| The greatest discovery of any generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes. Albert Schweitzer First keep the peace within yourself, then you can also bring peace to others. Thomas A. Kempis Be tolerant among the intolerant, gentle among the violent, and free from greed among the greedy. Buddha Learn to be silent. Let your mind listen and absorb. Pythagorus The way to do...is to be. Lao Tzu Patience is the greatest of all shock absorbers. The only thing you can get in a hurry is trouble. Lord Thomas R. | Serene: a clear and calm; placid, inperturbed. Serenity: The Little Oxford Dictionary Serenity and calmness are qualities that need to be kept in balance. Here are some pointers that might help: Breathe deeply until you can hear yourself breathe. Peace will not be far behind. Speak slowly and softly. Have you ever seen a calm person with a loud voice? Start every journey 10 minutes early so as to avoid haste. That way you will have time to relax and think clearly. Smile more :) A smile relaxes all the major facial muscles. It also sets off an emotional chain reaction that helps you feel good. Face a wet towel. As any beauty therapist or barber will tell you, nothing soaks away facial stress and tension quite so efficiently as a damp, hot towel. Float in a swimming pool or even a bath tub, and weightlessly feel your tensions dissolve. If you tend to get overly serious about your work or your responsibilities, remind yourself that the most common deathbed regrets relate to neglected relationships, not unfinished business. Grow your own garden. Gardeners are among the most calm and relaxed people you'll find. That's while they're gardening, of course. Drink Milk. It helps you to relax and become calm because it is rich in calcium, a muscle relaxant, as well as an amino acid called tryptophan, a powerful natural sedative. I guess all our Mamas were right about having to drink milk after all *Lol* Envision long distance views. Your eyes are at their most relaxed when they focus on distant scenes - especially natural ones. That way, your body starts to relax too. Excerpted from the "Little Book of Serenity". |
