Holly started taking riding lessons when she was 12 yrs old. She had an older hunter/jumper cross bred welsh pony and started dressage lessons with her. When she outgrew Twilight she started riding a 12 yr old purebred arab gelding who had been used as a trail horse. Holly schooled Raleigh Kalamazoo in both hunter/jumper and dressage. In both disciplines they excelled. Kal regularily scored in the high 60's and low 70%'s and in the hunter/jumper ring brought home tons of Championships. They won many year-end awards and together were 5th overall in Canada at Basic 1-2. Holly was Ontario's Junior Equestrian of the Year in 1994.
As Kal was getting older, Holly purchased a very green broke 5 yr old double registered Canadian Trakehner / Half Arab gelding named Korus. She and Kor have made the dressage ring their main focus. Kor has won so many show Championships and Year-end awards that we have lost count. He has never not brought home a ribbon and most times 1st or 2nd. They won Kor's Legion of Supreme Honor in 7 shows. This award is bestowed after you have reached a certain number of points. Of the thousands of horses enrolled in the program at the time, less than 800 horses have won this award and few in such short order. They have won Year-End awards from United States Dressage Association, Cadora, IAHA, Midwest Dressage Association, AHAEC, HAAM and the Canadian Trakehner Horse Association. In Oct.1995, Holly was involved in a head-on collision and could not ride til the following April. Kor was kept in shape by good freinds, Mary Bradshaw & Heather Buchner. Two weeks after the Dr said she could ride again, Holly & Kor were off to a show in Michigan where they rode in 9 classes bringing home 9 ribbons & 3 Championships. They are now at Third Level and schooling 4th. Holly was a volunteer for the Therapeudic Riding Association, Windsor-Essex Pony Club executive and was the Dressage co-ordinator. She has judged numerous schooling shows and is looking forward to staring a young horse again. |
