| Whatever I am doing right now you can be sure I'd rather be writing. My adventurous life enriches my writing and my writing enriches my life. | |||||||||||||||||||
| There is only one thing more important to me that writing, that is the people I love. Zeal Raphael, my only grandchild was born in New Delhi, India on Nov. 17, 2000. When I visited him, with the help of his mother, Ginger, 5 month old Zeal wrote a book about our time together. My son Raphael Raphael and his wife Ginger have now bought a home in Eugene, Oregon. Raphael has written an exciting novel, Waking The President. Ginger writes children's books and she has begun her own business Home Academy, helping parents do home schooling. We had a wonderful visit in April. | |||||||||||||||||||
| My mother Dancing Doris had ten children and is as prolific with her poems as she was with her children. Doctor Dodo, my sister in Sarasota and Westerville reminds me of Dr. Ruth and Martha Stewart combined. If you knew my sister Susie like I know her, you'd love her too. And Sister Kathy is a jewel. Butch is my oldest brother and Tom comes next. Both of them are experts on the computer as is Brother Jim who teaches at Shawnee University. Nancy is a nurse. I'd like to see more of her. John was the first to go to Heaven, to get us a good spot at the Banquet. Mike is an airtraffic control person. I'll write about their spouses and children and pets later. And about my friends. See the Acknowledgments of my books. Two very special friends whose biographies I have written were Mother Teresa and Anais Nin. People ask me why I write about these two women, saying they have nothing in common. Having spent time with each of them, I know they were both passionate, compassionate women who loved Peace, were devoted to Love, and saw the earth with no artificial boundaries. Both tried to make the world a better place. Mother Teresa devoted her life to God. Anais Nin devoted her life to becoming the best writer she could be. They each touched me and changed me life. Mother Teresa taught me some powerful writing lessons. She asked a well-known author, How can you write about hunger if none of your friends is hungry?" Anais too was a spiritual as well as writing mentor. She taught me to answer all my mail. Today much of my daily joy comes from staying in touch with those I love. As much as Anais loved writing, she valued relationships more. For me, spirituality is a relationship with God and with those I love who are created in God's image. |
