Jim and Blair

He's The One

Ramblin Rose

Another night out with all the guys and gals from Major Crime.  Not that Blair was complaining, but he’d like to have some kind of a love life, too.  As it was, he had none.  But that might have to do with the fact that he only wanted one person in his life.  Too bad that Jim didn’t feel the same way.  In fact, Jim was starting to see someone in Vice and they seemed to be getting serious.  Why couldn’t he do anything the easy way.  Why go after his very male roommate and want him?

They were all sitting there watching the game, drinking and laughing, as the door opened and Jim’s face lit up and Blair wanted to slap that look right off of his face.  It was Chris, the woman from Vice.  She was gorgeous.  Tall and blond with green eyes.  What was not to like?  Blair talked to her a couple of times and she didn’t like Blair any more than he did her.  For some reason, they hated each other.

Chris walked up to Jim and kissed him hard and long.  Everyone was making the sounds in the background of two people kissing.   They’re so mature, now I know why I hang out with all of them, Blair thought sarcastically.  Jim pulled away from Chris and his face was red.  Jim was pretty shy about showing things in public.  So, he wasn’t used to Chris’s advances quite yet.

Brown took Blair home because Jim took off with Chris.  He didn’t even ask Blair if he had a way home.  Blair was past pissed off.  He suddenly decided that he was going to make a play for Jim. Now that he had made that decision, he felt better.  He would be able to sleep... finally.

When Blair got up in the morning, he knew that Jim was back in his bed because he could hear him moving around up there.  Good, now I just need to decide how to tell him.

When Jim walked down the stairs, he looked really tired and he didn’t look that happy, either.  What was going on?  Jim should be happy.  Right?  Well, it's time to do something before you lose your courage, Blair thought.

Jim came out of the shower and Blair had a nice breakfast sitting on the table.  Jim looked over at Blair and said, “Thanks, Chief, but I’m not really that hungry.”

Blair’s face just fell as he saw Jim climb back up the stairs.  Blair followed him up knowing he needed to see if he was sick or something.  When he got up there, Jim and Chris were lying in bed together.  If looks could kill, Blair would be dead from the look he was getting from Chris.  “Sorry, Jim, I didn’t know you had company.” Blair said as he walked down the stairs.

“It’s okay, Chief.” Jim called down the stairs.

Chris said, “no, it’s not all right, Jim.  I don’t want him walking in on us.”

“Chris, he didn’t know we were both up here.  Don’t make a big thing out of this.” Jim pleaded.

“So you’re saying that when I’m not here he just walks into your room whenever he pleases?” Chris complained.

“Sure, he can.  Just like I walk into his room whenever I want to. Why wouldn’t we?”

“Jim, I don’t know how to tell you this but he’s a fag.” Chris said angrily.

Jim pulled away from her and said, “shut up!  Don’t say that about Sandburg.”

“Jim, I’m telling you, everyone knows it but you.  He stares at your ass when you bend over, he watches your ass when you’re walking away, this man's obsessed with your ass.”

“I can’t believe this.  And you decided to tell me now, why?” Jim asked with a tone of annoyance in his voice.

“Because everyone at the station talks about it.  They make fun of Sandburg all the time.”

Jim got out of bed and started to get dressed.  Chris watched him and said, “where are you going, Jim?”

“I have to think, Chris.  I’ve got to figure this out and what to do about it.”

In the meantime, downstairs, Blair was in his room, his heart pounding wildly because he heard every word that Chris had said.  She was sure to say it loud enough to let it reach Blair’s ears.  He was heartbroken because, after all, Jim never stuck up for him once.  So, this answered all of Blair’s questions.  He now knew how Jim would feel about a man being attracted to him.

Blair heard the front door close and he then heard Chris coming down the stairs.  She knocked on his door and said, “Sandburg, I need to talk to you.”

Opening the door, Blair walked out into the kitchen and said, “what do you want?”

“I want you to promise that you’ll stop embarrassing Jim at the station.  Word has gotten around and everyone knows that you have a thing for him.  I had to tell him, Sandburg.”

“You didn’t have to tell him.  You could have come to me first but you want Jim to throw me out.”

“Well, he’s a damn fool if he doesn’t.”

“Well, you don’t know how Jim feels about me.”

“Oh, Sandburg, you're such an idiot.  Do you honestly think that Jim will let you stay here knowing how everyone feels about it at the station?”

“Jim doesn’t care about what people think, Chris.  Not everyone worries about what people think or say about them.”

“Well, if Jim knows what’s good for him, he’ll kick your ass out of here before the guys start taking it out on you.”

“Are you threatening me, Chris?”

“Take it however you want.  All I know is I’m looking out for Jim first.”

“I can’t stop being in love with someone just because you want me to.  I'll never touch him you can be certain of that but I still love him.  I can’t help it.”

“You are such a sick fuck, Sandburg.  Jim would be knocking the shit out of you by now if he had to hear this shit.”

“You’re so wrong.  Jim knows that I love him. I’ve loved him for years.  It’s not like it’s new.  He knows and he doesn’t hit me.”

“Sandburg, you’re confusing love with like.  He likes you a lot.  He talks about you all the time as in a fondness for a brother or something.  But other than that, no, he wouldn’t want you in any sexual way.  He’s not perverted.”

“Get out of my home, Chris.”

“It won’t be your home for much longer, you little fucking fag.”

“That’s fine, but while it still is, I want you out.” Having said this, he stormed into his room and slammed the bedroom door.  Blair curled up on his bed and wondered where in the hell he would be living tomorrow and what kind of a job he could get on such short notice.

Jim was standing outside his front door.  He hadn’t left.  He was thinking of what to do when he heard Chris go down and talk to Blair.  Needless to say, Jim overheard every word that was said between the two of them. He was leaning against the doorframe wondering what the fuck he was going to do when Chris opened the door.

Jim stood upright and said, “I don’t want to see you again, Chris.  Don’t ever come to my home again.”

Jim walked into the loft and slammed the door on her face.  Leaving a very pissed off Chris in the hallway.  She screamed, “Oh, don’t think I won’t tell everyone about you, Ellison.  You fag lover.”

Jim walked into the room, threw his keys into the basket and then opened Blair’s door.  Blair’s heart rate was entirely too high and Jim needed to calm him down.

Sitting on Blair’s bed, Jim said, “Chief, I’m not making you move out.  I’m not mad at you.  So calm down and breathe easy... deep breaths.  All right?  I just told Chris to take a hike and never come here again. I’m really sorry for what she said, Blair.”

Jim could see Blair’s shoulders shaking and knew that Blair was crying but he had never heard anyone cry without some type of noise.  There was none with Blair.

“Chief, come on, turn over and talk to me.” Jim pleaded.

“Jim, I just want to be left alone.  I really felt like I’d found the one for my life to be complete.  Then I realized that you’d never want me.  But for me, you’re the one.”

“Well, shows you how much you know, Chief.  You’re the one for me, too.  I’ve been in love with you for about a year now, but you never seemed interested.  In fact, quite the opposite.  So, I figured I had no chance.”

Blair turned over and looked at Jim to see if he was serious.  He  could see the sexy smile on Jim’s face and jumped into Jim’s arms and this time he was crying loudly.  “Why didn’t you tell me, Jim?  Why?”

“For the same reason you didn’t tell me, Chief.”

“Jim, I want you to know you’re it.  You’re the one.  The only one.”

“Good, because I don’t share.  I love you, Blair.”

“I love you, too, Jim.”

“Wanna go upstairs and show me just how much?”

“Lead the way, Batman, I’ll always follow you.”

Jim laughed as he pulled Blair up off the futon and hugged him until either could hardly breathe.  “Let's go on upstairs and I’ll show you how much I love you, Blair.”

“I love you, Jim.  Now get your ass upstairs.”

Both men laughed as they walked up the stairs.  They had both found their one.  Life was good.

The end.
