| The Basics: The way we play is through AOL's Instant messanger AIM. In the chat portion of it, there is a built in die roller. The code is as simple as you could make it. However, there are more things than just the code. For one we have to deal with character sheets, this being an online community of RPing, there can be some people who lie, cheat and steal. Well. maybe not steal, but the other two are a definte. So the creators and moderators of this site have talked and devised a plan to keep this in order. The DM for the night will keep a saved copy of the chat. Reasoning behind so is this, to keep down on the rapid growth of a character, they will have to double check and replace certain things if need be, in helping or just correcting. Technically we are dealing with a person's "life" here. Even though only in the D&D world. Along with the DM keeping track of the night's campaign, the webmaster will keep a copy of the campaigns for reference back if need be. Just to be on the safe side. In creating a character, there will be news posted on the front page of the site where we will tell out members who are wishing to play what types of character to have, whether it be a level 4 or level 10. The update with the next game day will be made available in a timely manner. To create a character, one must download the spreadsheet file that is listed at the bottom of this page. It also opens up in Corel's equivilent program. This is a effective way of making a character sheet as well as keeping it up on the DM's info. To play, one must create a character and by the end of the campaign night get it back to the DM by simply e-maling it to them. The email can be found on the CONTACT page. AIM Built in Die Roller The die rolling code is as follows: //roll-sidesxx-diceyy How you do it is this, take the niber of sides on the die and replace the "xx" and then with the nimber of dice, you replace the "yy" For example if your character has a Greatsword, you roll the attack on it which is 2d6 so the code will look like: //roll-sides6-dice2 and it will come back saying Online host: (screen name) has rolled 2 6 sided dice 5 3, the last part is the totals od each roll. then you add your modifiers in and there you have it. Character Sheets per Excel/Corel: In the first set inclosed, just follow the basic walk through and you will be fine in the creation process. In the second one, it is a little more adept in character creation, including various books and whatnot. In this program, you may run into a macros signing problem, if so, click the "help" portion and it will explain it, then just walk through the creation process All in all I think I like them both. Click HERE to see a screen shot tutorial of the first program. Now for the second one, click the "Create New Character" button if you get a error about Macros, then click the tools tab and find Macro, then security, and adjust the security level and everything should be fine, this also has a built in star roller. |
