Changes of Scenery
Ramblin Rose
When Jim came home he was in a foul mood. Nothing was going right
and he wasn't really in the mood for his 'everything's going to be all right'
guide. In fact, he was sick to death of him. Jim was sick of Blair
telling him what to do, when to do it and why he should be doing it.
Something was going to have to change.
Blair came walking down from upstairs, from 'their' room and smiled.
Jim wanted to slug him. Blair saw the grimace on Jim's face and said,
"What's wrong, Jim?"
"Nothing's wrong, Sandburg." Jim yelled, "I just don't feel like being a
sweetsy, sweetsy tonight. Got a problem with that?"
"No," Blair replied quietly, "no problem at all. Just sit down and relax
and I'll get you something to eat."
"Shut the fuck up, Sandburg." Jim screamed. "I can get my own fucking food.
What is it with you? You want me to be totally dependant on you?"
"Fine," Blair said, "get your own then. I'll be upstairs doing some
work on the computer."
"Sandburg," Jim said, "I really would like to sleep in my bed tonight and
would like it to be alone."
"Fine, Jim," Blair said with pain in his voice, "I'll just go and get my
things and move back into the room downstairs."
"That's fine for tonight," Jim said coldly, "but I really would like you
to get your own place. You're stifling me. I don't like it. Things
have to change."
"Jim," Blair said with tears rolling down his face, "what's wrong here?
What happened today to make you feel this way?"
"It's not just today," Jim said, "it's been every day. I'm just sick
of it all. You have to give me my space back. And I'm tired of
being observed all the time. You treat me like a fucking lab rat. This
is fucking, great, Sandburg," Jim yelled, "quit the crying. Won't do
any good. I'm used to your tricks. You get sad, and I give in.
Well, not any longer. Get in the real world. Find a place and make it soon."
Blair walked up the stairs crying softly, grabbing all of his belongings,
taking them downstairs and lying on his bed. What the fuck was going
on? He needed to call Simon and see what was up. Something had
to have happened to Jim at work. Maybe something he ate or drank.
God, Blair could only hope that this was the case.
Blair finally fell asleep and when he woke up, he had overslept. "Shit,"
Blair said to himself.
Trying to hurry as fast as he could, he got to the bullpen and walked in
and Simon said, "It was nice that you could grace us with your presence. Want
to tell me why you missed the meeting this morning? Your partner had no idea
where you were. Keep things in your love life down a little, Sandburg,
so that it doesn't interfere with your job. Are you listening, Sandburg?"
Blair has broken in half after Simon had said his partner didn't know where
he was. God, this wasn't getting any better. It was like a nightmare
from hell. And he had no one to talk to.
Sitting down at his desk, Blair pulled his paperwork out and started to
get it done. Jim got a call and got up to go and Blair said, "Jim,
where are we going?"
"We aren't going anywhere, Sandburg." Jim replied, "Conner's going on this
one with me."
"Fuck, fuck, fuck." Blair said under his breath. Something was going
on. Why didn't Blair know what it was?
He had to talk to someone. Who? Jim walked over to him before he and
Conner left and Jim leaned down and said, "There's nothing wrong, Sandburg,
so don't go whining to Simon about it. Do I make myself clear?"
"Crystal clear, Jim." Blair said sadly.
Jim turned and walked out of the room and Blair just went back to what he
was doing on the computer and tried to fight the urge to scream and cry at
the same time. His cell phone rang and he picked it up and said, "Sandburg."
"Sandburg," Jim said, "don't forget about looking at the ads on my desk
for a place. There were quite a few in there that you could afford.
Check them out. I expect you to be out in a week. And this time,
I mean a real week, seven days."
"Okay, I'll take care of it," Blair said. Hanging up his phone, he
walked into the restroom. Joel had watched the two men all morning and
knew something was wrong. Now he watched as Blair walked out of the
room with such a look of pain on his face it was unbelievable. Joel
couldn't do anything else; he followed Blair into the restroom. He
could hear soft crying.
Joel knocked on the door of the stall that Blair was in and said, "Blair,
I'd really like to talk to you."
"Joel, thank you for caring, but I really need to be alone." Blair said.
"I'm not leaving," Joel said adamantly, "so you had best come out here and
talk to me."
"Joel," Blair began, "I need to find a new place to live and I'm just depressed.
That's all."
Joel watching Blair closely knew that there was more going on, but decided
not to push him, said, "Blair, let's go get your things and you can move into
my spare room?"
Blair looked up, smiled and said, "You wouldn't mind?"
"Not at all, Blair." Joel said, "In fact, I'd like the company."
"Thanks, Joel." Blair said. "Could we move it now? If we get
a day off from Simon?"
"Let's go and talk to him right now." Joel said, "Everything will work out
okay, Blair, you wait and see."
As they went in to talk to Simon, Blair felt like his heart was breaking
in half and didn't think he'd ever heal up. Jim didn't want him anymore.
God, how could Blair live with that?
When Jim got back to the precinct he noticed that Blair was nowhere around
and he also saw that all the paperwork was piled on Jim's desk.
What the fuck's going on here? Jim wondered. He thinks that because
I yell at him, he doesn't have to do any of the work. Well, fuck that
shit!
He walked over to Simon's office and knocked on the door. Simon said,
"Come in, Jim."
As Jim walked in he saw a concerned look on Simon's face. Shit!
Blair must have told him. "Sir, do you know where my partner is?"
"Cut the shit, Ellison." Simon said, "you could care less where your partner
is, as we all saw this morning. You're just pissed off that the paperwork
isn't done. Right?"
"Sir," Jim said angrily, "this is no one's business. This is my private
life and no one should know about it."
"Well, Ellison," Simon continued, "then you shouldn't have brought it into
the bullpen. As it is, your partner and Joel took the day off so he
could move out of the loft. I don't know what the hell is going on,
but I do know one thing, I've never seen Sandburg so sad. What are you
doing? And do you know what you're doing to him?"
"I'm not doing anything." Jim said stonily, "I'm tired of having a roommate,
sir, do you have a problem with that? I told him one week and he's been
there over four years. I think a move isn't that big of a thing."
"Get out of here and file your reports." Simon said, giving Jim his best
evil eye look.
Jim gave it back just as good as he left Simon's office. He went over
and asked Conner, "Could you help me with this paperwork so I can leave before
I die?"
Conner looked at him and said, "Do it yourself, Ellison." Storming
off, Jim was getting more pissed off by the minute.
Jim started working on all of the paperwork and found that he got almost
all of it done. Even Simon would be impressed with him. He needed
to get done because he had a date and was meeting some friends at the country
club.
Finishing his reports, he took them into Simon's office and set them on
his desk. Simon had left about an hour ago. Now, he could get
out of there and get something going with Angela.
He went down to the locker room, stripped, stepped into the shower and felt
like a new person in no time. He walked back out drying himself and
got his clean clothes out of the bag. He had about one hour before he
picked Angela up for the party for his dad.
As Jim was getting dressed, Blair walked into the locker room. He
walked over to Jim and said, "Okay, Jim, no one's here, we need to talk."
"No, we don't." Jim said, trying to get by.
"Yes, we do." Blair said. "I'm not leaving, and neither are you, until
we talk this out."
"Sandburg, what do you want to hear?" Jim said coldly, "You want to hear
that I lost my head and slept with you in a moment of weakness? Well,
I did. And I now realize it was weakness. I want to be with women
again. I like women and I've got a date, so if you don't mind."
As he shoved by Blair, Blair said, "Tell me you never loved me."
"Sandburg," Jim said, "I never loved you. I don't know what I was
doing? Okay? I'm very confused, but I do know that I don't love
you. I might be a sentinel and you want to study me, but I don't have to
be your fucking fag."
Blair looked, as if he had been slapped full force. Why would Jim
say these things? What was going on? What was Blair missing?
He watched Jim walk out of the room with his heart breaking more.
When he got to Angela's house, he picked her up and they headed to the Country
Club for dinner and the dance. She was beautiful. Black hair that
went down to her waist, green eyes that you could die for and Jim was getting
hard just thinking about her.
Angela looked over at Jim and saw the lust in his eyes and said, "Jim, we
can stop somewhere first if you want to?"
Jim pulled into a nice hotel, asking Angela if this was all right, and then
opened the door for her. They went into the hotel and got the key and
went to their room.
Once in the room, Jim started kissing her and tasting all the things he
needed to taste to get him going. She pushed him back on the bed and
said, "Jim, let me look at my prize."
Jim wasn't sure he liked the sound of that but decided he didn't care. He
was so hard that he had to do something. She and Jim started pulling
his clothes off and she started kissing him all over. She got on top
of him and started kissing him again. Moving back down to his cock, she noticed
Jim was making no sounds whatsoever and this worried Angela a little.
After all, she had wanted to win this prize with more than this.
Lying on the bed, Jim was thinking of the lips around his cock, he pictured
Blair's face. He kept shaking his head as if trying to get rid of a
thought, which is what he was trying to do. As she started sucking harder
and harder, he said, "Angela, I'm going to come if you don't stop."
"Come for me, Jim," Angela said. She continued doing what she was
doing and Jim came, but what was bothering him was the fact that he couldn't
get Blair out of his head the whole time. Fuck, fuck, fuck.
Angela waited a short while for Jim to rest and then she took his cock back
in her mouth again and when he got hard, she sat on his cock and started moving.
Jim had forgotten how great this felt. Jesus, she felt good.
He opened his eyes and looked into her face and saw Blair crying. Shit,
shit, shit. Jim closed his eyes again and got back into what they were
doing. Jim started lifting up higher and higher and she came loudly
calling his name and he came soon after, but he didn't say a word. Not
even a sound. Like he came and went.
Angela wasn't a happy camper. She said, "Jim, didn't you enjoy this?"
"I just came twice in an hour, what do you think?" Jim asked with annoyance
in his voice. "I'm quiet when I make love. I'm sorry if I didn't make
you feel good."
She started smiling and said, "Oh, Jim, you did make me feel good.
Oh so good. Now let's get dressed and get to the dance, what do you
say?"
"Fine," Jim said. Getting out of bed he got dressed and turned around
and she was watching him oddly. He said, "What?"
"Jim," Angela said, "will you call me your angel? I've never let anyone
call me that, but I'd let you."
"No, Angela, I can't." Jim said. "I hate nicknames, so let's keep
this from getting all mushy." Jim finished dressing and noticed
she was taking her time. Finally he said, "I'm sorry. I'm just tired
tonight." But Jim found himself wondering if he was missing something
here. They slept together once, why would he call her angel.
Smiling, Angela said, "So you aren't mad at me?"
Jim leaned down and started kissing her and said, "Never."
They left the hotel and went to the country club and met up with a few people
they knew. Jim's dad was there, of course, and he said, "Jimmy, who
is this lovely woman?"
"Dad, this is Angela." Jim said, "Angela, my dad, William Ellison."
"I'm so glad to finally meet you," William said, "Jimmy has told me all
about you."
"Dad," Jim said flatly, "this isn't the person I was talking about two months
ago."
"Sorry," William said to both of them. "At any rate, Angela I'm very glad
to meet you."
William asked Jim, "How is Sandburg doing? I haven't seen him in awhile."
Jim glared at his father and said, "He's fine, he doesn't live at the loft
any longer."
"Really?" William asked, "So what's new at work, Jimmy?"
"Dad," Jim said, "I'm going to go and dance, we'll talk after awhile."
As soon as Jim left to dance with Angela, he went to the cloak room to get
his cell phone and called Simon Banks.
When Simon answered William said, "Captain Banks, this is William Ellison.
I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions."
"Sure, go ahead," Simon said, "what do you want to know?"
"How long has Mr. Sandburg not lived in the loft?" Mr. Ellison asked, "And
how long has Jimmy been seeing this Angela person?"
"Back up, Mr. Ellison," Simon said, "first of all, this is none of your
business. Why would you call and ask me? Your son has, no doubt,
talked to you, ask him."
"Captain Banks," Mr. Ellison said, "I would ask him, but I don't think I'm
talking to my son. He's like another person. I'm very worried about
him. Have you noticed anything at work?"
"Yes, we all have." Simon said, "But this is life, Mr. Ellison. He's
decided what to do with his life and that's what he's going to do."
"Captain Banks," William said, "I'm sorry for bothering you. Thank
you for your time."
When William went back out, he sat at the table with his son and girlfriend.
Why was this bothering William, he wondered?
After dinner was over, William said, "Jimmy, could I speak with you for
a moment?"
"Sure, Dad," Jim said, getting up. "What do you need?"
"Jim, what's going on?" William said, "I know that something's wrong and
I know you wouldn't want to hurt your guide. Now tell me what's happening."
"Dad," Jim said quietly. "Nothing's going on. I just got sick
and tired of having him around me all the time. So let's drop it and
get back to the dance."
As Jim walked away, William knew he was going to have to do some checking
tomorrow. Something was very wrong with his son.
When Jim left the Country Club, he took Angela home and she invited him
up to her apartment. He figured why not? He ended up spending
the night. When Jim awoke the next morning, he could feel the body
next to him, but knew it wasn't the right body. Knew it wasn't the
right smell. He closed his eyes and tried to get his mind off of Blair.
This had to stop.
He slipped out of bed and got dressed. He left a note for Angela and
said he'd call her later on. He didn't know if he would or not.
He left her apartment and went straight to the loft so he could shower and
dress before he was late for work.
Once Jim got to the station, he saw the looks from everyone and wondered
what he had done now. He went and sat down at his desk and Simon yelled,
"Ellison."
Jim jumped up and quickly entered Simon's office. Blair was sitting
on a chair in the far end of the room. Jim hadn't even known he was
there. Jim realized that his senses were off line and he hadn't even
bothered to notice before. He looked at Simon and said, "Sir?"
"Can the crap, Ellison." Simon shouted as he shut the door. "Now,
I don't know what the hell is going on, but I'm going to give you two some
time together to work this all out. I'm not putting Sandburg with any
other officer and I'm not putting you with Conner. So, I'm going to
leave, you're going to have some time and I'm not coming back in until you
both call me in and there are some changes made. Do you understand?"
As Simon waited for their reply he went and shut all of the blinds on his
windows, so they would have some privacy.
"Yes, sir," Blair said, "we'll figure out something, sir."
"Simon," Jim said angrily, "you can't make us sit in here until we get along.
That isn't in my job description. So, I'm leaving right now."
Simon shoved Jim back into a chair and said, "Sit down, detective, and get
used to sitting, because I'll put you on desk duty for the rest of your life
if I have to. Do you get it now, Ellison?"
"Yes, sir." Jim said as he glared at his friend.
"I'll be back when there's something to report."
Having said that, Simon walked out of his office and slammed the door.
Jim looked out one of the slats in the window and saw Simon sit down at Jim's
desk and rub his face with his hands. He could tell Simon was tired.
Jim did feel a little guilty about Simon.
"All right," Jim said, "I'll start. First of all, why did you have
to whine to Simon and make this into a big thing at the station? Everyone's
mad at me and I have to work with these people."
"Fuck you, Ellison." Blair said. "I can say anything I want.
But as far as that goes, I didn't say a word to anyone. I guess they
could just tell from the shitty way you were treating me. Oh, and let's
not forget, I moved into Joel's house."
They continued arguing and they were getting nowhere. Blair said,
"So was she worth it? Did you find out you liked that a lot more?
Are you a happy man, now?"
"Yeah," Jim said, "I loved fucking her. She was great. And it
felt great. I realized that I had really missed it. For some
reason, I let the Sentinel thing take hold of me and lead me along.
I'm not doing that anymore."
"So," Blair said, "You're just shutting down your sentinel abilities?
Pretending they don't exist?"
"Yes, I am." Jim said flatly, "and I'm thrilled to be rid of them."
Blair got up and went over to where Jim was sitting and said, "Jim, tell
me you don't miss this." Blair kissed Jim's ear, then he kissed his neck,
and kept kissing different parts of his face. Jim was leaning back into
the chair and was moaning quietly. Blair looked down and saw that Jim
was getting hard. So, that answered one of Blair's questions.
It wasn't Blair. Something else was going on.
Blair started undoing Jim's belt and Jim started to stop him but Blair was
too fast. He shoved Jim's hands aside and got his pants undone.
He had Jim lift up and pulled his pants down and then his boxers followed.
Jim wasn't fighting him. He was just lying there with his eyes closed.
Blair took Jim's cock into his mouth and Jim started rubbing his hands in
Blair's hair. Then Jim started pushing his hips up to meet Blair's welcoming
mouth. Oh God, Jim thought, I missed this mouth. Shit!
Jim finally opened his eyes and looked down and saw Blair looking up at
him with Jim's cock in his mouth and that was more than he could take.
Jim put his hand across his mouth as he came. So what came out was a
really loud noise, but nothing anyone would be able to understand. Blair
pulled Jim's cock out of his mouth and said, "Jim, I want to fuck you now.
What do you think of that?"
Jim looked down and him and said, "No."
"I see," Blair said, "you'll let me suck you off but you won't let me fuck
you. Figures. You have an attack of conscience and I'm the one
that doesn't get it anymore. Tell me, Ellison, do you tell everyone
you fuck that you love him or her. Did you tell this woman last night
that you loved her? Did you think up nicknames for her? Did you
fuck her all night long because you couldn't get enough of her?"
Jim pushed away from Blair, stood up and got his pants back where they belonged.
Face turning red, he said, "Things have changed, Sandburg."
"Jim," Blair said, "I just got done sucking you off, tell me how that has
changed things?"
"Fuck." Jim said, "It's not going to happen again. Sandburg, I can't
do this. Really, I can't. Couldn't we just work together?
Not sleep together, not suck each other off, and just work?"
"Yeah, Jim, we can." Blair said sadly. "I'll tell Simon that we worked it
out. Do I ever get a real reason as to why you don't love me anymore?"
"Sandburg, please." Jim said, "Could we just drop it? I don't want
to do this today."
As Blair opened the door, Simon looked and saw the sadness in those eyes
and knew that things were not fixed. He called Simon in. As Simon
entered he noticed that Jim wouldn't look at either of them.
"Okay," Simon said, "What has changed? Looks the same as when I left
an hour ago."
"Simon," Blair said, "We've decided that we aren't going to be lovers anymore,
but we'll be partners. We make a good team. So, we'll be working
together. No one'll notice a change."
Simon looked over at Jim and said, "Jim, you have something to say?"
"No, sir." Jim said. "We'll keep our private lives private, sir."
With a look of disgust, Simon said, "Both of you get out of here. Get some
work done."
Jim and Blair walked into the bullpen and went to their desks and sat down.
They got a call and went out on it. They didn't talk, but things were
going to be all right. Well, this is what Jim kept telling himself anyhow.
While they were out on a call, he was checking for some clues at a scene
and Blair realized that Jim didn't have his senses. He was acting like
a normal detective. This might be the problem, Blair thought.
Maybe the only reason he was fucking me was because he was the Sentinel
and I was the Guide. Shit!
Once back in the truck, Blair said, "Jim, how long have your senses been
gone?"
"For about a month now." Jim said, lying. "I didn't want to bother you."
"You are such a fucking liar, Jim." Blair said as he looked out the window.
"What do you mean?" Jim asked.
Blair looked over at Jim and said, "I need to talk to you, pull up to this
motel and don't worry tough guy, I'm not going to suck you off. I want
to talk to you without anyone watching us."
They pulled into the motel and Blair jumped out and went and got a room
and walked to the door of said room. Jim drove the truck over to the
parking spot and pulled in. He got out of the truck slowly, not knowing
what the hell Blair had planned for him.
As he walked through the door, Blair grabbed him and before he even knew
what was going on, Blair had him in handcuffs and attached them to the headboard
and locked them.
Jim said, "Sandburg, enough. Now let me up."
"Jim," Blair said, "I'm not letting you up until you tell me something true.
So far you haven't said one thing that made any sense. I need to know
and you're going to tell me."
Jim started struggling with the cuffs, yelling at Blair to let him out of
them before he yells for help.
Blair started laughing and said, "Yeah, go ahead, tough guy, the police
will love seeing this." As he said that he pointed to Jim cuffed to the bed.
"Now," Blair said, "I want you to start talking to me, fast. And this time
I want the truth."
Jim started struggling again and then he just closed his eyes and tried
to shut this whole thing out of his mind.
Blair smiled at the man before him. Jim thought he was so tough but
he was afraid of Blair. And Blair was not giving up until he had some answers.
He ran his hands across Jim's chest feeling Jim's nipples harden.
Jim said, "Sandburg, don't do this. I mean it. It would be rape,
do you understand?"
"I'm not doing anything," Blair replied, "I'm just touching. I don't
plan on doing anything. You're safe with me."
Blair continued to rub on Jim's body and saw the reaction in Jim's cock.
He was very hard. Why? If Jim didn't like Blair, love him or anything
else, why would this turn him on? Blair went over and stood next to the bed
and started taking his clothes off. Once he was naked he started stroking
himself and Blair kept getting closer to the bed and Jim smelled him.
Blair could see that Jim's senses were back online. Blair kept stroking
harder and harder and Jim started inching his way over to Blair till his
mouth was right under Blair's cock. Then Jim lifted his head up enough
so that he could taste Blair. Once he had Blair's cock in his mouth,
he started sucking hard. Blair was going to come very soon. Blair
knew that Jim wanted him; he just had to show Jim.
As Blair came close to the edge, Jim scooted up farther so he could take
Blair further into his mouth and Blair came shouting, "Jim."
Jim lay back on the bed and rested, and Blair looked over at Jim and saw
the tears coming out of Jim's eyes. Jim wasn't making a sound.
Wasn't moving either. Silent tears, no more, no less.
"All right, Jim," Blair said, "I'm not taking anymore of this. What's
going on? Why were you afraid to love me? I have to know Jim.
If I know the truth, I can go on."
Blair climbed up on the bed and undid the cuffs, suddenly feeling terrible
for doing that. Jim just lay there looking at the ceiling. He
wasn't talking or moving. Just staring.
Blair got on top of Jim and said, "Jim, please hold me. Please."
Jim moved his arms and found themselves around Blair's body. He started
rubbing Blair's back and ass. He was getting hard. God, how he
loved this man and no one was going to stop him.
"Blair, if I tell you, will you let it drop?" Jim asked.
"Jim," Blair said, "you know I can't do that. Depending on what type
of news you tell me, I might have to kick some ass. I don't know yet."
"I've been approached," Jim said, "by some people who work for the Police
Commissioner. I've been ordered to stop our living arrangements and
any other lifestyle. If not, they'll separate us or out us at work."
Blair looked over at Jim and said, "So?"
Jim said, "Blair, it isn't that easy. The Commissioner is best friends with
my father and he has threatened to tell my father things. They've been watching,
they have pictures of us on the balcony and even from inside the loft.
Remember that time in the parking lot when it was empty? Well, it wasn't
completely empty, it seems. So, the Commissioner set the date up for
tonight with his niece, Angela, to see if I was really into men or not. It
was like I had something to prove and I swear to you, I couldn't get your
face out of my mind the whole time. "
"Jim, you don't strike me as a coward." Blair said angrily. "I can't
believe you're letting them have this much control. What the fuck were
you thinking of? And while I'm on the subject, I'm going to fucking
kick your ass for sleeping with her. It's not you thinking of my face I was
worried about when you were fucking her."
Blair pulled away from Jim and slugged his face as hard as he could.
Jim just lay there and took it. Finally, Blair stopped hitting Jim and
slid back on top of him.
"Jim," Blair said, "You have to tell me what's going on. What are
we going to do? I don't want this to be our life. Sneaking around
and not being able to touch each other."
"Blair," Jim said with sadness in his voice, "I can't do this to my dad.
It'll kill him. It would be bad enough to find out about us, but to
see pictures. Blair, do you know what that would do to him?"
"I don't fucking care, I guess." Blair said and got off of Jim and the bed.
He walked over to the window and looked out into the darkness. When
had it gotten dark? How long had they been there, Blair wondered?
It seemed like they had just gotten there, but they had been talking for a
long time.
Blair walked into the bathroom and took a shower and came out with his clothes
on and Jim was still lying on the bed in the same place. Blair walked
over and said, "Jim, you can go if you want. Do whatever you want.
I can't be with someone that's ashamed of himself, me or what we are."
Jim tried to pull Blair into his arms, but Blair shoved him hard into the
headboard. "Don't touch me," Blair said. "Jim, you'll never touch
me again. Not like this. I'll continue to be your partner but
we'll never be friends again. Not just no more lovers, but I can't be friends
with a coward."
"Blair," Jim said imploringly, "please don't do this. We need to talk
some more. I don't know what to do. But you can't expect me to
just let them show those pictures to my dad, can you? Sandburg, you
have to know enough about family to know that there are certain things that
wouldn't be forgiven."
"That's the difference between the two of us." Blair said, "I don't care
what my mom would say. I could care less. And I wanted to ask
you about coming out to our friends, so I wanted everyone to know. I
love you, I adore you, and I wanted to be with you forever. At least
I did until now. Go and fuck Angela. You seemed to do an okay
job of it since I don't see any pictures around the bullpen."
As Blair walked out the door, Jim just sat there in the dark motel room
wondering what to do. He picked up the phone and called his dad and
said, "Dad, could I come over? I need to talk to you."
Blair took a bus over to Joel's house and when he walked in, he was a wreck.
He was a total mess. He was so upset, but yet, he wasn't mad.
Just broken. Joel pulled Blair into his arms and said him, "Blair, talk
to me about what's going on. It might help."
"Joel," Blair said, "I was in love with Jim." After he said that,
he went into the spare room and Joel could hear sniffling. Joel knocked
on the door and said, "Blair, could I come in?"
"This is your house, man." Blair answered, trying to make it into a joke.
But Joel wasn't having any of it. He put his arm around Blair and
pulled him close and said, "Now fill me in on what's going on."
Blair did just that. He started at the beginning and told Joel the
entire thing and said, "I don't know what I need to do but Jim wants to just
act like we aren't sleeping together. And I guess he also wants me to
share him with women so that the Commissioner won't worry about the two of
us." Then Blair's shoulders started shaking and Joel could hear
very soft
sobbing. Joel had tears rolling down his face. These two men were
two of his closest friends and he was going to help them if it killed them
all.
"Blair," Joel said, "I'm going to go to the precinct and talk to Simon.
I have to report this, it's past just hassling you and Jim. This is
outright harassment, not to mention blackmail."
"Joel," Blair said, "Jim would just die if this got out. Don't you
understand? He's embarrassed about the whole thing. He doesn't want
anyone to know."
"Too bad," Joel said. "I'm going to the office now and I'll see you
later tonight, unless something comes up. You try to sleep and I'll
call if anything happens."
"Simon's going to be so pissed off." Blair said dejectedly, "He'll think
that it's all my fault. God, Jim'll be so embarrassed."
Joel went over to Blair and said, "Tough! He'll get over it. Now go
and rest."
Joel walked out the door, locking it behind him. He went to his car
and headed into the station. He called Simon and asked, "Sir, could
you meet me at the office? I have something very important to tell you."
"This had better be good, Taggert," Simon said. "I'm watching a game."
"Sir," Joel said, "You know I wouldn't bother you at home for no reason."
"Okay," Simon said, "I'll be there in about 15 minutes. See you then.
Goodbye."
Both men were on their way to the station. In the meantime, Jim arrived
at his father's house and was knocking at the door.
When his dad opened the door, he pulled Jim into a hug and said, "Jimmy,
come on in. It's so good to see you. Now tell me what's so important
that it makes you look this scared. Did something happen to Stevie?"
"No, Dad." Jim said hurriedly, "Stevie's fine. I had to talk to you and
it's not going to be a good father son talk. You'll probably never
talk to me again, but I have to tell you ahead of time."
William Ellison sat on the sofa, motioning for Jim to sit and saw the tears
in Jim's eyes. He knew that something major was going to be talked about,
but William really had no clue, and for this reason, he was sad. He
should know more about his son than that.
As Jim sat down next to his dad, he tried to stay calm but found himself
shaking like a leaf. William stood up and said, "Jim, I'm going to get
you a stiff drink and then you can tell me your news."
Jim watched his dad mix a drink and Jim realized that in the last six months
he had been having dinner with his dad once a month and starting to enjoy
his time with him. Now, it would all be lost. His father would
not only hate him, but hate Blair, too. Jim was so sad; he didn't even
know where to begin.
While William was fixing the drink, he was thinking about what it could
be. Could it be he got a woman pregnant? No, not his Jim, he
wasn't even dating anyone. Hadn't been for ages. William kept
asking but Jim kept saying he was too busy. There was only one person
that Jim talked about nonstop and that was Blair Sandburg. Smiling
at his son, he realized what Jim was going to tell him and William wanted
to make it easier on him.
He walked over with the drink and sat next to Jim and didn't say a word
for a moment. "Jim," William said, "I know about you and Sandburg.
I'm fine with that, son."
Jim just stared at this man in his father's body and wondered where the
real William had taken gone. Then Jim couldn't help it, he leaned into his
dad's arms and started softly crying. Jim didn't say anything, just
stayed in his dad's arms. William rubbed Jim's back and rocked him
back and forth. Then Jim took his arms from his side and put them around
his dad and let himself be completely engulfed by his father for the first
time. Jim felt like he was finally home. They stayed this way
for a long while until William said, "Okay, Jimmy, now I want you to tell
me what brought this up and why you're this upset."
So Jim proceeded to tell him what the Police Commission said about the pictures,
about the blackmail and the worst thing that he fucked around on Blair the
night before. The whole time, Jim had his head hanging down in shame.
William pulled his chin up and met Jim' eyes and said, "Jimmy, you go and
kick some ass. Don't worry about this. If they show me pictures,
so be it. It's not the end of the world. I could be seeing pictures
of my dead son. That would be worse. This isn't the worst thing
in the world. I love you, Jimmy."
Jim went back into this man's arms and hugged him so hard and he whispered,
"Dad, I love you, too. God, I do love you. I'm so sorry for all
the years we've missed."
"Jimmy," William said, "Go and take care of this and then we can try to
make up for all this. And speaking of taking care of things, what's
happening with Blair? Where is he?"
"He's over at Joel's." Jim said, "I told him that I couldn't do that to
you and he went to stay with Joel."
"Do you have Joel's address on you?" William asked. "I could go and spend
time with him and tell him not to worry. That would make him feel better.
Or at least I could call and let him know that I like him a lot and hope to
get to know him better soon.
Jim bent over and wrote on a piece of paper, putting both the address and
phone number on the paper. He smiled at his dad and said, "Okay, I'm
off to fight the evil. Take care of him, Dad. He's my life."
"I got that, Jimmy." William said, smiling. He walked Jim to the truck and
watched him drive away. Then he went into his garage, pulled his Lincoln
out and started on his way over to Joel's house. William felt sorry
for Police Commissioner Jefferson. This was going to be a mess when
Jim was done. William found himself smiling at the thought of getting
Jefferson. William had secretly hated that man for years. This
happy thought made his drive over to see Blair sail by.
When William arrived at Joel's home he saw lights on so he knew he wouldn't
be waking Blair up. He walked up to the front door and knocked.
Blair opened the front door and his mouth flew open. Finally finding
his voice, Blair said, "Mr. Ellison? What are you doing here?"
"Can I come in and talk to you?" William asked. "And please, call
me William. I'd prefer that."
"Sorry, sir, come in, please." Blair said, stepping aside for the older
man to walk into Joel's home.
"Now, you're wondering what I'm doing here." William said, "Well, it just
so happens that my son came and saw me tonight and told me all about the two
of you and I came over to talk to you about it."
"Oh god," Blair said as he started to pace. "Sir, I'm so sorry. He
said he wasn't going to tell you. Why did he do that?"
"Because he's a man in love." William said, "And he didn't want to treat
you like you were something to be ashamed of."
"Why aren't you yelling at me?" Blair asked suddenly.
"Because, Blair, I like you." William said. "Jim could've found a
nice woman and settled down, but instead he found a nice man and settled
down. Either way, Jim's happy, so I'm happy."
"Did you tell Jim this?" Blair asked.
"Well, of course I did. Right before I told him to get to the station
and kick some major ass." William said. "Then I asked if I could come
over and talk to you about things and keep you company while he does the paperwork
up for this. He was happy to have me come over." William added.
"William, I'm so glad you came." Blair said very quietly. "Have you
had dinner yet?
"No, I haven't. How about pizza?" William said.
"Sounds great to me," Blair called back as he was heading into the kitchen
for the phone.
As they waited for the pizza to get there, they discovered different things
they had in common other than William's son. William loved museums and
offered to go to any of the showings that Jim didn't want to go to.
Blair was pleased to hear that. They talked about the whole thing.
What had first drawn the two together and why he loved Jim? Blair told
him anything and everything. It was very liberating. William turned
out to be a most understanding person. Blair couldn't believe that
Jim had told him. Blair was so proud of Jim. He wouldn't have
to hate him forever and he told William that he was thinking this.
William smiled and said, "I'm afraid that Jim will be kicking himself for
the rest of his life over this. Blair, he's very upset about that woman.
He knows how badly he hurt you. I hope for both of your sakes, you'll forgive
him and give him a second chance."
"William, I've already forgiven him." Blair said, with a smile on his face.
"All he had to do was say that he loved me and his telling you screams 'I
love you' to me."
William started laughing and said, "I think you're right, Blair."
The pizza arrived and they ate dinner and drank a couple of beers.
Once they were finished, Blair said, "William, would you like to stay in the
room I'm in? I'm sure Joel wouldn't mind at all."
William said, "I'd rather take you and some of your things over to my house
and we can stay there. How does that sound?"
"Sounds good to me," Blair said as he got up and walked into the bedroom
to pack his things. Blair couldn't believe how this night was turning
out. He'd never dreamed that Jim would do this. He'd really believed
that Jim was a coward and didn't really love him. Thank god, he was
wrong.
When he came out, William was standing by the front door. "I left
a note for Jim or Joel," William said, "That way they don't think something
happened to you."
"Thank you," Blair said. "You know Jim too well. He would be frantic
until he figured out what happened to both of us."
They got into the car and drove off. Blair talked nonstop and William
realized why Jim said once that he liked listening to his voice. Blair
had a good, strong voice and one that William would be glad to hear for the
rest of his life if he was lucky enough to have Blair around that long.
At the station house, Jim came walking through the door and said, "Simon,
you already know about Blair and I, but I need to tell Joel now. And
then I would like to file some charges against the Police Commissioner."
Both Joel and Simon were floored hearing Jim say this. Both of them
quickly got over it and asked Jim to fill them in on what the hell was going
on. So, Jim told them about his talk with his dad and how well, it had
gone. Then he told them that William had gone over to stay with Blair
while Jim was filing the papers.
"Jim," Joel said, "I hope you've learned from this. You can't decide
what to do because of how others are going to see you. You just have
to face them and go with it. Look how well that turned out with your
dad, and I bet you never dreamed that your father would go along with this."
"You are right, Joel." Jim said, "I was shocked, but I couldn't have been
more proud of my dad. He'd always acted like I was an embarrassment
but maybe it was me. I find it hard to believe that this man, who was
so kind to me tonight, was the same man I keep thinking about all those years
ago."
"Gentlemen," Simon said, "You can discuss this later on. I want to
get these papers filled out and get to the Police Commissioner before anyone
else does. I have a feeling he'll be watching you and trying to stay
a step ahead of you the entire way. Let's get this show on the road."
"Thank you, guys." Jim said quickly, "I couldn't do this without your support.
I was hoping I'd have it."
They all filled out the paper work, then Simon called the D.A. at home and
told him about it and they would bring the Commissioner in the next morning.
He would be brought up on charges of blackmail and harassment. Jim wouldn't
be backing down, either, so this was serious.
"Jim," Simon said, "are you okay with this outing you at the station?"
"Sir," Jim answered, "if that's what it takes, then that's what it takes.
I have to do what's best for Blair and myself. I really do love him."
"You almost blew it." Simon said. "I really thought you'd ruined the
best thing you had ever had in your life."
"I did, too." Jim said. "But you know what? I realized that
I couldn't make it without Blair beside me. I knew then that I had
to tell my dad. It was an injustice to Blair to not say anything this
whole time."
"How long have you been together?" Joel asked. "Not that it matters,
but I would like to know."
"We've been lovers for six months now." Jim said.
"I knew it." Simon said, "I could tell the difference. You both tried
so hard to have things not change that they did."
Both Simon and Joel started laughing at this and Jim scowled at them.
"Glad to make your night." Jim said.
"Jim," Simon said, "why not go pick Sandburg up and go home? No reason
to stay here. I'll call tomorrow if I need you for anything. Take
the day off, both of you. See you tomorrow sometime. Tell Sandburg
I'm glad it worked out."
Jim pulled his cell phone out and called Blair's number and his dad answered,
"Jimmy?"
"Dad?" Jim said apprehensively, "Is something wrong with Blair?"
"No, Jimmy," William said. "He's fine. He's sleeping.
We're at my house. Come here, he's in the spare room. You know
where I keep the spare key. I'm going back to bed. See you in
the morning, son."
"Thank you, Dad." Jim said as he hung up the phone.
When he got to his dad's house he found the spare key, hidden in plain sight
and decided he was going to have a talk with his dad about that. It
wasn't safe and he'd be sure that he'd have a key made for emergencies so
his dad wouldn't feel the need to leave a key there.
Walking in, he locked up and headed up the stairs. William stood at
the head of the stairs and said, "Just making sure it was you, Jimmy."
Jim hugged his dad and said, "Thanks, Dad. For loving me."
"I've always loved you, Jim." William said. "I just didn't show you
and for that I'll be forever sorry."
"Dad," Jim said, "don't do that. We're both going to be blaming ourselves
forever. Let's stop now. How about we start over. What do
you say?"
"I say you get your ass in this bed and let a poor guy sleep, Ellison."
Blair said from the doorway of Jim's old room.
Both Jim and William started laughing and William said, "Goodnight, boys,
see you in the morning."
"Night, William." Blair said, turning and walking into the room. Blair
turned and saw Jim go into William's arms and tell him goodnight and hold
on tight. Geeze, you're getting down right mushy, Sandburg, Blair
told himself.
When Jim came through the doorway, he smiled at Blair and shut the door.
He then started taking his clothes off and climbed into the bed with Blair.
Thank god, he had a double bed while he was growing up. Think how uncomfortable
it would have been if he had to share a twin bed with Blair. Oh hell,
he realized he wouldn't care what he had to share. Jim, he said
to himself, you have it bad. You're one man totally in love.
As he crawled into Blair's arms, Blair said, "Never again, Jim. You
talk next time anything comes up or I'll leave. Understood?"
"Understood." Jim answered, "I promise to love you forever and not take
you for granted again. And I also promise to try to never be a dickhead
again. Well, at least to you, anyhow."
Blair started laughing and Jim covered his mouth with his own. The
kiss grew with such passion that Jim had forgotten how much he loved this
man till right this very second. Being with Blair made his entire life
light up. Everything was right with the world when Blair was in it.
As the kissing continued, Jim got them naked as fast as he could and said,
"Let me take you in my mouth since I don't have the supplies."
Blair pulled his backpack out from beside the bed and laughed and said,
"I have everything we'll need, big man. I'm going to make you howl,
do you hear me?"
"Oh shit," Jim said, "We're at my dad's house, Blair."
Blair started the assault and Jim knew he was in for a long night. Jim tried
to be quiet, he put a pillow over his mouth at one time, but when Blair started
stretching him for Blair's final entry. Jim couldn't hold still any longer.
He put the pillow down and said, "Blair, fuck me now."
"Why, thank you, Jim, I think I will." Blair said, laughing, and entered
Jim as quickly as he could without hurting Jim. As he did, Jim did howl
and he wasn't even coming yet.
Jim said, "Blair, Blair, Blair."
Blair said, "Jim, Jim, Jim, I'm going to make you come so hard, you'll think
someone knocked you upside your head. Do you hear me? I want to
see you come right now. Come for me, Jim."
As he was saying this he was hitting Jim's prostate each and every time
and Jim did come and he did howl. He yelled out, "I love you, Blair."
In his room, William lay in his bed and smiled. He knew this man was
going to be good for his son. He wouldn't get any Grandchildren, but
who cares. He wanted Jim to be happy and it sure sounded like he was
happy. He smiled again and rolled over and went to sleep.
After cleaning them both up, Blair pulled Jim into his arms and said, "I
love you, Jim. You're mine, no one else's."
"I thank god for that, Blair." Jim said, "I love you back. I am yours
as you're mine. We'll be together forever."
"Sweet dreams, Jim." Blair said.
"I'm with you, how could it be anything else?" Jim answered.
And as Jim started falling to sleep, he realized that he'd take care of things
as they came up. He wasn't going to worry about them now. He had
his life mate here and was happy. This was indeed a great life.
He pulled Blair closer and fell to sleep.
Jim woke up to the smell of eggs, bacon and pancakes. He pulled Blair
up close to him and said, "Chief, my dad made breakfast. I guess we
should go down and eat. What do you say?"
"I want to eat." Blair said as he pushed Jim over onto his back. With
one smooth move, Blair took Jim's cock into his mouth and began sucking.
Jim pulled a pillow over his face and he moaned in pleasure. It didn't
last long as Jim came into Blair's enthusiastic mouth. Blair then pulled
the pillow off Jim's face and said, "Okay, now I'm ready for breakfast.
I had to taste
you first."
Jim started laughing and took Blair's hard cock into his hand and said,
"Would you like me to do something about this, or did you just want to go
around hard all day long?"
Jim moved down and swallowed Blair's cock into his warm and moist mouth.
He could taste Blair's pre-cum so knew that Blair wouldn't be lasting too
long. He started sucking hard and Jim saw Blair pull the pillow over
his head to keep the moans quiet. Jim loved this. After a few
more sucks and Blair shot his cream down Jim's throat and Jim swallowed it
all willingly.
They lay in each other's arms and got their breathing back to normal.
Then they got into the shower, together. As Jim was washing his body,
Blair took the soap and rubbed it into his hands and once they were all sudsy,
he starting rubbing Jim's body. "Chief, if you start that, we're never
going to make it out of here." Blair laughed and started rubbing between
Jim's cheeks. Jim spread his legs and put his head against the tile.
Jim couldn't believe how great this felt. To think he almost gave this
all up.
As he continued to rub around Jim's hole, with Jim moaning and legs spread,
Blair figured, what the hell? Just because he didn't usually fuck Jim,
it was usually the other way around, didn't mean they couldn't change things.
Look what happened last night, Blair thought. He slid one finger into
Jim's hole and Jim jumped but didn't move away from Blair at all. Then
Jim pushed
back against the finger letting Blair know he wanted more. So, Blair
pulled that out and put two in. Jim was moaning now, he didn't even
jump this time. Blair pulled those two out and put a little more liquid
on his fingers and added three this time. Jim was started to talk to
him now in a begging tone. "Blair, please fuck me, fuck me now."
"Jim," Blair said, "Do you know how badly you hurt me in the last couple
of days?"
Jim looked back behind him, said, "Babe, I'm really sorry. You know
why I did it. I've explained it all. I thought you understood."
"I'm still a little pissed off about you being with that bitch." Blair said
angrily.
As Blair was talking he was still pounding his fingers into Jim's hole,
rubbing Jim's prostate each and every time. Jim was trying to concentrate
on what Blair was saying, but it was becoming more and more difficult every
moment that Blair kept his fingers in Jim's ass. Oh goody, thought
Jim, I'm becoming a slut.
"You'll never, ever be with anyone other than me again." Blair said, "And
if you do, I'll fucking kick your ass and then never talk to you again. Do
you understand?"
"Yes," Jim pleaded. "Blair, please fuck me. Please?"
"Jim," Blair said smiling, "Who would've thought you'd be such a slut?"
"I know." answered Jim, who was totally disgusted with himself.
Blair pulled his fingers out of Jim and Jim whined, "Blair?"
"Oh don't worry, big man," Blair said, "I'm just getting you in a different
position before I continue."
Blair shut the water off and told Jim get out and get on the floor on all
fours. Jim did so without asking any questions. Blair smiled at
how easy this was happening. Who'd've thought? Man, not only is
Jim a slut, but he's a bottom boy. Blair had to bite the inside of
his cheek to keep from laughing. And to think he could have been the top for
all this time.
As Jim got down on the floor he looked at Blair, and for the first time,
Blair realized that Jim was scared. Blair rubbed his back and ass as
he said, "Jim, I'd never hurt you. You know that, right?"
"Yeah." Jim answered. "Just a little scared, that's all, Chief. I'm so sorry
I hurt you, babe."
Blair stopped what he was doing and pulled Jim's face towards his and said,
"Jim, are you doing this because you are trying to make this up to me in a
sexual way or because you want to?"
"A little of both." Jim said.
Blair got up and got back into the shower and washed all the soap off as
Jim was still trying to figure out what had happened there.
Jim got into the shower and said, "Blair, I wouldn't let you fuck me just
because I thought maybe then you wouldn't be mad. I just figured that
it would help make us closer and I figured we needed to be closer right now."
Jim pulled Blair against him and said, "Please babe, don't be mad at me."
"And Jim, why now?" Blair asked, "why now do you figure you'll let me top?
I've asked you many a time and you wouldn't hear of it."
"Because I'm a shithead and I was scared." Jim answered, "You always tell
me I'm so brave, but Blair, I'm really not. I'm just as scared as the
next person. And I truly believed that if you topped, you'd have so
much control over me I'd be a goner."
"Guess what, Jim?" Blair asked sweetly. "The bottom has more control
than you can imagine."
"I'm beginning to understand this now." Jim said, smiling. "Now could
we get back to where we were?"
Smiling, Blair said, "Are you sure?"
Jim grabbed a bottle of lotion and jumped out of the shower. What
could Blair do but follow, laughing happily?
Jim got down on all fours and looked at Blair and said, "Blair, fuck me,
please?"
"I love you so much, Jim." Blair said. Then he proceeded to fuck his
sentinel senseless. Again, what could he do? He had to do what
was right.
As they got dressed to go down for breakfast, Blair asked "Jim, do you remember
what I'll do to you if you ever keep something to yourself again. And
also what would happen to you if you fuck someone else?"
Jim hung his head and said, "Chief, I promise to never keep any secrets
from you again and I'll never be in anyone else's arms, I promise.
They kissed to make the bond even stronger and went downstairs to greet
the new day. The sun was shining and it looked like it was made especially
for them. Both men were smiling as they walked in and said good morning
to William. William, in turn, looked at them both and said, "Oh, you
two are such goners." He laughed as he left them alone to eat
breakfast.
The phone rang while they were eating and William came in and handed the
phone to Jim and said, "It's Captain Banks."
"Thanks, Dad," Jim said, "Hey, Simon, what's up?"
"We need you down here for some more questions and answers." Simon said,
"The Commissioner's lawyer is getting him out on bail."
"Simon, you promised me he would stay." Jim said sadly.
"Jim," Simon said, "just get down here and we'll see if we can't do something
about this."
Without looking at either Blair or his dad, Jim said, "The Commissioner's
getting out on bail. I have to go and answer more questions."
"Jim," William said quickly, "let me get my jacket and I'll go along.
I have a great lawyer if we need to get one and I want to be there to stand
behind you."
"Thanks, Dad," Jim said, trying to smile. "I thought this would be
an open and shut case. That's what I get for thinking."
"Hey, Jim," Blair said. "Don't give up just yet. We'll get him.
Don't you worry."
"Well, let's see how you feel when everyone finds out about us at the station."
Jim said angrily, "And what do you think they're going to say when they hear
about the Commissioner's niece? They're going to think I used you and
the niece."
Jim went upstairs to get his shoes and socks on and Blair turned to William
and said "William, I think this might backfire. What do you think?
How much pull does he have?"
"Blair, I don't really know, but I have plenty of pull, too." William said.
William went into his room and got his coat, and went to the drawer, grabbing
something out of it and slipped it into his pocket and went to join the two
men waiting for him at the front door.
The ride to the precinct was a quiet one. No one knew exactly what
to say. The quiet probably was best. They all had a lot of thinking
to do. When they pulled up, William said, "Jimmy, I need to talk to
him alone without you or any one else in the room. Do you think that
can be arranged?"
"Dad," Jim said, "I appreciate it, but this isn't something you can take
care of for me. I fucked this up, now I need to answer for it."
Jim turned from Blair and William and walked briskly to the elevator.
Blair said, "Hey, hot shot, who the fuck do you think is sitting here with
you? You need to answer for it? Not we need to?"
Jim turned to Blair with such anger as he said, "Fuck you, Blair.
You know it's not the same. Everyone's going to look at me differently
now. I fucked it up but good. They all love you. They'll
hate me forever."
Blair smiled when he realized that Jim was worried about his co-workers
getting pissed off about how Blair was treated, rather than them being gay.
This was indeed something new.
As they rode up in silence, William said, "Jimmy, I do want to talk to the
Commissioner, I think you owe me that much, don't you agree?"
"Well, shit, Dad." Jim said. "Now you're going to tell me what I have
to do because you accepted me?"
"Jim," William said, "Stop making such a damn big thing out of this and
let me see him. Fix it for me, Jimmy."
"Fine." Jim said finally and stomped away from both of the men.
Simon walked over to William Ellison and shook his hand and said, "Mr. Ellison,
it's very good to see you. Commissioner Jefferson is waiting to talk
to you."
"Thank you, Captain." William said as he followed Simon into the interrogation
room.
Commissioner Jefferson looked up and saw William Ellison standing there
he turned to his lawyer and said, "You can leave me alone with Mr. Ellison."
"Hello, Jeff," William said coldly, "I just wanted to talk to you before
you ruin everyone's lives."
"No matter what you say it won't work, Bill." Jeff said, "Your son's a fucking
fag and I don't want him tainting our police department."
"So no one knows about you and George, am I correct?" William asked.
"What are you talking about?" Jeff said, "George is a friend of mine, that's
all."
"I have pictures of you, Jeff." the elder Ellison said, "And if you continue
this, I'll be sure that your entire family knows about it."
"William, you can't do this, it would ruin my family and you know it." Jeff
said.
"Yes, just like you are ruining my son's life." William said.
"Fine, I'll make a plea bargain and resign, will that make you happy, Bill?"
Jeff asked.
William stood up and went to the door and said, "I'll send your lawyer back
in, Jeff. Nice seeing you again."
As he went to Captain Banks' office, he was smiling. He hated using
blackmail in return. The only thing that kept him from feeling too bad
was the fact that he didn't really have pictures. This made him smile all
the more.
As he walked into Simon's office, Jim said, "So how did it go?"
"He's going to ask for a plea bargain and resign." William said. "He's not
saying a word to anyone about you, Jimmy, you don't have to worry."
"Dad," Jim said, "please tell me you didn't do anything illegal to get him
to do this."
"Jimmy, I swear I didn't do anything." William said.
Simon walked in front of the window and said, "Sir, I have to know what
you said because if you used any type of blackmail it could backfire."
"Captain Banks," William said, "He's not going to say a word to anyone,
believe me."
Then William pulled a tape player out of his pocket, set it on Simon's desk
and pushed play. They all listened and they all smiled. Jim had no idea
his father was such a hardball player.
"Dad," Jim asked, "Do you have any pictures of the Commissioner?"
"Of course not, Jimmy. I just made that up." William said.
This made all of them laugh. William was very pleased that things
were going to work out.
"Jim," William asked, "Do you suppose you could take me home?"
"Simon," Jim asked, "Do you mind if I run my dad home?"
"By all means, take him home." Simon said, "In fact, take him to lunch and
then just come in later today. Relax."
While they were still standing there, the DA, Stanford, walked in and said,
"May I speak freely, Banks?"
"Yes," Simon said, "We all know the story here."
"Well, we have a resignation from our dear Commissioner Jefferson." Stanford
said. "He and his lawyer agreed to a fine and community service and
it's not going to be easy stuff. We are talking hard-core community
service. We also aren't talking about a lousy 200 hours of service."
Jim went over to Stanford and shook his hand and said, "Thank you, sir."
"You're very welcome, Detective Ellison." Stanford said. "Well, I have to
get over and file the paperwork. I love it when things work out for
the good guys. See you later, gentlemen."
Simon walked William, Blair and Jim to the elevator and said, "See you later,
guys, I have paperwork to do of my own. See you both tomorrow morning."
"Tomorrow?" Jim asked. "What happened to later today?"
"You might be celebrating." Simon said, smiling, as he walked away.
William, Blair and Jim all laughed as they got onto the elevator.
It was nice when the good guys won.
The end.
