, I believe so.  So now what happens?  Where does this leave Naomi?” Blair asked him.

“Well, she's catatonic right now and doesn’t respond to anything.  I'd say she’s going to be this way for a long time.  I'd even venture to say she might be like this for the rest of her life but we can never make any guarantees.  Nothing in life is ever for sure.” Doctor Mason said.

“Could I see her, Doctor?”

“Of course.  She’s going to be kept in an isolation unit where all of the comatose patients are.” Doctor Mason said as they walked down the hall in search of Naomi Sandburg.

Blair saw Jim sitting down on a bench not far from where they were going and he said, “Jim, will you come with me?” Jim got off the bench and joined Blair in the walk to Naomi’s room.

“You’re welcome to see her as often as you like but I don’t know how aware she is.”

“Thank you, Doctor.” Blair said walking in and looking at his mother.  She seemed so small and lifeless in the bed.  Jim just stood by and held on to Blair’s hand while he talked to Naomi.  They spent about four hours there and then Blair said, “Let’s go home, Jim.  I made my peace.  If it’s okay, we’ll come up once a month but I think she’s in good hands.  What do you think?”

“Yeah, I think so, Chief.  I think she’ll be well cared for here.” Jim replied.

The drive back to home was long and quiet.  Blair didn’t know what to say.  Jim was at a loss for words, too.  They pulled up in front of the loft and as they got out Jim said, “Want me to run and get a pizza for dinner?”

“No, I’m not hungry but if you are, that’s fine.” Blair said as he climbed the stairs.  Jim felt such a loss for his friend.  He didn’t know what to do or say but felt as though Blair would somehow blame him in the long run.

He just knew that he would be there for his friend, no matter what.  Blair was acting like it was no big deal to lose your parent.  It hadn’t hit him yet.  Jim knew that once it did, Blair would either hate him, or be despondent.  Now he just had to sit back and wait and see what happened.

Once they got in the loft, Jim climbed the stairs and lay down on the bed. Jim felt like Blair might need some room.  He was more than happy to give him room.  He could not fuck this up.  It was too important.  Blair paced in the living room not knowing what to say or do with Jim.  Finally, he walked up the stairs and Jim was lying on the bed with his back to him.  “Jim, I’m so sorry for what my mom did to you.  I’m so sorry that I didn’t believe that you didn’t have any control.”

“Chief, you had no control over what your mother did. I, on the other hand, should have had a clue that there was something wrong with my senses or something.  I blame myself, Blair.  I really do. I understand why you blame me.”

“I just got done saying I don’t blame you. I’m sorry for what she did to you.”

“But you said you hadn’t believed me.  I didn’t know that before.  I thought you believed me. Shit, you thought I made it up?” Jim asked, with such pain in his voice that Blair’s heart broke.

“Jim, that came out wrong.  I’m sorry.  No, I believed you.  I just didn’t understand how it could have happened.  Now I do.  Please don’t think I don’t believe you.” Blair begged of his love.

“Chief, I need to contemplate things and I believe that you need time to think also.  Why don’t I go out for awhile and we’ll talk later.”  Jim said as he got up and started to walk towards the stairs.

“Jim, please don’t leave.  That would be a mistake.”

“Blair, I think it would be best.  I have issues and I want to get them worked out.  I’ll be back after awhile.”

Jim rushed down the stairs, grabbed his jacket and was out the door before Blair could even come up with a reason for him to stay.  Well Sandburg, you've managed to fuck things up already and you can’t even blame anyone else.  It was all you; you stupid fuck

Blair walked down the stairs, paced the living room and spoke out to himself.  “Jim, why did you have to leave?  We need to talk but we can’t do it when you aren’t here.  God, I love you so much.  I need you in my arms.  I want you to hold me in yours.  Please come back, Jim.  Please.  I promise I won’t fuck things up again.” Then Blair lay down on the sofa and began to cry.

Little did Blair know Jim was still right outside the door.  He hadn’t decided what he was going to do.  He heard Blair’s litany and decided that maybe they were better off discussing things. Jim’s heart was breaking.  They would work things out.  He couldn’t stand the thought of making Blair cry.  No way could he live with himself doing that.

Jim walked into the loft and said, “Blair, I’m so sorry.”

Blair jumped up, ran into Jim’s arms and held on for dear life.  “Jim, I’m sorry, too.  I’m so fucking sorry. It never occurred to me that there could have been drugs used on you.  I was so quick to think the worst. Jesus, I’m so sorry.”

“It’s okay, Chief.  We don’t know that it was that drug that did it.  We’ll never know.” Jim said, pulling away from Blair.

Fuck… I’m doing it again.  I’m never going to let this man get a break.  I’m fucking up everything about us.  Everything that we hold dear. *  He looked over at Jim and asked, “Are you going to leave me now?”

“What the hell are you talking about?” Jim questioned.

“Well, you won’t look at me and you didn’t talk to me all the way home so I figured that you were trying to figure out a way to get out of this.” Blair said.

“Blair, do you need a knock up side the head or something?” Jim asked.

The two men walked upstairs, and Jim sat on the bed.

“Don’t tell me you’re not angry.  I know anger when I see it.”

“Chief, I am angry but not at you.  Never at you, baby.  I love you.” Jim said and pulled Blair onto the bed with him.  They just held on to each other for the longest time and finally Jim said, “Want to go back downstairs and dance?”

“Yeah, I’d like that.  We’ll put some good music on and we’ll dance and hold each other.” Blair said, getting up from the bed.

The phone rang and Blair looked and saw that it was Simon and picked it up.  “Hi, Simon.”

“Sandburg, no one called me back.  How's your mom?”

“She’s not good, Simon.  She’s overdosed on some type of drug and is in a catatonic state.  The doctors think that she might stay that way.” Blair said.

“I’m sorry to hear that, Sandburg.  I was hoping that she’d get better and you’d be a happy family again.”

“Thank you, sir. No happy families here. Far from it. Well, I’ll see you tomorrow.  We’ll be back in then.” Blair said.

“How's Jim doing? “ Simon asked.

“Why do you ask that, Simon?” Blair asked, wondering why he’d want to know about Jim when it was his mom that was in the hospital.

“Well, Jim told me he felt like it was his fault.  I don’t want him blaming himself.  You keep him in line, you hear?” Simon said and then both men said goodbye and hung up.

Blair looked over and saw Jim looking at the floor.  “Jim, you told Simon you blamed yourself?”

“I might have said something like that. I mean, it’s your mom, for god's sake.  I feel like such an asshole.  I’d give anything to have my mom around and I feel like I took yours away.” Jim said sadly.

“Jim, I don’t want you to feel that way.  Promise you won’t think about that again.”

“Blair, I can’t promise that.  Because of me, your mom's in a mental hospital. Tell me you don’t hold something against me?”

“Jim, the only thing that pisses me off about it is that you slept with her.  But you and I both know you didn’t have much choice in that.  Now that we know about the drug it even makes it easier if anything.”

“I disagree, Blair.  I think that your mom was taken with me and she flipped out because I treated her badly.”

“Oh man, I’m going to have to slug you pretty soon.  You can be such a moron. I hate that. Did you smack my mom around?”

“Of course not.” Jim said adamantly.

“Did you tell her that you loved her?” Blair asked.

“No, but she thought that I did.  Why would she think that?” Jim asked him with such raw pain in his voice that Blair’s heart was breaking.

“Jim, do you miss your mom?”

“Of course I do.  I’ll never know what it would be like to talk to my mom and I’ve taken that away from you, too.”

“Man, you have to give yourself a break here.  It’s not your fault.  You know that.  I know that.  Hell, Naomi knew it.  Even out of it she knew better.  She was drugged up.  That’s what the reason is, Jim.  Nothing else.  I’m sorry that your mom left you when you were 10.  I’m sorry that you still miss her.  But life goes on Jim.  As it will for us.”

Blair saw the tears rolling down Jim’s face and kissed him hard and said, “I want to know what you have to say now.”

Just as Jim was going to answer him, the phone rang and Blair picked it up saying, “What?”

“Mr. Sandburg?” Doctor Mason said.

“Yeah, this is Blair Sandburg.  Who's this?”

“I’m Doctor Mason from the Mental Health Care Facility.  I’m calling to let you know that your mother has woken up from the state she was in.  She has been asking for you.”

“Would you tell her that I’ll come by in the morning and I’ll see her then?  How is she, doc?”

“She has not improved much.  She’s still living in a place that isn’t real life. She talks about things like they are still happening.  She asked for Jim Ellison, too.”

“Did she say why?” Blair asked nervously.

“She said they were getting married and she wanted him by her side for all of this.  She then said she was getting a lawyer to get her out. Are you aware of this, Mr. Sandburg?” Doctor Mason asked.

“No, she hasn’t got a lawyer as far as I know.  But she still sounds out of it.  I think she's lost touch with reality. What do you think?” Blair asked.

“I totally agree.  She’s going to be in here for a good long while.  We’ll see if we can’t help her but I would strongly advise you to not let Mr. Ellison come here until much later.”

“Okay, I’ll tell him that. Thank you for calling, Doctor.” Blair said and then hung up the phone.  He looked over at Jim and saw the damage the phone call had done to him.

“Jim, don’t even start.  I mean it.  It’s not your fault.  She’s awake.  They might be able to fix things for her.  With therapy, she might get better.  Let’s keep looking at the bright side.”

“Blair, do you think you’re not going to have hard feelings about this?  Now who's being unrealistic?” Jim asked quietly.

“I’m not being unrealistic.  I’m a man in love and I want you to stop this now.  I want you to hold me.  I want you to tell me you love me.  Then I want to do the same thing for you.” Blair said, almost screaming.

“I can’t believe how you think this will all just go away.” Jim said.

“It will if we work on it, Jim, but not if you keep this attitude up.  Now knock it off.  I want to hear the I love you stuff.”

“I do love you, Blair. More than you’ll ever know.” Jim said, not looking Blair in the eyes.

“If you really love me you’ll take me in your arms, you’ll kiss me and tell me again looking me in the eyes.” Blair said calmly.

Jim grabbed Blair, hugged him to his own body and looked him in the eye and said, “I love you, baby.  I love you so much.”

“Now that’s what I wanted to hear, Jim.  I love you, too.  Nothing's going to break us up or tear us apart.  Do you understand me?”

“Yes, I’m beginning to.” Jim said, smiling.

“We’ll take one thing at a time.  We’ll work everything out.  Don’t you worry about any of it.” Blair said.

“I’m going to go and see my mother once a week so that you won’t suffer such guilt.  I’ll try to work things out in her therapy.  This is my problem, Jim.  I’ll work it out.”

“All right, I think we might need to go for some therapy, too.” Jim suggested.

“Wait a minute!  Is this Jim Ellison, my love, my partner, my friend that just suggested therapy?” Blair asked, trying not to laugh.

“Very funny, Sandburg. I mean it.  We both need it, don’t you think?” Jim asked.

“Yeah, I think we do.  I’m just really glad I’m not going to have to drag you kicking and screaming.” Blair said, smiling again.

“We’ll work things out.  You are right, Chief.  I believe you.” Jim said.

“Jim, change your clothes.  We’re going out.” Blair said quickly.

Giving Blair an odd look, he said, “Where to?”

“I’m taking you out for more romancing.  You really need it.  How does dinner and dancing sound? Get ready.”

Jim started changing his clothes and said, “Chief, we need to talk more.”

“We’ll talk some other time, Jim.  Right now, I want to eat dinner and dance with you.”

Jim moved up into Blair’s arms and let him hold him as Blair said, “God, I love you so much, baby.”

“Thank god!  That’s all I have to say.” Jim said.

“Get the lead out, Jim.” Blair said, waiting by the front door by this time.

As the two men walked out the door both new that there were many things they would have to discuss later.  But later worked tonight.  Neither of them wanted to discuss anything now.

This time Blair drove the truck and said, “Jim, I’m going to make sure that you never feel unloved again.  Okay?”

“Yeah, that’s more than okay with me.” Jim answered.

When they came to a red light, they leaned into each other’s body and kissed until the light turned and the honking started.  Blair said, “We really need one of those bumper stickers that says, ‘Keep Honking, I’m reloading.’ “

Jim laughed hard as they drove off and knew that things would work out.  Jim also knew that he was going to make Blair’s life as wonderful as possible.  He had to make some things up to his love.  Thankfully, they had the rest of their lives.
