“Confusion: Er’body in the Club getting tipsy”
A Bosco and Cat tale
By: Mary Moule
Er’body in the club getting tipsy (e’rbody in the club
getting tipsy). Cat peered at her
clock; Bosco had showed up and yet to leave. She was getting tired or tipsy,
she couldn’t tell because she had snuck a beer from the fridge earlier. “Bosco.
Hey.” She lightly poked him in his side. He looked at her, “Hmm? What Cat?”
“It’s getting to be rather late.” “Like how late?” “Quarter of
Cat fell over in her bed and
clutched the left side of it. That entire side smelled like him and she curled
up in the scent, soon her mother came wandering in to see if she wanted any
breakfast. “Hey Ma.” “Did he just leave?” “Yes he did, but since my door was
open all night…” Her mother nodded, “Yes then I know your rule. If your door is
open nothing is going on, if it’s closed then that’s a different story.”
“Right, you remember and I really don’t think I’d even want to attempt to do
that here…” Her mother smiled, “Want breakfast?” “Pancakes and hot cocoa?” “All
right. I’ll get to work, you hop in the shower, work today.” “Yes, I know.” Cat
ran off to shower and sang along to the system she had in the bathroom. “ I just thought that I'd let you know That
although I'm far I'm close to you within And all the time spent by your side Is
taken deep in me Held for me to keep To look upon when I'm feeling like Everything
and one Is hurting me for something or other It takes me to a better place Nowhere
I'd rather go Thought I'd let you know Who you are What you do Makes me burn to
be in you Who you are And what you do I'm burning to be in you.”
At work, Cat fiddled around
behind the counter. During the after-lunch-rush, her cousin Breangwen came
running in. “Cat! Hey! I have the best news!” She dropped her jacket on the
counter and leaned on it. Cat jumped a bit, somewhat startled by her cousin’s
over enthusiasm. “Yeah, like what?” Cat stood up as she put an empty muffin
tray in a pile. “I received seven tickets to the annual rose garden ball Friday
night at the Ritz-Carlton. You want to go?” “Seven huh? That was originally
eight so that would leave you with one extra.” “Wrong.” “Wrong, what? Why am I
wrong?” “Come here.” Breangwen signaled her closer and Cat stepped closer. “Ask
Bosco to tag along.” She pulled the tickets out of her pocket and handed them
to her cousin. “Call me if and when he says yes.” “What if he says no?” “Well,
call Joey first and ask him to be your back-up date incase he does.” Breangwen
patted her on the head and went to leave. “Hey Aunt Jacey.” “Hey Breangwen.”
Cat blinked as her mother walked inside the shop. “You all right honey?” “Um,
yes. I’m fine just a little confused about something.” Cat stuffed the tickets
into her purse in a safe spot. “Confused about what?” “Breangwen just gave me
two tickets to the annual rose garden ball on this Friday night.” “The one at
the Ritz-Carlton?” “The very one and she suggests I ask Bosco to take me.” Her
mother moved behind the counter and dug in her purse for some money and handed
it to her. “Well, go shopping for a dress and then call him.” Cat rolled her
eyes and left to go shopping at Tiffany & Company.
Moving out of the store, she
sighed a bit and headed towards home again. She had purchased a powder blue
dress with matching shoes, shawl, and purse. As she placed it in her closet,
the phone rang and she ran towards it. “Hello?” “Hey Cat.” “Kimmie, what’s up?”
“Breangwen told me you might be coming on Friday night.” “Might be is the
answer at moment.” “To nervous at moment to ask someone to be your date?” “It’s
not as easy as it looks…he’s a cop and I’m wondering if I’m treading on thin
ice here by asking him.” She heard a knock in the background. “I have to go
Cat, I have company. Listen, just ask him and if he says no just call Joey.”
“That’s what Breangwen told me. Later.” Cat hung up and cleaned up around the
apartment a little. It was quarter of three and she grabbed the phone and
dialed Bosco’s number. Fuck, she got the machine. Arg, she’d have to leave a
message. “Bosco, it’s Cat. Listen, my cousin gave me two tickets to the annual
rose garden ball on Friday night at the Ritz-Carlton around
Come back and haunt me
Follow me home
Give me a motive
Swallow me whole
They way I've lost it
What could I know
When I'm but a mockery?
I'm so alone
Sooner of later you'll find out
There's a hole in the wall
Today is ours
Condemned to be free
Free to keep breathing
Free to believe
I look to find you
Down on my knees
Oh God, I believe!
Please help me believe
Around
I'm filling up inside
Like i need to open wide
And pour my heart out to you
But I’ll just get denied
And all i wanted was someone to hear what I’m going through
Every time that i need you around
You're never there (never there)
You're never there (never there)
Because in my life is where i need you now
But you're never there (never there)
You're never there (never there)
You were supposed to see
All the signs i left right in front of your face
You were supposed to be
The closest thing to being me
But you're the furthest away
That's because...
She also had something else
to take care of, buying a gun. Just a small SMG for protection inside the
domain, her mother let her out of the house and she didn’t know she had been
spotted by Faith and Bosco as she left the shop. Sometime after
Do you know, that every time you're near
Everybody else seems far away
So can you come and make them disappear
Make them disappear and we can stay
So I stand and look around
Distracted by the sounds
Of everyone and everything I see
And I search through every face
Without a single trace, of the person
The person that I need
Thursday soon passed and
quickly became Friday, day turned slowly into night and yet she didn’t let it
bother her. A few hours before
Around quarter of nine, Bosco
treaded up the stairs to Cat’s mom’s apartment. Looking all suave in his tuxedo
and knocked on the door and dear god he had a dozen roses for her. “Coming.”
Cat moved towards the door and opened it. Her mother rushed over and caught her
as she fell back. “Hi Bosco, as you can see she is ready to go.” Cat smiled and
stood up, grabbing her purse. Bosco handed her mother the roses and they left.
“Those were for you but I need my arms free.” “Why? Am I a handful all of a
sudden?” “Uh, no more like an armful.” She giggled and climbed into his car and
then they headed off to the ball.
Can you make them disappear?
Make them disappear
There's a pain that sleeps inside
Sleeps with just one eye
And awakens, the moment that you leave
And I search through every face
Without a single trace, of the person
The person that I need
Do you know, that every time you're near
Everybody else seems far away
So can you come and make them disappear
Make them disappear and we can stay
