Chapter 3 by Natalie and Rose As we remember, Flat Alex got flattened by the bulletin board in his room. Now he has trouble with a lot of stuff. One of them is holding stuff. For example, it is hard for him to hold a book and to put the book down. Well, one day at school when the teacher said. "SSR time for everybody!", Flat Alex, as everyone called him, went over to get a book from the Dr. Seuss book case but he could not pick up the book because he was flat!

So he asked his friend Joe, "Could you please put the book on my hands?" So Joe said. "Yes" and put the book in his hands. "Thank you," said Flat Alex. Then he walked to his desk. After about twenty minutes it was time for spelling and SSR time was over. Now ... he has a little trouble with holding his pencil. So he can't do certain assignments. He could not write with a pencil so he asked his teacher Ms. Kreul, "Could Stella write for me? I can't write very well." "Well ... Stella has work to do as well as you," said Ms. Kreul. "How will I write?" asked Flat Alex. "Well, we could call the office and ask if someone could come up and help you with your work," said Ms. Kreul. "OK," said Flat Alex. So someone did. Ms. Ramsey came up from the office and said to Flat Alex, "I'll be glad to help you, Alex." "Call me Flat Alex, please," said Flat Alex. "OK," said Ms. Ramsey. Then Ms. Ramsey helped him the rest of the year.
