Suggestions for learning:
Record class and lecture notes.

Participate in class and in discussion groups.
Verbally review learning material with a friend or colleague.
Create mnemonics to aid memorization.

Characteristics of Visual Learners:
Needs to see it to learn it.
Strong sense of color.
May be artistic.
Has more difficulty with verbal directions.
More difficulty following lectures.
May misinterpret words.

Suggestions for learning:
Use visual aids such as films, slides, illustrations, notes,charts, etc. Use color codes to organize notes, and highlight important points in text.
Ask for written directions and handouts.
Use flow charts and diagrams for notetaking when possible.
Visualize words and facts to be memorized.
Write out everything for quick and frequent visual review.

Characteristics of Tactile/Kinesthetic Learners:
Prefers hands-on learning.
Can assemble parts without reading directions.
May have difficulty sitting still.
Learns better when physical activity is involved.
May have athletic ability.

Suggestions for learning:
Utilize experiential learning (lab work, role play, etc.).
Incorporate frequent study breaks.
Trace letters and words to learn and remember facts.
Computers can reinforce learning through a sense of touch.
Memorize facts to be learned while walking or exercising.
Write out information to be learned several times.
