Dad

Every one describes the love for a child
So powerful and strong, yet so tender and mild.
Now I'll show you, as a child what I see
When I look at my dad, and when he looks at me.

He was my tower of strength, always ready to fight
To chase away dreams that scared me at night.
With his arms always ready, to hold me close by
With a kind word or joke, to wipe my tears dry.

Then after he left, confusion set in
My tower of strength, now incarnation of sin.
I was told to distrust him, and that he was bad
I tried to and I tried, but I loved him, my dad.

The evil was not with him, I now see
But with the people he left, and he left with me.
Left behind, to fight for his name
I was shunned just like him, him and I are the same.

His hurt and his pain, has stumbled him so
Now as his creation, I must help him to grow
I have always believed, in this man I now see
He is the reason I am, and forever will be.
