Marvy came in to our world Saturday, October 15th.  My water broke at home and we rushed to the hospital.  Once we got there, they hooked me up to monitors.  Then waited.  For a LONG time! The doctor finally ordered petocin for me.  We waited.  No labor or contractions!  I arrived dilated at 3, was still at a 3 three hours later.  More petocin, which brought pain, but no change in the cervix.  So I finally asked for some medication.  She told me in two minutes, the contractions wouldn't even bother me.

In two minutes, I was in agony!  I told her to check again cause I thought it was time.  She'd just checked me before the pain meds.  I'd dilated to 7, so she calls the doctor.  Then she tells me to hang on for fifteen minutes more.  So I start trying to distract myself.  I was picturing myself on a beach.  Then I REALLY had to picture myself and REALLY concentrate on it!  The doctor arrived and I said he'd better get over there.  Sure enough, I'd been dilated for awhile.

Then, all of a sudden, nothing sounded better than a nap.  I wanted to take a nap.  I was thinking I could come back to this later, he would still be there!  But, I was able to push him out in three tries.  And, man, was he BRUISED!  He cried out without having to be suctioned, scored an 8 on his apgar because he was purple.
